Brighton build-up

Ooh yes!

Nice stadium as it looks, it doesn't look very um... expandable. Frankly I wouldn't want padded seats and polished floors if that were reflected in the ticket prices. Perhaps they want to price out the Whitehawk mob and just get the London-by-the-Sea types?

Corners can fillled in and a second tier slotted in the East. There is also the potential for the roof to be raised. Modern Stadium designed to be expandable, pending planning permission.

No idea why people are leaving Forte out of their prefered XI, especially now that Barnard is out. He was one of the best players on the pitch on Saturday (aside from his idiotic hand ball).

Richardson ahead of Butterfield. His crossing was poor on Saturday. Jaidi if fit. Dickson ahead of Harding. Lallana if fit. Stephens ahead of Chaplow as he seems more composed on the ball. Would love to see Connolly start but I doubt he's ready.

Davis

Richardson Fonte Jaidi Dickson

Forte Hammond Stephens Lallana

Guly Lambert

Was gonna start a thread about it. Bennett seemed ok but that Elphick struck me as a right arrogant t*sser.

Don't take it to heart. Tommy is Brighton through and through, has come through the youth ranks, and is obviously still excited about winning the league. It has been a hard season on Tommy - first choice with El-Abd as Greer was suspended, but when Greer came in both he and El-Abd have been immense. He would've played against you but got suspended the match before, so when Adam was injured we brought on Lewis Dunk. Did well mind.

You said Tommy only joked about it though, and to be fair, we have walked this league, not being arrogant, but I can see why he would say it especially with the very close relationship our squad has!

Elliott is just top, honestly. Every interview he comes across well-informed, pleasant and level-headed. So very happy our chairman stood firm and rejected all of the bids from feckin' Norwich in January!

Good luck on Saturday, wouldn't be too against a draw so we can keep our unbeaten record and you still get a point closer to promotion. Who would want to go to Huddersfield when you could go only down the road? ;)

Am I the only one who would start Lallana on the bench and bring him on in the 2nd half if things weren't going our way?

My thinking is that (a) we need to protect him as much as we can if he has an underlying/recurring groin problem, (b) we nearly always play relatively poorly in the first half anyway, even when Adam is playing, so we can maintain that first-half status quo without overly risking him and © Brighton will probably shape up their tactics to deal with a Saints side with Lallana in the starting line-up, thus wrong-footing them somewhat (perhaps)

Bonkers or genius?

You decide.

Well done Brighton for winning the League, but if both sides play to their full potential, we win. Sides visiting the Withdean simply don't get a stiffy and raise their game the way they do when they walk out at SMS. On a level playing field, we are the better side. Hopefully we can prove it Saturday by turning them over on their turnip field with a side decimated by injury.

You are obviously bonkers, but I wholeheartedly agree!!!

Would easily be my team too. Considering the injuries we have, it's still mightily impressive and should see us through (just).

Both! The thing is we will not "shape up" to deal with you a we just play our own game and it will be a case of how you set up tactically...If results go your way on the Friday then Adkins may come for the draw.

As long as we are on our game then it will not matter as we are the better side and should win...The only variable is if Gus starts putting in some development players...We will see...

If both our teams play well, you are not better than us.

Not expecting anything from the game. They're very much up for beating us to apparently show they're better. Well, without Lallana, Schneiderlin and Chamberlain I think that becomes irrelevant. Tough place to go, we're not in great form and I just can't see anything but defeat in that atmosphere. If they get an early goal I can see a stuffing to be honest, but hopefully we won't get too bogged down in the overreaction on here. As far as I'm concerned it's about winning the final 4 games, anything from this is a huge bonus.

So you don't think Saints will also be "up for the game", considering this game means more to their season than it does for Brighton?

When you say Saints "aren't in great form", have you forgotten that Saints have picked up 25 points out of the last 30 points available?

I think if you substitute "form" for "performance" than perhaps adriansfc has a point.

And considering the bizarre 'giant-chip-on-our-shoulder' attitude of Brighton and the fact they're undefeated at home, they may be very well up for this game as much as us. We can do them though injuries or not.

Let's not kid ourselves lads, there is no way we are going to beat Brighton down at Saltdean, on the other hand we just cannot afford to lose. We must hope and pray for a draw 0-0 or 1-1 at best.

Losing seems to be the bookies favourite, if we do we are pretty much stuck with the play-offs as Titsfield are never going to lose their game. Even a draw will mean that we only got one point from the 2 games in hand over Titsfield assuming we win the remaining 4; does anybody really think we're going to achieve that on current form?

I hate myself for being so negative but this looks uncomfortably like a 3-1 defeat to me, Brighton will be on a high after clinching the league trophy!

Why on earth would we drop our captain for a game he will be incredibly up for?

Why drop Butterfield, Hammond AND Guly?! Guly not even in the squad despite the fact you can't think of enough players to fill the bench?

And who's this Dickinson fellow?

I would like to see:

--------------Davis-------------

Butterfield--Fonte--Jaidi--Dickson

-------Hammond--Chaplow-------

Forte----------------------Lallana

--------Lambert-----Guly---------

Possibly stick with Stephens rather than Chaplow as he hasn't done much wrong but also hasn't made a massive impression thus far.

Do you not reckon Guly is more suited to a forward role? I know Forte often played up front for Scunny but I'd say he is better used on the wing, or at least more effective out wide than Guly.

I'll take a draw on saturday though i'll be very surprised if we get it. Common sense says that brighton, the same brighton that matched us at home for 45 mins (admittedly the first 45 we were a lot better than them) when we had a stronger team, will win it.

My big worry if i'm being honest is risking lallana to early and losing him for the rest of the games. The difference he makes to the side is incredible and i'm sure we'd have won by a lot last saturday had he been there (the space in between their midfield and defence was incredible). Also this game won't be an easy one, there'll be some decent challenges and brighton will be desperate not to lose that home record so will hit us hard in attack.

Still think we'll do it even if we lose mind, but it's just going to be a nervy as **** last few games!

Just because a few teams have in the past, it doesn't mean Saints are under any obligation to follow suit.

how many teams mlg? and how long did each one last, oh and on what day where they??

Come on these are stats to be quoted, don't let us down now....
