dune Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Do any of you do it? I think it'd been really cool if we all did it.
GenevaSaint Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Do any of you do it? I think it'd been really cool if we all did it. Which one of your multiple ex personalities would you put on though!
Dimond Geezer Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Rumour has it that Turkish may have done this
Micky Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Personally I think that Dibden Purlieu Saint, man-of-raisin, georgeweahscousin, Thedelldays, David in Sweden and View from the Top might be just a few of our members who think that this is a pretty bad idea Dune. Haven't spoken 'to any of them personally - it's just a hunch that I have.
Turkish Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Rumour has it that Turkish may have done this It is not me. I know it's a huge conicidence but i dont wear replia shirts ever, the only Saints shirt i own is a retro 80's one which i wear at five a side. I dont know who the bloke it and have never seen him until a good friend of mine snapped him leaving SMS a few months back. Back in 2003 when the new super fans invaded S4E they did this, along with thier seating plans so they could all wave at each other during the game. F*cking sad.
Dalek2003 Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Would it be safe for me to put Dalek on my replica shirt ?

What about post-it-notes attached with safety pins?
Turkish Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Would it be safe for me to put Dalek on my replica shirt ? I thought you'd put Hoddle?
Dalek2003 Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 I thought you'd put Hoddle? No, anyone would think I was obsessed.
Turkish Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 What about post-it-notes attached with safety pins? Only if you use one for each letter.
hamster Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Would it be safe for me to put Dalek on my replica shirt ? Or "Hoddle"
hamster Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Still got mine from the forum match, not seen the light of day since though. Anyone got "puncheon"?
Toomer Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 I have only once had anything on the back of a shirt, that was almost seven years ago when my daughter got me a yellow away shirt with Dad 50 on it, if she gets a shirt in the same vain in three years time she will be cut out of the will.
dubai_phil Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 One thing worse than having your forum name on a shirt... Having a stalker who has YOUR name on THEIR shirt

Now that is very cool. I know someone with Fat Man on their shirt which is also very cool.
Turkish Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Now that is very cool. I know someone with Fat Man on their shirt which is also very cool. Generally people look cool in football shirts though, especailly when they have a huge beer belly and wear them with 3/4 length tracksuit bottoms and Reebok classics. THe only thing cooler in that occasion is one of those £3.99 fake shirts you can buy from Sports Soccer with England written across it in red.
saintbletch Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Who are you? (asked of St_Guido) My bet is that he's either a radical catholic terrorist, a Tory party blogger or his real name is Guy. I've got 6 replica shirts with the user names of different forum members on them. I go to games and pretend to be a real **** to make the real forum posters look bad. I'm also sponsored by two stay-away posters on here to wear replica shirts with their name on it to convince others that they do actually attend matches.
The9 Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Still got mine from the forum match, not seen the light of day since though. Anyone got "puncheon"? Even mine from the Forum match had my actual surname on it. Pretty sure OohTerryHurlock's didn't though

hamster Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Even mine from the Forum match had my actual surname on it. Pretty sure OohTerryHurlock's didn't though After one single wash mrs h put mine in the tumble dryer on 'very ****ing hot'. It now resembles Arabic slightly. Iirc oth did have the full forum name both times. Maybe that's why it's so expensive this year as they need to recoup what they lost.

THe only thing cooler in that occasion is one of those £3.99 fake shirts you can buy from Sports Soccer with England written across it in red. Bugger! I am no longer cool! Having lost 5 stone I am only 2/3's cool now when it's warm enough for 3/4 lengths.
Hatch Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 It would have been the name of a youth team player. So no. I would have been arrested for perversion.
Wycombe Saint Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 I am guna get alpine on the back of mine. Then try and run the gauntlet past the stadium on a match day without getting punched!
SNSUN Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 "saint no stopping us now" would cost me a fortune if I paid per letter, SNSUN would mean nothing to anyone. Now as for getting my avatar blown up and put on the back of my shirt...
Hatch Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 anyway, the shirt would just cover my username tattoo that I have
Mattio Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 "saint no stopping us now" would cost me a fortune if I paid per letter, SNSUN would mean nothing to anyone. Now as for getting my avatar blown up and put on the back of my shirt...I had no idea that's what your name meant... learn something new every day!
hamster Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 I had no idea that's what your name meant... learn something new every day! Me too. Preferred not knowing tbh
Ken Tone Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Me too. Preferred not knowing tbh What have you got against tbh? He's a really nice fella Back to the OP. This is daft idea Dune. Think how many users would get risk getting sacked once ther bosses realised they spent so much of their work time on here. Of course in your case you'd presumably be wearing a veil.
hamster Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 /\ /\ Btw Ken Tone I did quite like your quip, had to read twice actually.
PaulSaint Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 My mate "C¥nt Saint" tried this last year, he hasn't been let in the ground yet?
The9 Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 My mate "C¥nt Saint" tried this last year, he hasn't been let in the ground yet? Surely more likely that he'd have got in and then been immediately thrown out when he got past the turnstile operator ?
sad saints fan Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 "saint no stopping us now" would cost me a fortune if I paid per letter, SNSUN would mean nothing to anyone. Now as for getting my avatar blown up and put on the back of my shirt... I think the avatar idea is a good one

Now as for getting my avatar blown up and put on the back of my shirt... You could save some money if you just drop your trousers and bend over ! Hth
PokingFun Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 One thing worse than having your forum name on a shirt... Having a stalker who has YOUR name on THEIR shirt I can just see Sad Old Git with Alpine Saint on his shirt .... defo not other way around as we know Alps cannot make games ;-)
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Way too expensive for my liking. Oh, and very, very sad.
sambosa75 Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 You could save some money if you just drop your trousers and bend over ! Hth SNSUN will do a lot of things for a free shirt but I'm not sure thats one of them. Fair play for being so forward though...
saintjay77 Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 It would have been the name of a youth team player. So no. I would have been arrested for perversion. I know his Dad. Naff all to do with the topic but thought I would contribute.
The9 Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 I think we're all pretty much in agreement that the Forum name on shirt thing is pretty sad. Setting aside all the "best clobber to the match" types who think all shirt wearing is sad, and those who think all names on shirts are sad, what exactly is it that makes the use of a forum name particularly, "crossing the line sad" ? I think there's a hierarchy of match attending clothing wearing attitudes, and readily accept as a "shirter" that it's marginally less cool than wearing your own clothes, so : No replica shirts to matches Replica with no name/number Replica with number only Replica with some Liebherr related reference Replica with name and number (I don't see any difference between lameness of having your "own name" or a "player name" but some may differ) Replica with nickname and number Replica with other slogans Replica with slogan incorporating "8" and "Pompey" or similar Replica with Forum User Name and number. But WHY is the forum name bottom of this list ? Is it because the Forum isn't real life and going to a match is, and there's some implicit lameness in crossing over from one to the other ? Is it because online personae are generally a bit... weak ? What is it ?
SNSUN Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 I had no idea that's what your name meant... learn something new every day!Twas my username from years ago on 606 and S4E. The joke got old so I shortened it. I think the avatar idea is a good one in your case, I'm thinking sod the shirt, life size inflatable doll. You could save some money if you just drop your trousers and bend over ! Hth I think people would pay me to keep my arse covered up, it's nothing like my avatar...

Because whilst anonymity is acceptable and possibly essential on line, in the flesh this would be like inventing your own nickname. As sad as Ince calling himself the guv'nor. (Who was it on here that was so keen for him to be our manager btw. Not done well lately has he?)

How does putting your own nickname that others gave you fit into it ? There's still that element of giving it to yourself by putting it on the shirt...?
