Oh no, Mulder & Scully were right after all, the FBI says so...

Secret FBI files have been released detailing how US officials saw a UFO explode over Utah – and aliens land near Roswell in New Mexico.

Bring on the nut jobs and told you so's

So FBI documents confirm the 'nutjobs' were right all along, and yet you still classify them as nutjobs?

Interesting

There was an excellent documentary on this called 'Plan 9 from Outer Space'.

lol, anybody remember that channel 4 series of the worst B-movies ever made? I can recall Plan 9, the robot monster, the creeping terror (about a killer carpet hahahaaa,) there were ten of them altogether I think.

Yep wasn't The Blob one of them? At the time I think The Forbidden Planet fell into that category but as everyone now knows that really was a classic, we need one of the older forum members like Eric to be able to confirm that of course 8)

Oh and Bexy... Yep nutjobs. Not my definition per se, but the fact they've been labelled nutjobs for the last 60 odd years, they can now feel they have been vindicated & if they're Americans no doubt can find a good lawyer and use this evidence to sue tha pants off everyone who thought they were a nutjob

Yep, Gillian could give it to me any time

+1

and on a point of interest, I have the FHM edition with Gillian Andersons pics in, apparently it was in short supply for some reason and the yanks were forking out $400 a go for it on ebay. I wonder if that still holds good

I met an interesting psychologist last year called Chris French, who pretty convincingly argues that all claims of alien abduction are explained by a psychological event called sleep paralysis, during which hallucinations are common. More than half the population has experienced something like this at least once in their lives (which should mean a fair few on here):

"The light had been switched off, and a comfortable feeling of warmth and heaviness marked the onset of sleep. But suddenly a slurping sound startled the sleeper. Everything seemed completely normal – until he noticed the green liana which had grown from the pot plant and reached his body.

"Every movement became impossible, and every scream was smothered by the plant material that was growing around his mouth and throat. Thoughts raced through the mind: This wasn't a nightmare, the reality of the room was far too distinct and his perception and thinking were far too clear. Were the plants taking revenge on humankind, or had aliens conquered the planet?"

The dreamer, in this case, was an eminent geoscientist from Edinburgh. What makes sleep paralysis particularly frightening is that, as the term suggests, you just can't move away from the threat and yet you're apparently wide awake (even though you're actually dreaming).

Nice theory, but completely debunked

See South Park, Cartman gets an A**l probe.

It was on South Park so must be true

The most terrfying ordeal I've encountered was during a sleep paralysis episode (I used to be quite prone to these).

During sleep, my eyes were open and I was looking towards the ceiling of my bedroom but there was this floating monster head growling at me from above. Scared is an understatement, so I quickly tried to awake my body (it takes a while).

It vanished as soon as I awoke but when I closed my eyes its outline was etched into my sight, like colours from a flash. I could clearly make out its outline, even though I was awake.

That is precisely the thing that Chris French is describing - and episodes like this, he says, are surprisingly common, except that people are generally reluctant to admit they've experienced them. Sleep paralysis isn't only what's really going on when people claim they've been abducted by aliens (or attacked by demons in other cultures); it's been the inspiration of innumerable horror movies.

Interesting also that you describe the effort to wake up. Chris maintained that most people are aware that they are dreaming, in some sense, and that the only escape is to wake up - except of course, they're paralysed and they are 'dreaming-awake'.

Seems the worst of all nightmares.

Forgive me, but I think I'd pass on one man's research and optimistic conclusion. ;)

Think there's a slight difference between Photographs, Radar Returns and "Police/Pilots/Military" reporting "Unknown Aerial Phenomenon" reports which to me now appear to be released more regularly (along with many by our own MOD in the past year) and Sleep Paralysis.

The article & OP gave no indication of discussion about "Alien Abductions", simply that FBI files have been released relating to Roswell (amongst others) which is interesting as it is one of the great "Conspiracy Theories of our Time".

IMHO it will be interesting to see what else pops out as a result of that - ooh that gave an image of John Hurt's innards in the original Alien....

the diversion by Verbal was however interesting

You're very welcome. Sleep paralysis and its characteristics are by no means 'one man's research' (the one man being Professor of Psychology at Goldsmiths' College, London). It's a reasonably well studied phenomenon among professional psychologists, and I don't know of any that dispute Chris's basic argument. You could try and find some if you like, to support your 'pass'. I'd be interested to see a professional counterargument.

They'll never be disclosure by any Western Government IMO - because, in dribs and drabs, it's already being acknowledged and documents, like the one you mentioned, are being released. But with X-Factor and other ****e clogging up the mainstream media, anything remotely significant in this genre will never be exposed to many.

Anyway... they can't disclose fully, it'll be like saying "Oh, you know those abductions you had? Well, yeah, sorry about that - we have no way of stopping them" - an admission that they have no control over their own people being subjected to it.

I used to suffer from sleep paralysis all the time but it seems to have gone away for some reason. It is a very uncomfortable and strange experience, especially the first few times it happens. After that you quickly learn to accept what is happening and you don't feel the same sense of panic at not being able to move.

I can't say I've ever had any aliens invovled though. To my knowledge that is.

Lol think that applies to far more things than simply UFO's
