Badger Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 Come on saints A draw isn't the end of the world, but if we want to keep second place ours then it's a must win. Please lets not mess up another game in hand.
Saint Charlie Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 Reckon Rochdale is the toughest game left. A draw would be ok, a win brilliant.
dronskisaint Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 anyone know how many tickets we've got? I phoned the ticket office yesterday and it's cash at the turnstile with up to 3000 capacity in the away end. Would be chuffed as hell if we can get 1000-1500 up there on a Tuesday night but it's probably the last away game that's not sold out so worth the effort...I'm looking forward to it!
dune Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 Every game is massive from now on in. All we've got to do is win. Simple.
Appy Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 Looking forward to this one. New ground, a repeat of our last trip to that neck of the woods would be nice!
corsacar saint Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 Some what ironic that 3 of are last 4 away games are against the only sides to have one at SMS.[Hopefully the only 3]. Before the Orient game 4 points would have been fantastic from the 2 away games,so would take a draw at Rocdale, although obviously a win would be preferable. Before the season started Rochdale would have been down for 6 points for us surely,so you have to take your hats off to them for beating us here, and doing so well in general. Gary Jones and Chris O Grady are the players we surely have to stop playing.MK Dons won 4-1 their a few weeks back so on that basis,a win could be possible. Hopefully Adam will play and we will go and attack them, which is our strenght, instead of sitting back against Orient in the second half. When we get pushed back[which luckily is not too often],we can sometimes be vulnerable.
martel Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 Agreed, losing against them at SMS was a real downer, I see they lost to Colchester away 1-0, lets hope and pray that kind of form continues.
Saint_clark Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 Brighton away? I get the feeling the majority of our fans are "budgeting" for a loss there.
Lighthouse Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 (edited) If anyone wants to go and needs a lift, PM either myself or Justmike. We're taking a car and could use another passenger to spread the fuel cost (will be about £15-£20 each if we get 4 of us). Edit: Now taken. Edited 10 April, 2011 by Lighthouse
benjii Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 A win would be brilliant and would make our chances of finishing second something like 90%+ IMO. A draw would also be fine.
View From The Top Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 The nipper and I will be there. Tough game but I fancy us to get 3pts.
Hopkins Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 Would take a point right now. Will be really tough and a point is not a bad result here.
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 Des anyone have room for an adult and a boy? Obviously will pay our way. Going from Eastleigh. eastleighsoulboy@gmail.com

If Jaidi isn't fit enough to play then play Martin, with Seaborne on the bench. 2-0 Saints Hammond 42 Barnard 59
RobM Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 Would take a point right now. Will be really tough and a point is not a bad result here. I have to agree, this is going to be a tough fight. Our hardest remaining game except Brighton, IMO.
View From The Top Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 I have to agree, this is going to be a tough fight. Our hardest remaining game except Brighton, IMO. It will be tough, but this is a different Saints team and they know it's there for the taking.
THEVMAN Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 -----------------------DAVIS------------------ BUTTERFIELD-----FONTE-----JAIDI-----HARDING -------CHAPLOW-----HAMMOND----DICKSON---- -----------------------GULY------------------- ---------------BARNARD-----LAMBERT---------- Subs: Bart, Richardson, Martin, Gobern, Lallana, Forte, Connolly If Lallana is fit enough to start then put him in Guly's position and move Guly back to Chaplow's position. paulwantsapint Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 How is Rickie seen by their fans? Can see another double for the strikers in hard fought game
Lighthouse Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 Any body going up from bristol? Check the away forum, we've hatched a plan.
Appy Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 How is Rickie seen by their fans? Can see another double for the strikers in hard fought game They gave him a very good reception at SMS.
Saint_John Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 The referee is due to be Mark Haywood from West Yorkshire (? isn't that a bit close to Udders ??). No Saints games this season, but he did the Exeter away last (1-1) and the Preston away 2 season ago (2-3). He was ref this season for Rochdale defeat at Peterboro (2-1). At the weekend he did the D&G v Notts Co game and sent off a player, prior to that he did the Cherrys (silly name) draw with Charlton (2-2) which some Saints fans may have gone to as our game against Plymouth was off.
Saintandy666 Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 This won't be easy. Rochdale are on a roll recently.
Saint Garrett Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 I think this is our hardest remaining game, I think we'll beat Brighton.
Viking Warrior Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 Rochdale will be up for this especially with a game in hand on the cherries and close to the play off places.
itchen_dan Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 Have to agree with others. I feel that this is tougher than the Brighton game. I think that we will go to the Withdean and get 3 points and I think the same for Tuesday night but only just. Gonna be a close, hard fought game. Saints to win 3-2! COYS!
bjk Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 By far our toughest remaining game, tougher than Brighton who will be promoted Tuesday night with victory against Dagenham. We can afford one more defeat and I think this will be the game.2-1 defeat.
