wild-saint Posted 19 April, 2011 Share Posted 19 April, 2011 guard of honour my ar$e. They have won the third division not the effing premier league. There are 44 teams in England higher than them. Maybe when they win the premier league we think about showing them that sort of honour but until then they can Rim themselves.
lethallee Posted 19 April, 2011 Share Posted 19 April, 2011 who cares if they do a guard of honour...? By doing a guard of honour for them it would give them more of a sense of superiority over us which would filter into the game itself. You should respect your opponents but not over do it especially not just before kick off !
Thedelldays Posted 19 April, 2011 Share Posted 19 April, 2011 I think its quite funny how it has worked out we all assumed that we would walk the league..lambert would walk the scoring charts etc and even during the season, we joked how brighton would need to keep up with us........then we play them the day they get the trophy lol
Jonnyboy Posted 19 April, 2011 Share Posted 19 April, 2011 According to South Today, Brighton is suggesting our boys form a guard of honour! Listening to 5 Live last night they were talking about this, the C*nt Claridge was loving it saying how we should have to, and how funny it was that we had been favourites at the start. benjii Posted 19 April, 2011 Share Posted 19 April, 2011 I'm really not that nervous about this at all. We were far better than them in the match at SMS and they have recently been shipping goals to crap teams and will be missing their best defender. I expect us to score at least two, assuming we turn up. Only some heroics from their centre backs, a shocking miss from Lambert and the failure of the ref to give us a clear penalty stopped us stuffing them at SMS. They are clearly in "Party mode" and haven't played a decent team for a while. I reckon the old 3-1 could make an appearance.

Congratulations, you beat Daggers 4-3 at home and Swindon 2-1. Teams we beat 4-0 and 4-1 respectively. You will play open football and try to beat us, no question. Over this season teams that have done that against us have been beaten convincingly - Huddersfield at home, Oldham away, Bournemouth home and away, Posh and Blackpool. The games we really struggle in are home (and a few away) games where the teams come and 'Park the bus' - Rovers on Saturday, Notts County, Walsall, Brentford and, dare I say it, Brighton. We tend to get frustrated and vulnerable, but thankfully on Saturday we stayed tight, kept at it and got our just rewards. The only sure thing about Saturday's match is that it will be a cracker! The9 Posted 19 April, 2011 Share Posted 19 April, 2011 Frankly anything could happen, but it could be 50% Saints second string with the players we've got missing at the moment. It's not going to prove much either way. Suffice to say I'm a lot less confident we're going to thrash them now we're probably missing 4 starters. Lallana is reported to be fit. Barnard would have started if fit, so current first 11 - but not all season. Would be happier if we had them all! saint lard Posted 20 April, 2011 Share Posted 20 April, 2011 The guard of honour thing was mooted a couple of weeks ago and a few Brighton fans were hoping it would pan out this way....i think they will get their wish. Not overly important in the grand scheme of things. But the result is. We can win this. I truly did not,at the begining of the season, think we should be fearing at trip to Brighton. Mind you, a few other games have fallen into that same catagory and we fell short. I think i will be expecting more from MK Dons over Huddersfield, that game is also crucial to where we finish this season, imo. The games we have not been involved in have had a great bearing on our season, almost as much as the ones we have,we have been lucky on occasions,i hope that luck continues. COYS. The9 Posted 20 April, 2011 Share Posted 20 April, 2011 over season, and some of our better performances, you could argue that we maybe 1 player off our starting 11 You could, but you'd be wrong unless you're ready to accept that you're suggesting Adkins doesn't try and pick his best team, because he keeps picking players who aren't this lot when the others are fit. Whether Dickson is better than Harding, Guly supports Lambert better than Barnard does, Forte is more impactful than Lallana, God knows who we've got on the right is better than Chamberlain or whatever it is you're claiming, we are clearly significantly weaker when we are being forced into considering players out of position just to field a reasonably stable looking XI. AndyNorthernSaints Posted 20 April, 2011 Share Posted 20 April, 2011 I used to quite like Brighton and had a soft spot for them with their struggles with Archer - selling of Goldstone ground and finding a new home etc but alot of their fans these days come across as knobs. If Saints raise their game like they can, then we can get a similar performance and result like at Bournmouth.
itchen_dan Posted 20 April, 2011 Share Posted 20 April, 2011 In one sense I'm confident but in the other I'm not. As many have pointed out, we are missing some real key players and this may affect the balance and blend of the team. However, remember what we did at Norwich last season! We were brilliant that day and raised our game significantly. Who is to say we can't do it again this time round vs a team in a similar position? Believe!! COYS!! 2-1 win! jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 20 April, 2011 Share Posted 20 April, 2011 The players need to stay focussed and not get dragged into scuffles with brighton players. no doubt brighton will try and kick lumps out of us. They wont care about getting booked or risk even getting sent off. They will set out to rile us from the offset so we must not retaliate even if things are not going to plan. Probably a good thing Barny wont be playing as he has a short fuse:) stay clam, remain focussed and our ability should shine through. i have a feeling morgan will be on the bench saturday. A second straight red in a season brings a 4 match ban, if they got another straight red on Saturday their suspension would include the first official match of next season as well. I really think you are over estimating their aptitude to be petty and under estimating their professionalism. It's not Portsmouth after all. I guess you'll be suggesting that they'll deliberately lose against Huddersfield next.

We just cannot deliver when it matters in away games so in reality it is not in our hands at all. We must as always rely on the other two to cock-it up! One might but surely not both.
