Saint Charlie Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 This guy has been brilliant since Christmas especially. Would definately be in my top 3 players of the season. I reckon he must have won over 85% of his headers this season and is playing really well at the moment. He also provides the best photos on the OS galleries. Surely worth a one year extension for next year whatever league we are in - won't play every game but still a class player in this league.
beancounter saint Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 I agree he's been fantastic, especially in the last couple of games. You can see an improvement in confidence in him recently along with most of the team. Whereas he was misplacing a high % of his passes earlier in the season that is now much better.
SNSUN Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Really upped his game this season and seems fitter, he's now starting every game nearly and is in the best Saints form of his career. April will be tough for him though, I'm glad we have two good back ups in Martin (who I thought was impressive against Yeovil) and Seaborne. I'd keep him for a year for his Twitter posts alone!
beancounter saint Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 The other thing I've noticed about Jaidi is that he is surprisingly pacy once he gets going (though his size and age mean he doesn't always seem to have the best stamina). I'd hazard a guess that he is quicker in a sprint than Fonte.
Saintandy666 Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 I agree with you beancounter, when he gets in his stride he is surprisingly fast for a big guy. Jaidi has been very good for us this season. I know he sometimes isn't able to do every game when we have lots in quick succession(problem for this month?), but he never seems to miss a header... ever!
The Cat Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Thought this was one season too far after the first few games when he seemed off the pace, glad to have been proved wrong though because he's been brilliant since then (balls up at Wallsall aside)
Barry the Badger Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 I don't recall a centre back who wins such a high proportion of headers, his judgement when the ball's in the air is second to none. I love the ones he wins without even getting off the ground, but simply by judging it better than the opposing player.
Micky Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Gotta hand it to the guy, there are an awful lot of players who drop down a division or two in their twilight years and basically 'coast' - doing just enough. But, from what I've read, Radhi seems to be doing it week in and week out now. Perhaps he wants one more shot at glory and promotion would be a real bonus for him at his age - hope he achieves it. Top man. (Clean sh*t - my I larfed...!!!)
Avenue Saint Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Have been surprised by his performances lately! Absolute rock yesterday and I tell you what, wouldn't be surprised if Adkins is jabbing him with something cos the guy Is looking pretty dynamic these days!! ;-) How? Lol.... Light years ahead of Seaborne and possibly, just possibly, our best defender at moment! Top marks Radi! U beast!!!!
West End Saint Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Agreed he is quality I thought at the start of the season his legs had gone but boy was I wrong the man has been immense and has got better over the season. Forwards need to go into another post code & get directions to get round him he wins everything in the air love the way he gives strikers the brush off he is clever the way steps across players and the way he is so physical without giving away a foul. We have a quality pairing at centre back & Radhi deserves another year
S-Clarke Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 I think the fitness and condition of the players at the start of the season was disgusting and you have to look at the previous management for that, and ask wtf they were doing during that expensive pre-season? Since Adkins has been ''in the building'' and has got his fitness regimes laid down everyone is looking better for it. If we'd have started the season as we are now then we'd be up there with Brighton, if not leading the way.
scott_saints Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Anyone noticed how many fouls he commits but go unnoticed? It's not a bad thing, his experience KNOWS when to tug the players shirt etc so that he'll get away with it.
Chez Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 This guy has been brilliant since Christmas especially. Would definately be in my top 3 players of the season. We will need a unit in the Championship and he's as good as any.
Ewell Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Probably my favourite Saints player at the moment, the guy is immense.
paulwantsapint Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 rahdi is playing great if only he could control the ball in other box as well as he does in ours he would be wining the centre halves goal scoring bet loved his tackle last night when player ended up well off the pitch
Tom28 Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 And he's out of contract in the summer. Aaron Martin too.
beatlesaint Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 And he's out of contract in the summer. Aaron Martin too. The interview with Rahdi in the programme last Saturday stated that Adkins has told him he wants him to stay next year, he has said he wants to stay another year too so I cant see any reason why he wont still be on the bus next season.
red&white56 Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 I was very impressed last night with Jaidi, his overall play was excellent - good positioning, good tackling, won his headers - he even ran forward with the ball at one stage, when there were no options for him. Best was his bicycle kick - ace!
chivvy1664 Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 When he goes up know he is going to win it. When hes fronted up you know he is gonna get done for pace. Fonte really is diffrent gravy.
Gambol2K9 Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Im loving Radhi right now, been an absolute rock for us lately. Him and Fonte make a perfect partnership.
SFC Forever Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 He has improved throughout the season and like said before I believe that is down to a new fitness regime. Since Xmas I believe he has been probably best CB in our league bar none.
John Boy Saint Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 The bloke is a Giant Redwood in our defence, and every game recently we have been treated to the Radhi Jaidi show with all his tricks and skills. When you see the array of players in our team Raidhi is the one player who increasingly puts a smile on your face. Last night when he chased that poor Charlton player to the Northam corner, the poor chap must have felt that he was being hunted down by a Bear.
Saint_clark Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Been very good, but I think Lallana, Barnard and Fonte are ahead of him for POTS. In that order.
shurlock Posted 6 April, 2011 Posted 6 April, 2011 Helped spearhead Brum back to the prem a few years ago only to be released. If we do get promoted, hope he gets another year.
Seaford Saint Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 My player of the season......he's phenominal.
hamster Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 Me too. A real brick and a great Tweeter I know that Fonte is very good but he couldn't play his particular style without the exceptional cover that Radhi provides. I get so excited when I see them both heading onto the opposition box and again Radhi probably couldn't take thst risk without the security of knowing Jose will get back to cover his arse quickly. A great pairing
Paul75 Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 Does anyone think that Nige's physio background is helping in the fact we are getting all these games out of him?
Saint Charlie Posted 7 April, 2011 Author Posted 7 April, 2011 Been very good, but I think Lallana, Barnard and Fonte are ahead of him for POTS. In that order. IMO over the whole season I don't think you could put Barnard ahead of Jaidi. He missed too many games because of his "moment of madness" whilst a mid 30's player has played pretty much every game.
suewhistle Posted 7 April, 2011 Posted 7 April, 2011 Agreed he is quality I thought at the start of the season his legs had gone but boy was I wrong the man has been immense and has got better over the season. I agree, I saw him in the pre-season friendly at Thun and he was back on the pitch after the game doing sprint training. Seeing him then I thought he was finished, but have been very pleasantly surprised.