Matthew Le God Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 We can afford one more defeat and I think this will be the game.2-1 defeat. Saints are ahead of Huddersfield and have played 39 games compared to Huddersfield's 41. Saints can afford two defeats minimum and still be sure of promotion (as long as there isn't a massive goal difference swing), possibly more than two defeats if Huddersfield drop any more points.
Dellman Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 In the last two games we've had big contributions from players normally on the bench, hardly missed Oxo, Adam and of coures Morgan, this is brilliant for the future but makes team selection for the present quite difficult. We are blessed with riches, never could understand the mugs who just want us to buy more and more
Dr Who? Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 Beat Rochdale and win our remaining home games and we will be up!! Job done.
Dalek2003 Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 People are getting ahead of themselves. I think a play off place is the most likely scenario and 2nd would be a nice bonus.
Saint_Jonny Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 People are getting ahead of themselves. I think a play off place is the most likely scenario and 2nd would be a nice bonus. ........
alpine_saint Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 This game is tougher, much tougher than Brighton, for reasons stated above. i) We are "budgeting" for losing at Brighton, but want something from this game. ii) Brighton may well be freewheeling by then, having won the championship
Matthew Le God Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 This game is tougher, much tougher than Brighton, for reasons stated above. i) We are "budgeting" for losing at Brighton, but want something from this game. ii) Brighton may well be freewheeling by then, having won the championship How do you know Nigel Adkins and the squad are budgeting for a defeat at Brighton? I very much doubt they are.
dubai_phil Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 This game is tougher, much tougher than Brighton, for reasons stated above. i) We are "budgeting" for losing at Brighton, but want something from this game. ii) Brighton may well be freewheeling by then, having won the championship Agree. Think it will be tough enough that we will need one of your perfectly timed appearances on the match thread and a full 90 minutes concentration on GIFS & Nuns. MORE important will be for Nige to calm the team down after Saturday and get them to run out on the pitch knowing they have to fight for the right to play. If the team do that we'll be fine, but any slight complacency after the run we have had of late......
S-Clarke Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 People are getting ahead of themselves. I think a play off place is the most likely scenario and 2nd would be a nice bonus. play offs at the moment is a very unlikely scenario. It will take a serious dip in form for us to miss out on 2nd. (Our form would need to return to the Wilkins period) We got 10 points from the last 4 games. We now have 7 games to get 15 points (But i still think 11/12 will be enough...) Over the last 7 games we have accumulated 19 points, the 7 games before that we accumulated 14 points and the 7 games before that we got 13 points. See what I'm getting at....? And those groups of 7 games include defeats at the likes of Tranmere/Wallsall etc. So we even have the luxury of being able to drop a point or two (not saying we will)
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Definitely need to avoid defeat and the negativity that would engender. A draw would be a decent result. A win would be fantastic. Can't agree with those who think we can 'afford' to lose - because it impacts confidence. Besides, we owe them for their smash and grab job at SMS. Time to **** them up.
Eaststander Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Rory McIlrory proves that there is no such thing as cast iron certainty. Not many would have bet against him this time yesterday. No budgeting for defeats, that is not professional. one game at a time, 3 points at a time. The squad will have to dig deep for this one, as we are now running without 3/4 key players. Yes we are in the box seat, but we have to finish the job now. We are not relying on other results, so it is completely in our hands. It is within touching distance, but like a marathon, the half way point is at about 20/21 miles. A win on Tuesday will be a big boost to maintaining the momentum we currently have, and another step along the path. But that's it. COYR.
beatlesaint Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Definitely need to avoid defeat and the negativity that would engender. A draw would be a decent result. A win would be fantastic. Can't agree with those who think we can 'afford' to lose - because it impacts confidence. Besides, we owe them for their smash and grab job at SMS. Time to **** them up. The only negativity would be on here !!! We can afford to lose 2 games and still be alright, we cant keep winning, we have to drop 2 or 3 points somewhere along the line and as has already been suggested this could be our hardest game. I think of any points gained at Rochdale as a bonus cos we still have a game in hand, and i think we will get something at Brighton.
West End Saint Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 I am going gutted I missed the Orient game sounded ace on the Radio so I am really looking forward to this game any win would be ace a draw not the end of the world it would be nice to keep the winning run going. I am going for a nail bitting 2 1 COYS
Saint Fan CaM Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 We will lose this I fear 2-1 meaning squeeky bum time until the next match. Rochdale are a team in form, at home. Saints will take it to the wire - it's what we do.
Petersfield Saint Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 I think we will win at Brighton; Rochdale will be tougher...
