barney Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Just on talksport talking about saints. On about saints v mkdons game and the way the superb fans got behind the team. Top man didnt realise he was a saints fan.
ohwhenthesaints Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Was sat a couple of rows behind me in the Kingsland.
gaz Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Yup he's a regular at SMS, and tweets a lot about the club. https://twitter.com/tiff_tv
fanimal Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Drove me round Thruxton Circuit 3 times last summer, mad as a hatter but great fun!
alpine_saint Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Even I have seen him frequently on my infrequent visits to SMS, but I suppose you need to sit in Kingsland..
NickG Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Was about 5 to 3 if they do listen again. Sounded really excited about us
TheMidfieldGeneral Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/listen-again/episode/27153
saintedwill Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 there's another reason to stop watching Top Gear and watch Channel 5 instead!
Miltonaggro Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Believe he was born in Havant, so he chose to follow the path of righteousness. Good egg...
The Cat Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 who is he? I wondered the same. Looked at his twitter, saw a photo, didn't recognise him. Found out he has something to do with cars, got bored, closed the page.
Matthew Le God Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 (edited) http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/listen-again/episode/27153 Interview starts 19 minutes into the 14:30 - 15:00 clip. Conversation moves onto Saints (very briefly) at 28 minutes. Edited 6 April, 2011 by Matthew Le God
Matthew Le God Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Sits behind me in the Kingsland. Which block?
Northant Saint Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 For those who don't know, he presents fifth gear on channel five.
saint_kev Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 You don't know who he is?? One if the best drivers this country has produced, a great talent and rightly decided to let jezza clarkson make a complete hash of motoring on the BBC, setting up fifth gear on ch5 and employing the delightful VIkki Butler Henderson. Saints fan too? He truly cannot do any wrong.

Saints fan too? He truly cannot do any wrong. He's actually one of Jeremy Clarksons best mates
John Boy Saint Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 and employing the delightful VIkki Butler Henderson. Saints fan too? He truly cannot do any wrong. The bloke deserves a Knighthood!!!
scotty Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 I know him slightly, do some work for him once or twice a year. Very nice guy, no front at all. He lives over lockerley way, ive run into him at the millhouse in mottisfont.
ringwood Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 spoken to him quite often walking back from the ground, no airs or graces, down to earth fella, very underated driver who never really got the drives his skills deserved. if he employed VBH then got to be a top guy!
so22saint Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 His son is a mate of a mates son - they had a great conversation at school which is how they found out: "Which do you prefer, Top Gear or 5th gear". All the kids answered 5th gear except one and they asked him why "Because Tiff Needell is my dad" :-) Comes across as a superb bloke
Hatch Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 He posts on this site too No I don't , I mean ..no he doesn't.
Patrick Bateman Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 who is he? Seriously?? One of the best drivers this country has ever produced and never rated highly enough. His handling of a car is awesome to watch - love his review of the 350z when it came out (it's on youtube somewhere) ... which is the one reason I went out and bought one I'm ashamed to admit!! With Top Gear now failing slightly, I think they should use him more to do some trials/speed tests/decent (but fun) reviews and get rid of Hammond.
ohwhenthesaints Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 Which block? Block 33, about row Z I believe.
niceandfriendly Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 Nice to hear him talking positively about Saints, always liked him. I don't think people shouldn't be discussing where he sits though really, you know? I don't know.

I have no idea what a 350z is and I've only seen Top Gear once, an experience as enjoyable as standing in Fratton Park watching Saints lose 4-1. It's very nice that this bloke supports Saints though.
hamster Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 Nice? He is in our top five celebrity fans along with; David frost, Craig David, that bloke from coldplay and iwan thomas
The Cat Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 I quite like it that half our famous fans don't really support Saints, and the others aren't even that famous.
Raging Bull Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 I know him slightly, do some work for him once or twice a year. Very nice guy, no front at all. He lives over lockerley way, ive run into him at the millhouse in mottisfont. Surely you mean the Mill Arms in Dunbridge?
dubai_phil Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 Donkeys years ago, went to one of those test Drive cars at Thruxton days. We had a briefing from Tiff and then whizzed round the course thinking we were nicki Lauda (OK not THAT long ago) After lunch they stuck us 4 at a time into an MG Montego Turbo and Tiff drove us round the course properly. One handed, chatting, explaining everything as he went. He was something over one minute faster than the best time posted all day with a full car on a "racing lap" Us in the car? We just screamed in terror all the way round. Top Bloke, great talent and one of us - cool
hamster Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 Wonder where we should erect Tiff's statue? the car* park I suppose. Lol lol lol *cos he drives cars hth
scotty Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 Surely you mean the Mill Arms in Dunbridge? If thats the one on the sharp corner by the railway line then I do indeed and stand corrected. Only ever been in there a couple of times.
Raging Bull Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 If thats the one on the sharp corner by the railway line then I do indeed and stand corrected. Only ever been in there a couple of times. Thats the one. Must ad that it has a fantastic restraunt which is run by Heston Bluminthingys Soux (excuse spelling) chef. Well worth a visit.
scotty Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 Thats the one. Must ad that it has a fantastic restraunt which is run by Heston Bluminthingys Soux (excuse spelling) chef. Well worth a visit. I suppose that means snail porridge and bacon and egg icecream on the menu
niceandfriendly Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 Newcastle fan through and through! You are? Great, you can disappear here then fella http://www.nufc-forum.com/nufcforum/
Glasgow_Saint Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 You are? Great, you can disappear here then fella http://www.nufc-forum.com/nufcforum/
Petersfield Saint Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 That'll be his sponsors Correct - from when he drove the Newcastle-sponsored Lister Storm I believe. I used to serve him in the shop I worked in when I'd just left school in Petersfield; I thought he still lived just down the road in West Harting?
Jez Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 Is it wrong to post on a thread about yourself? And usually, when someone starts a thread about an individual (usually Alpine) they get shut down by the mods I saw Tiff too at the weekend at half time, my mate was gutted he didn't and spent most of the second half looking for him. Glory hunter.
Eastcowzer Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 Is it wrong to post on a thread about yourself? And usually, when someone starts a thread about an individual (usually Alpine) they get shut down by the mods I saw Tiff too at the weekend at half time, my mate was gutted he didn't and spent most of the second half looking for him. Glory hunter. We, in the Itchen, had Jim Davison in our stand on Tuesday, so there. ! Trouble is, he was with the Charlton directors, so no chance of a conversion to the true faith. Any how, we've had enough comedians of our own, both on the Forum, and on the pitch over the years.
scotty Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 Correct - from when he drove the Newcastle-sponsored Lister Storm I believe. I used to serve him in the shop I worked in when I'd just left school in Petersfield; I thought he still lived just down the road in West Harting? No, he's over this way now, oddly enough not a million miles from David Gower, who is another chap whose pleasant persona is not reserved for the tv cameras. Ive run into quite a few people in the public eye in my time, a large percentage of whom have turned out to be utter tw*ts, but Messrs Needell and Gower are both absolutely top blokes.
Saint Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 Block 33, about row Z I believe. I'm block 32 (I think, haven't got my ticket on me) and he's one over so that must be 33. I'm higher than Z so I'm not sure about that, he might have moved since last season.

Not interested in cars, they are for people with money

Doesnt Davidson live out past Romsey as well?
