Commentary from BBC Nottingham here... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/9434031.stm 53 without loss, just the sort of steady start I like to see early in the season, strike rate of about 3.6/over. Window Cleaner Posted 14 April, 2011 Posted 14 April, 2011 Ah sod it, our top order has just collapsed, we've gone from about 90 without loss to 104/4. 3 wickets in successive balls (not a hat-trick though, over changed) Knew it was too good a start to be true as they put us in.
dubai_phil Posted 14 April, 2011 Posted 14 April, 2011 204/8 Some work to do on first innings batting by the looks of it then
Weston Saint Posted 14 April, 2011 Posted 14 April, 2011 Trent Bridge is a seamers wicket early on in the season. Let's see how Notts perform when they bat before drawing any conclusions.
Berkshire Saint Posted 14 April, 2011 Posted 14 April, 2011 Yeah I agree. 217/9 now. If we can sneak up to 230/240 that might not be so bad a total.
Window Cleaner Posted 14 April, 2011 Posted 14 April, 2011 Yeah I agree. 217/9 now. If we can sneak up to 230/240 that might not be so bad a total. How about 218?
Berkshire Saint Posted 15 April, 2011 Posted 15 April, 2011 Haha oops. According to Twitter, Pothas is injured and the Notts Academy keeper is going to fill in until Bates gets to Nottingham!
chrisobee Posted 15 April, 2011 Posted 15 April, 2011 Notts 34/2. Both wickets to Griffiths in his 1st 2 overs. Pothas has a calf strain and Bates is due to arrive around mid day.
chrisobee Posted 15 April, 2011 Posted 15 April, 2011 57/2 Griffiths has 2/5 off 5 overs. Bowling excellently by all accounts.
chrisobee Posted 15 April, 2011 Posted 15 April, 2011 Lunch : Notts 85/3, De Wet bowls Hales for 20. All 3 wickets clean bowled which seems to be the best option !!
Minty Posted 15 April, 2011 Posted 15 April, 2011 127-5 now... need to get Patel though (48no) and to snatch whatever 1st innings lead we can.
Minty Posted 15 April, 2011 Posted 15 April, 2011 Bad light (I think) stopped play at 128-5... possibly a bit of rain in the air too.
Window Cleaner Posted 15 April, 2011 Posted 15 April, 2011 (edited) Bad light (I think) stopped play at 128-5... possibly a bit of rain in the air too. Back in play, looks like we're getting swamped a bit though. 233/5, more than 100 runs in about an hour. 18 no-balls,17 byes, 7 leg byes. Edited 15 April, 2011 by Window Cleaner
Minty Posted 16 April, 2011 Posted 16 April, 2011 293/9 at the close then... Those dropped catches (FOUR of them) came back to haunt us as Patel made 116! Gotta get that final wicket and concentrate on building a steady second innings total. If Patel can do it, why can't we?
Crab Lungs Posted 16 April, 2011 Posted 16 April, 2011 And we're off, Hants in bat. Griffiths 6/85 :-o
Window Cleaner Posted 16 April, 2011 Posted 16 April, 2011 And we're off, Hants in bat. Griffiths 6/85 :-o And spanked by the tail again.....our season is not shaping up well. Think we'll need a whole day of rain tomorrow.
um pahars Posted 16 April, 2011 Posted 16 April, 2011 7-1 with Dawson gone!!!!! Looks like there will be a result on this pitch and if we hadn't dropped so many chances yesterday (did I read we put down SEVEN!!!) then it may have been possible to sneak a win. As it stands, our best hope is to bat long and pray for some dark clouds (no chance of rain though). Given our injuries and the opponents I was happy with a draw against Durham and would definitely take a draw here (and concentrate on beating weaker sides). PS Minty were you looking for a game of cricket at some point (we're running two sides on Tuesdays this year and one on a Saturday and could always do with a few new faces)?????

A lot of chances put down and what seems,to me anyway, an incredible number of no-balls and byes, 52 extras or something like that.
Weston Saint Posted 16 April, 2011 Posted 16 April, 2011 Look at the Championsip favourites Somerset......Won the toss and put Warwickshire in.....scored a massive 642....bowled Somerset out for 210 and following on they are 13/4.... We are 20-2 Adams gone. Now our hopes rest with out South Africans...

Window Cleaner Posted 16 April, 2011 Posted 16 April, 2011 (edited) 21-3. Mckenzie gone. looks like that's about it then, just can't see the rest of our batting lasting for 3 sessions. As some famous grid iron coach once said (adapted of course) We can't bat, we can't bowl, can't catch the ball nor can we field, other than that we're just not a very good cricket team right now. Is the sub wicky allowed to bat? sounds like what we really need right here, right now is Henry Horton andf Jimmy Gray. 2 fellas who could bat all day, every day if they had to,leaving Marshall and Livingstone to get the runs. Window Cleaner Posted 16 April, 2011 Posted 16 April, 2011 Now at 56/6, might not even make them bat again.
Minty Posted 18 April, 2011 Posted 18 April, 2011 PS Minty were you looking for a game of cricket at some point (we're running two sides on Tuesdays this year and one on a Saturday and could always do with a few new faces)????? Yeah, was thinking about it Steve. Haven't played for about 14 years mind you!
Minty Posted 18 April, 2011 Posted 18 April, 2011 And the less said about the end of the Hampshire game the better...
Crab Lungs Posted 18 April, 2011 Posted 18 April, 2011 Yeah, was thinking about it Steve. Haven't played for about 14 years mind you! Haha, same as, though I'm currently deciding on whether to bat left or right-handed. I'm that good
