rallyboy Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 not happy but, beat Bristol Rovers, Huddersfield draw at Charlton, jobs a goodun.
View From The Top Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Means we have more money ffs. Just have a pop at anyone who is dissapointed and frustrated by this result. Happy clapper. So a team battling to get into the play off positions didn't flip over onto their all fours for us and you are sliting your wrists? Get a grip you poof.
saint lard Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Stop giving Rochdale credit Nigel, accept some responsibility for getting the tactics wrong.
maysie Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 After losing to a team with 3,800 attendance at this stage of the season I think its certainly partially justified. You're annoying
Thedelldays Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 I can see the usual suspects are frothing at the mouth tonight.....
andysstuff Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Can't say I'm surprised - against an in-form team looking at a play-off place. We've had worse results this season. Still all to play for.
dubai_phil Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 If we had salvaged a draw then people would be a lot happier, but all it would've meant is +1 point and +2 on the GD. If we weren't going to win then a loss isn't much worse than a draw. It obviously all comes down to our reaction on Saturday, but there is no reason we can't still do this. We are 2nd with a game in hand, that's a fact. COYS! Actually feel more confident now, we've got the annoying loss out of our system and that will have wiped away any complacency in the players & management. The injuries have dictated the formation choice tonight, unfortunately it was a FAIL, but what I like about NA is he does learn
corsacar saint Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Shambolic first half tactics,Cocoa throws one in,and we could not hit a barn door in the second half. Not surprised,as this is our beloved Saints all over. It will be irony of all ironies if one of the pre season relegation favourites, stop us getting automatic promotion by getting the double over us. I hope we take this result out on Bristol Rovers on saturday.[For the record I do think in general since taking over NA has done a pretty good job,but he has to ditch the diamond, and play 4-4-2,which play to our strenghts.
Barry the Badger Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 I love it. Lose playing anything other than a standard 4-4-2 and it has to be the formation, even if that is the formation that we played whilst winning the previous game.
View From The Top Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 AL will play on Saturday and come 5.45 we will have 3pts in the bag.

Liquidshokk Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 AL will play on Saturday and come 5.45 we will have 3pts in the bag. Seems so far away doesnt it...
scotty Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 tbh, on reflection I'd probably have taken 3 points out of two tough away games. Just slightly deflating that we couldnt drag a point out of this one but hey ho, bring on saturday, fingers crossed that Adams fit for it, Nige sounded pretty confident about that
Saint Charlie Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Sounds like Lallana lively in the later stages so good that he seems to be ok.
Roger Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 So a team battling to get into the play off positions didn't flip over onto their all fours for us and you are sliting your wrists? Get a grip you poof. Nice thing to say, says a lot about you.
smithy Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Knew we would lose tonight, not a big deal, still very much in our hands.
DrunkenSaint Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 i predicted this result and we still make 2nd, all going to plan for my predition league.
adrian lord Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 couldn't see much wrong with the tactics from here Neither could I but then I am 250 miles away in Norfolk.
Smirking_Saint Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Stop giving Rochdale credit Nigel, accept some responsibility for getting the tactics wrong. You must be loving tonight, been shying away for a little while until you get to say your little bit !!
adrian lord Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 a bit over the top - a non-lethal, attention-seeking overdose is more in order tonight....
Dalek2003 Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 The main thing is that we are still on target for the play offs. As mentioned a few days ago we are neck and neck with Huddersfield and Posh and there is not much to choose between these three teams. I stand by my prediction, we will get into the play offs, second is a bonus.
egreog Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 4-0 defeat over 2 legs to Rochdale........quite embarrassing not to be able to score a goal in 2 games against them....but Oh so typical of Saints to do things the hard way!!
hypochondriac Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 A very disappointing result but we earnt a loss after our recent good form so I'm not totally depressed. I think tonight showed why people have reservations about Adkins, a lot of teams play this way against us and we have no answer. Brighton just haven't really had results like this and that is why they are promoted.
woodsaint Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Bit disappointing that a club with the stature of rochdale did the double over us this season, but......still well in our hands, bring on saturday!!
Saint_Ash Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Don't feel too bothered about it, most people were predicting two draws from the last two games and we did better than that. Still second with a game in hand. Huddersfield will drop loads more points yet. Win on Saturday and we stay 2nd. Really not worried at all.

