Griffin Park once used to be called Griffing Park, but in 1926 a mathematician and Brentford fan Mike Arlington noticed it was an anagram of "Frigging Krap", so they changed it.

Four pubs on each corner flag !!

And, apparantly, four corners to every pub in Brentford. Amazing.

Another little known fact is that Bradley Walsh's mum used to play in goal for the Bees before turning to comedy. When asked of the difference between playing football for Brentford and being a comedian she replied "it's the same thing innit"...

The roof of the ground is used for advertising and it is the largest outdoor advertising space in the world

Very interesting (if true)! I wonder whether SFC could monetise the roof at SMS? Lots of flybe jets going over it everyday, although probably nowhere near as much as in London/Heatrow flight paths...

Oh, and im going in the home end!

Rod Stewart also played for Brentford.

The ticket is on my order history online, so looks like I'm off to Griffin Park.

You could be right, mine is not although I didn't really expect to get one. Depends if they have a system or not I guess!

Shout for me!

Not sure why everyone's assuming that "all ticket" means that tickets won't be sold on the day ?

I'm not sure how Brentford define it, but plenty of clubs still sell tickets on the day, and "all ticket" just means no cash on the gate. Some clubs extend that to meaning "no match day sales" you shouldn't assume that's the case unless they actually say it.

I always used to like Wimbledon's approach when they were at Selhurst, which was that every match was all ticket, but they sold the tickets on the day at small offices right next to the away entrance, so you took literally two steps to the right with the ticket you'd just bought in order to give it up and get into the ground. Palace probably did the same thing.

FWIW I think anyone with 4 or more aways will be guaranteed a ticket (I got one for Bournemouth in a group averaging 3-4 and to Brighton in a group averaging 4-5), and there are about the same number of tickets as for AFCB and more or less the same number of matches as Brighton.

Three aways will give you a decent chance as well, I suspect.

Just checked, and I've got our 5 for Brentford (seats) on there. Weirdly it isn't yet showing my Brighton games even though I've been sent the tickets already, though that could be because the first number on the list (and person whose name was on the tickets printed before they put a sticker over it with my address on it) wasn't me.

Urgh...not looking too promising for me then. Fair enough as I've only been to one away game this season, although I am a STH and have been for a few years now.

Friday is a bank holiday so we won't the tickets until Tuesday at the earliest. I have got 6 away games, so I am hoping that will be enough

dont forget Saurday delivery me duck.

dont forget Saturday delivery me duck.

We're lucky to get Monday delivery even on non-Bank Holiday weeks... never mind Saturday.

Maybe this is why they are "assuming" it is all ticket? http://www.brentfordfc.co.uk/page/TicketNews/0,,10421~2338255,00.html

The discussion was about whether tickets would be sold on the day, as "all ticket" doesn't necessarily mean they can't.

Thanks for the link, but brilliantly that message still doesn't actually state that they won't be selling tickets on the day - it says what the weekday ticket office opening hours are, it says that people should collect tickets before the day of the game because there will be no facility to collect tickets on the day, and it states who is able to buy tickets generally for this match, but it doesn't ACTUALLY say they won't be selling them on the day.

It's quite possible that the reason they don't have the facility to provide pre-purchased tickets for collection on match day is because they're devoting all their ticket office resource to actually selling them instead.

That does seem unlikely, but why not categorically state they cannot be bought on the day, if that's the case ? The closest they come is the phrase "Tickets can be bought in person from The Ticket Office which is located within The Bees Superstore between 10am to 4pm each weekday", which still doesn't exclude the possibility that they can also be bought outside those times.

The Griffin was a mythical beast, half goat, half hamster. It lived in the next-door-but-one swamp to Shrek.

What's half eagle half lion then ? :D

Sounds just like my first wife, she was an old goat and had a little bit of hamster in her.

Best advice is to be mates with a proper fan who goes to loads of aways. Even a zero away will get you a ticket on the back of their super fandom.

Woooohoooo! with my one away game this season (although I've been to a fair few before + I've been a STH for a few seasons now) I've got my ticket :D

But is that on your own or were you part of a bigger group ?

Were all part of a group, time to ditch this system and make every away game first comemfirst served. We need to do this the easiest way for the club to manage. Contract it out and keep the booking fee for investment in the. community. Still use our staf but sum it out when it gets busy. Most of us know these 'secret' numbers anyway nthere will always be a rush so let's deal with every sale quickly and painlessly but most of all do it well and do it cheaply.

Some years ago the last game of the season at westam was ostensibly sold out and all ticket. Off we went as a carload and all got in, in various seats, to see the 3-3 draw. A few amusing experiences and some craic with a few neighbours who realised - "your LeTissier is really good" sort of thing. They aren't going to tell you tickets are available, but being discreet it's highly likely they will be...

Anyone heard if they've been successful in the ticket lottery?

According to my buying history I've now been sold a ticket, but have only been to one away game. I'll believe it when the ticket arrives, but if so it's brill cos I don't live too far away from Griffin Park.

We haven't fared too well against the Bees in the past so we must win this time. With their long ball game into the box and our vulnerability in defending these we must be alert at the back and midfield.
