south Posted 17 April, 2011 Share Posted 17 April, 2011 Yawn. So it would still be smaller, and I'd love to know the criteria for "better". Glass roof Every seat in the stadium is padded seats (same seat at the VIP areas of the Olympic Stadium) Rendered concourse walls and polished concourse floors State of the art hi definition screens each end - first in the country I think It's even got an internal warm up area for the players with artificial turf. Forget the false rivalry, you can't knock this stadium. It's up there (in terms of finish) with the Emirates and probably better in few respects because it's been built later. LGTL Posted 18 April, 2011 Share Posted 18 April, 2011 The Main Stand of their stadium is very impressive, the other stands makes it look like they run out of space. teamsaint Posted 18 April, 2011 Share Posted 18 April, 2011 We have a very nice, and suitably sized stadium. Falmer may well be fabulous. darlington have a 25000 seater. brighton won the league. We hope to come second, which would be just great. We would have settled for this at the start of the season.(me anyway). i am hoping for a nice trip down to see the amex next season. alpine_saint Posted 18 April, 2011 Share Posted 18 April, 2011 We have a tough decision to make for this game, imo. Do we chase the game, and risk bringing the likes of Lallana back early, or do we keep our powder dry, give them a couple more days to improve so that they are more effective against Hartlepool, but risk losing and letting Huddersfield and Posh coming back at out throats ? jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 18 April, 2011 Share Posted 18 April, 2011 I would play guly upfront if barney is injured. Guly is more effective upfront and this way the need for him to track back is less plus any astray passes will get less punished in theory. We can then have 3 or 4 midfielders who will work hard to try and contain brighton threat esp on the wings. So i would go for 4-4-2 with lallana on left (if fit) and forte or n'gussen on right. i was thinking about why connolly was not on the bench for the rochdale squad yet was on bench on sat and the game at leyton orient. f he was injured I would have thought he would have been missing on sat judging by his track history with injuries. So I am wondering they do not risk him for away games which involve long coach journey i.e rochdale to protect his long standing groin injury. Simster Posted 18 April, 2011 Share Posted 18 April, 2011 I'm quite surprised that you're still mentioning Posh as a threat to second. With four to play, surely they've left themselves with too much to do? It's down to Hudderfield or Southampton as far as I can see. As for this weekend, we're missing Gordon Greer to suspension. This is a big loss, although you wouldn't think so by looking at our last two results which have been very much business as usual. Apart from that, I think we'll have something like 26 fit players to choose from. I think this is going to be an interesting game - we don't have much to play for (except the 100 points barrier) but you have injury problems. This is not specifically aimed at Brighton, it's good that they have built a nice new stadium costing something like £80m - £90m however it would be well to remember that the majority of clubs that have built new stadiums including ourselves have gone into administration or suffer financial meltdown at best. Cabrone Posted 18 April, 2011 Share Posted 18 April, 2011 Being as we tend to do well in the big games I think we'll do OK on Sat. It's the 'easy 3 points' games against the lesser teams that make me nervous. I think we'll get at least a point and fingers crossed Hudders will lose. That would leave us needing 8 points from 4 games with 2 at home.
saint1977 Posted 18 April, 2011 Share Posted 18 April, 2011 Saints just need to focus, be professional and make sure there is no repeat of the Rochdale experience - how a club outside the playoffs can be more "up for it" than the team in second is beyond me. I celebrated as wildly as anyone else on Saturday when Guly scored the winner - out of relief as much as anything - but we must do far better on the run-in remaining. We are much better when we get an early goal as it settles the team down and stretches the game - so we have to strike early at Brighton and that means Lambert staying around the penalty area a lot more, the midfield apart from an increasingly dependable Hammond needs to link far better than it has of late and hopefully if Lallana is fit that may happen. Barnard's injury is a big concern, looks like Guly and Lambert with Connolly and N'Guessan on after an hour as impact subs.

No doubt, it's a nice little stadium...but... ...for me a little too nice, too comfy and too rural. Why do football stadiums need to be so sanitised...padded seats ffs...as long as you've got a roof to keep you out of driving rain, an unobstruted view of the pitch and you can get a beer and a p*ss then what else is required? Make them any more comfortable and fans will be falling asleep in the sterile atmosphere they encourage.

Are you sure?Well we did the same thing only last month against Carlisle so I suppose you could argue that it is. That was a strange game, my last game at Withdean and I because I took my seat 3 mins late, I didn't even know they had scored until we were 2-1 up. lol But you are right - the defence didn't look 100% in that game, and I don't think that would have been the case if Greer had been available. Still, I'd happily take a "not business as usual" 4-3 win against Southampton on Saturday if that's what you're offering

Have to disagree about the design of the stadium and the facilities on offer, as everything I have seen of it makes it look very good indeed. Understand your concern about sanitising football, but I think they haven't gone that overboard, they've just incorporated some of the latest thinking in to a wonderful ground. I do have doubts about location, as have always found out of town grounds to be sheite for a number of reasons, so wonder if it will break the mould there??? (so glad we didn't get Stoneham!!!!!). (Plus, without being too Green & Conservationist and always hoping that Brighton would finnd a new home for their long suffering supporters, then I have to say it looks very much out of place there and despite the design and landscaping it certainly impacts on The South Downs - how did they manage to pull that off??) But then what do I know.
Griffo Posted 18 April, 2011 Author Share Posted 18 April, 2011 Brighton DO have something to be inferior about. As The9 posted earlier, they are a much smaller club and have been below us for decades. As for the new stadium, great, but it's still smaller. Padded seats are **** and it shows how football is going these days, boring and sterile.

Seaborn if the threat up front for brighton has pace and not a lambert type if so then Jaidi. Also like Dickson alot and this he is better at not over exposing the position. Also when defending and manage to go on a counter I think Connolly will pose a nice threat Guly and Lambert have great skill and can hold up the ball well and Forte does have a nice bit of pace.
