Good part time cash in hand jobs.

Ok I am finding things a bit of a stuggle at the moment with a shortage on cash coming into the household, and even though we have cut down out outgoings and not going to much football or gigs at the moment, we are still finding ourselves short each month.

Now I have been refereeing on Sundays at weekend for extra cash, but I have my last games of the season tomorrow. Now this is a great source of income which also keeps you very fit, so good on both counts. Being the end of the season I have been trying to think of other means of cash in hand jobs for evenings or weekends.

I have applied to the local paper for a paper round which I could do one evening a week with my daughter, and I have seen these other delivery jobs in the paper.

I also wondered if anyone did umpiring in Cricket or does any other summer sports that you need an offical for and if you get paid for it?

Just looking for ways of getting buy after getting rid of Sky Movies, Sky sports, my monthly scinema pass, and cutting out the take aways, football, and going to gigs...... what is left lol.

Even though I say this I know there are people in a worse position but just looking for ways of getting by for now from month to month.

Proof reader?

Take sways often want delivery drivers, free grub at the end of your shift too can't be bad when you are struggling to make ends meet.

Also, get up in the loft and have a clear out on eBay or do a car boot sale?

Take away drivers are a good one and we used all the local takeaways up until the last month or so. I will be contacting them. Now who would you get in contact with for proof reading?

Ebay is always a good one and get a fair amount on some of the stuff, but again it is the fees that hit you in the pocket at the end of the month.

Thanks some good ideas that I will be following up.

Proof reading was a joke, whoosh.

Take aways are also not shy in paying cash in hand I understand. Before turning down £5 or £6 an hour remember that in cash that is worth about 30% more. Cash is king, always has been, always will.

Do you have a driving license?

A good mate of mine has just started his own catering company but is keeping the cash coming in between jobs as a courier. Apparently there is loads of work out there. Admittedly this is in London which I'd imagine is probably busier than Southampton/Hants but might be worth looking in to.

I am afriad my background is office/finance/accounts work which I do full time, but have catering management, chef and waiter skills which were the stepping stones to catering management going back. Love most sports, but not really a gardener, or a painter! Also it has to be evenings and weekends, because of my full time job.

Tax dodging ****.

Mind you, I would be a bit embarrassed declaring tax on hand jobs too.

Well I was working in my local Italian restaurant in the evenings, long hours for rubbish pay and then the tax man was taking most of it, because it was a second job!! So I was working 8am to 5pm and then 6pm until 12am!! For nothing, and ok my passion is in being a chef and catering but the money an the hours are rubbish!!

Not frightened to work for my money though, and at least I am getting off my arse and trying to get myself out of the hole!!! It is tough out there at the moment though.

I PMed you, but I'll post this link here anyway after second thoughts, just in case anyone else is looking for spare cash. You need to look at the link for "internet assessor's program" http://en-us.lionbridge.com/global-crowdsourcing/jobs/default.htm

I've been doing this just over a year, it is a genuine part-time self employed job with reasonable money.

Some of the evening five-a-side leagues carry on through the summer and refereeing those can be quite lucrative, even if three hours without a break can be exhausting mentally and physically.

Just did my last 4 games of the season today....I am shattered, but was great and a lovely day!! No bookings either!!

I was wondering if anyone knows if you get paid for Cricket umpiring at a low level?

Any other ideas for jobs?

Cheers

I think you'd be very lucky to get paid for umpiring at a low level in Cricket. In my experience most clubs at a lowish level don't pay umpires.

I know some clubs in the County Divisions do pay, but I think they get their umpires from the South Coast Panel (and you have to be at least Level 1 qualified).

The Hampshire Cricket league has a forum on its website and you could ask on there, but I wouldn't hold out much hope (and maximum you'd get would be £30 for a long days work!!!!)

There must be some Summer football tournaments you could do, I coach a kids team and we've been invited to quite a few tournaments, most take in both Saturday and Sunday. Not sure how much referees get but I don't think it is too shabby.

I was in the same position myself a few years back. For extra cash in hand I turned to Bank Robbery. Piece of a p iss and not too much equipment needed. All I shelled out for was a banana, a bag with 'swag' written on it and a stocking. Total price was around a fiver and I am pulling in about 20k a job. Its so well paid I have quit my full time job as a Nuclear Physicist and just do the odd bank job as and when. Due to recently hurting my gun (banana) holding arm I have gone part time however still earning some decent wedge. To be fair I am a minor celebrity now and even saw myself on 'Crime Watch' the other week.

If it's a condition that stops you working and it wasn't your fault, you may be entitled to compensation.

I am looking into doing this Betterware thing. You go out and deliver the mags and then go and pick them up. A little bit like Avon, but for homeware stuff!! Also the paperround one could be a good one and could go round with my daughter and do the two at the same time and break my back. Also could also offer a dog walking service at the same time! This time next year I will be a millionaire..... or bankrupt!

I do computer training for £25 an hour in the evenings. It's been quiet lately but it was ridiculous when I first started. I worked solid every evening for about 2 months £125 a week isn't bad at all! Most of the time it was old ladies going on about their gardens etc etc. That said I do fortunately work for quite a reputable company and was allowed to advise our customers it was something I did. I haven't advertised or anything though.

It depends entirely on what you're good at. I'd have thought computer training, general DIY, decorating, washing cars - those would pretty much be the best ones to do.

Not worth the time and effort, from people I know that have tried it.