He missed too many games because of his "moment of madness" whilst a mid 30's player has played pretty much every game. Not really. Jaidi has started 1 more game than Barnard, but Barnard has also made 13 sub appearances.

A great pairing noticed Guly quickly getting back to cover in the last game. Makes sense with his height and pace.
Bourno Posted 8 April, 2011 Posted 8 April, 2011 Earlier in the season everything got hoofed, now he is looking more composed and passing it out (though sometimes scares me a bit). Would love us to sing the old Des Walker song 'You'll never beat Jaidi, You'll never beat Jaidi'
doddisalegend Posted 8 April, 2011 Posted 8 April, 2011 The interview with Rahdi in the programme last Saturday stated that Adkins has told him he wants him to stay next year, he has said he wants to stay another year too so I cant see any reason why he wont still be on the bus next season. I wouldn't be at all suprised if he took up a coaching role with us after next season. Not only is a beast of a defender he seems to be a good influence on the teams morale as well. In the air he is fantastic with the ball at his feet ..............not so much he always provides some entertaiment every game he plays though.
Chez Posted 8 April, 2011 Posted 8 April, 2011 (edited) The interview with Rahdi in the programme last Saturday stated that Adkins has told him he wants him to stay next year, he has said he wants to stay another year too so I cant see any reason why he wont still be on the bus next season. you've made my day. By the way he is a much better footballer than people give him credit for. OK, yes usually once per match he will play a dreadful ball, one that gets a full chorus of groans, but his touch is good and more often than not he play it simple and doesn't play people into trouble. Shame the legs are gone, but even in the championship you need a ball winner and I haven't seen a better one in the air. Edited 8 April, 2011 by Chez
trousers Posted 9 April, 2011 Posted 9 April, 2011 RadhijaidiOff: Well don Saints fan ... Felt like I'm home.

Same as the people who think Lambert should be dropped and is "unfit" or "just a target man".... people are now starting to realise that actually, he brings much, much more than just goals...
The Cat Posted 9 April, 2011 Posted 9 April, 2011 He was brilliant today. Got his one crap pass of the game out the way in the first half and was immense from then on.
Tamesaint Posted 9 April, 2011 Posted 9 April, 2011 1He was brilliant today. Got his one crap pass of the game out the way in the first half and was immense from then on. +1.
Roger Posted 9 April, 2011 Posted 9 April, 2011 2? What do I win? The guy is absolute class and an absolute diamond. Wins everything and his headers go an amazing distance too.
niceandfriendly Posted 9 April, 2011 Posted 9 April, 2011 Earlier in the season everything got hoofed, now he is looking more composed and passing it out (though sometimes scares me a bit). Chin Strain Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 2? What do I win? Nowt. You needed a question mark so clearly were just guessing.
paulwantsapint Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 Rahdi the rock jaidi great overhead kick only slight mistake was being so good & winning everything ment that he made KD make a great save when rtrj deflected ball goalwards
Deppo Posted 10 April, 2011 Posted 10 April, 2011 Nowt. You needed a question mark so clearly were just guessing. It was a good guess though. You have to admit that.
davefizzy14 Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 I knew Radhi would be class from the day we signed him. Has been Immense all seasona and scored a few too.
hamster Posted 12 April, 2011 Posted 12 April, 2011 Jaidhi is the main reason that we started attacking from defence. The odd misplaced pass is expected in the crowded boxes at this level. Rocky Jaidhi