Tractor_Saint Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Hey, we could have Cotterill summing up as usual like tonight: Goal 1: Free kick that wasn't a free kick. Goal 2: was a pen but not a free kick just b4. Goal 3: definitely not a pen. It's a funny old game.
Roger Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Right ive thought bout it and its not that bad, however after going to chralton and orient I wasnt very impressed with the performances and thought wed carry it on. I think at home we will win every game but away I worry after those performances. Think jaidi was nakered tonight. Centre mid isnt good tho.

As mentioned a few days ago we are neck and neck with Huddersfield and Posh and there is not much to choose between these three teams. Was looking forward to promotion celebrations on last game of season if not before. Still hope I guess.

Surely we've beaten most of them which shows an answer. Jesus, one loss that means not a great deal and some sad acts can't wait to jump down Adkins' throat.
ericb Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 not the result i'd have liked but not one i'm altogether surprised by. Still in our hands and i still think we'll do it. Saturday is a must win (though let's be honest it was before). Come on Saints, we're almost there lets just keep together for the rest of the season!

I stand by my prediction, we will get into the play offs, second is a bonus. You're view is depressing, isn't it? We're second, a game in hand, and have the easier run in than Huddersfield. Why would you predict us to get playoffs?? We simply can't accept the playoffs, we're just not that sort of team.
DG Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 4-0 defeat over 2 legs to Rochdale We will smash them in the playoffs
Capel Saint Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Still in Saints hands now with two tough away fixtures out of the way, we have 5 winnable games and with Brighton already promoted they may relax a little a bit and perhaps nick a win or a draw. Stay upbeat people!
saint lard Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 (edited) You must be loving tonight, been shying away for a little while until you get to say your little bit !! Yeah i just love it when Saints lose. Look at the bigger picture for gods sake. And i assure you i have not been 'shying away'. I give credit when it's due and critisim when that applies also. And tonight, the latter is applicable. Make someone else your scapegoat, others have been critical also, and in a more verciferorus manner. Views on games can be too polarised at times, perhaps you should concede that there can be a middle ground to be found. Edited 12 April, 2011 by saint lard

EastleighSoulBoy Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Rather more concerned with the performance of the forum than Saints this evening. Couldn't get on and then when I finally did it would take ages to change thread or refresh. Still very glad that I have not stumped up £5 to rejoin. Fire away you wrist slitters!

Saint_lambden Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Simon Williams - Official Saints Site Editor: "Disappointing night but wasn't confident of getting much. arriving just 15 mins before kick-off possibly a new and unwanted record #saintsfc" Probably didn't help (^) but still a poor showing. For god sake Saints just get us out this sodding League!
rocknrollman no2 Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 The main thing is that we are still on target for the play offs. As mentioned a few days ago we are neck and neck with Huddersfield and Posh and there is not much to choose between these three teams. I stand by my prediction, we will get into the play offs, second is a bonus. Sorry Dalek i disagree. The play offs are underachieving. With our resources and spending power, anything less than second is a massive failure.
ericb Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 To be fair to lard he's made some pretty spot on comments about our performances at home which have been under par (but we've won). I really don't see what's achieved by scapegoating or attacking different points of view unless they damage the team - like so many of the needless attacks on players like puncheon and forte during the game. Now is the time to accept others differences, ignore trolling from the likes of Dalek (who's consistently hilarious with it), and be as one till the end of the season in my opinion.
Leicestersaint Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Disappointing but we're still in a good position. We clearly got the tactics wrong in the first half.
Dalek2003 Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Will be so many disappointed fans who won't get tickets to see us promoted if it goes to playoffs. Was looking forward to promotion celebrations on last game of season if not before. Still hope I guess. I don't know, why the fans should feel disappointed, play offs with a fairly new manager is a good achievement. if we get to OT could be a great day out !
SW11_Saint Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Disappointing result, but it's Saints, it was never going be that easy. The stats show we threw the kitchen sink at them. Still in our hands, back on track Saturday...
