MMnnn AOC is a Ex Saint me thinks..... TBC

And He aint all that ! watch the replays and most are just pure luck would be like saying Forte is worth 5m. If we dont sell AOC this summer we will be lucky to get 1m because he will not cut it a League above.

strange...... very strange

TBF

He is a great little player with a lot of potential, perhaps he has not hit the form that Lallana has this season but the lad is only 17 and still learning his trade, the technical level he is playing at at the moment is great to watch though and IMHO he has more potential then Walcott had, perhaps not Bale.

However, part of me does agree that I think he may be an Ex saint already, not ITK, not heard any rumours, just purely IMO I believe he may have already signed a contract somewhere else. It has too much like the Ronaldo deal about it.

Hopefully I am wrong.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am not sure whether there is form for this, but failing any tradition I'd suggest we put up a poll after the Plymouth game with a view to having POTS named before the Walsall game.

We have the ability to have 14 options so the fairest way will likely be to base the candidates on the 14 with most # of appearances.

And before anyone asks, it will be First Past the Post, not AV.

No apologies for bumping my own thread with this brilliant picture of two of the front runners:

Passion, determination and team spirit personified imo.

Radhi's got such a kind face but why is he pinching Fonte?

You'd think he'd be nice to him after nullifying his (as good as a) own goal.

1) Lallana

2) His mum

3) His dad

The line up in results with and without Lallana are absolutely staggering and he is without doubt the best player by far in this division. Over the years I have felt that the players have very little to compare with the fans as far as loyalty goes. This is the first season for a long time where I feel the players are caring as much as us to what happens. The attitude of Lallana, Ricky, Fonte and especially Jaidi have been absolutely fantastic, even to the extent of spreading through the whole team. Without that attitude I am not sure we would have dug out that result at Brighton and why Puncheon was taken off the bus for the better.

Fonte for me. My heart says Lallana, but Fonte has been a rock, has scored a few at some vital moments and rarely puts a foot wrong. My heart says Lallana, but this is a judgement over an entire season and he just hasn't been there enough, whereas Fonte has been consistently brilliant.

Kelvin deserves a big shout - "Watch your near post!".

But for his outstanding contribution this season Lambert is a good shout...I guess it's between 4-of them:

Lambert, Davis, Fonte & Lallana

My vote would be for Kelvin - clean sheets are not easy at any level...well done Kelvin one great effort!

Fonte has been the most consistent by far, but we've really missed Lallana when he's not played. Lambert has notched up an impressive amount of goals considering his problems with injuries at the start of the season, and Barnard has also scored many important goals for us despite his off-field problems. Davis has been his usual solid self, and now has the record for most clean sheets in a Saints shirt. Chamberlain has made a remarkable breakthrough from youth team to first team, courting some of the world's biggest clubs along the way. In reality, the award could go to any of those players, but we can't discredit the hard work that the likes of Hammond, Butterfield, Harding, Jaidi, Chaplow etc have put in without necessarily sparkling like the others. It's not just the players that have helped our cause either - our backroom and boardroom team have done fantastically this season. Adkins has come in and given us stability at the managerial helm, given the players a new sense of belief and instilled a really positive attitude around the club. Andy Crosby and the rest of the coaching staff have obviously been putting in lots of work on the training ground - the number of goals we've scored from set-pieces is testimony to that. Nicola Cortese could have easily accepted a large bid for AOC in the January window, but he stayed firm and put the team first - something that not many of our former chairmen would have done.

However much I would like to vote for the entire staff at SMS, my vote has to go to Lallana.

Based on appearances the 14 nominations would be:

Lambert

Davis

Fonte

Hammond

Harding

Butterfield

Lallana

Jaidi

Barnard

Chaplow

Schneiderlin

Guly

Chamberlain

Puncheon*

*Given that I would delete any thread that named Puncheon as our player of the season that leaves Seaborne with the remaing berth

Any spectactular ommissions from that list?

IMO Fonte Lallana Barnard have been the best in there positions would be between them for me, but for my bias love for fonte and mrs fonte before the recent goal scoring form i would vote him, plus the fact i saw him thurs and never had the balls to ask for a autograph or photo as i was star struck more then, when i was 15/16 meeting Claus Crouch Niemi Oakley Beattie etc...

Lallana for me, I agree Fonte should be close as he has had a superb season, we just cannot or would not be anywhere near where we are without AL, his ability on the blal makes him league one's best player, and therefore our player of the season too, here's hoping he wants another season with us next year!

THIS

Player of The Season - not just the games he has been fit for - (Adam would win hands down on that one) - but over the season and now with the timing of his 2 goals this week (plus all the others) ..... Jose ... he's the man.

But it is great that there are so many candidates with a chance - shows it has truly been a team effort.

Lala's time will come - the next MLT if he stays with us for sure!!

Like many on here : Lambert, Fonte & Lallana my top three, but given Adam has missed a third of the season must be between JF & RL. Both have been crutial in getting us where we are but given our defensive record and being the only constant in a ever changing back four plus his vital goals it has to be Fonte for me.

Id go for

1. Fonte

2. Lambert

3 Lallana

4. Jaidi.

Lallana has only scored 7 and not played enough games.

Only scored 7?! BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Lallana out! ;)

No, I jest. But I'm serious when I say Lallana is by and far the best player in the division and has proved it again this season despite being injured. It'll be really strange if he doesn't win this year in my opinion, but Fonte would be a brilliant back up choice.

I guess this is a bit similar to the "who is the best team in the League?" question.

On paper, it's us - the arrogant team from Hampshire, but on pure results it's them lot from down the road in Sussex.

Who's the best player on our books? Why, Mr Lallana, of course. But does that make him the player of the season?

In my view, yes, because his presence in the side has galvanised the team and (usually) results in a win. Think back to the games earlier on the season where Adam was out of action; we struggled (relatively).

But, if 'number of appearances' is a key decision maker for people then my POTS on that basis would be Fonte.

Tried voting when that first appeared, but email bounced back.

My sister voted today and got a postmaster failure email back as well as 'Thank you for voting' email

Just sent one myself and same thing happened with mine.. could be high voting count as people who receive the failure email will vote more times thinking their votes hasnt be counted!

I sent in my vote by e-mail and got a reply from the club, I also got a 'bounced mail' notice for the same mail.

Strange huh.

Just tried again and mine just did that for first time. Makes you wonder if vote actually arrived. Wouldn't want Fonte to miss out.........

This. The voting system for Player of the Year is quite clearly flawed.

Does someone manually count up the emails they receive? I mean, surely if it was done automatically then the subject line and player name would have to be exactly right not everyone would put the accent above the e in José Fonte?!?

The poll system used on here would be better than the current system. Be good to actually see how votes are going that way too.
