Another new striped kit from Umbro now revealed at Huddersfield:

Looks to be a very similar cut to our Sash shirt. Particularly the collar.

In that case then.....

Sorry just a quick one as i can't be arsed or have time to do it properly!

If we're heading away from the sash I doubt we're special enough to expect our own design so if another club has released their kit from the same manufacturer, then it is fair to assume that this will be our kit next season .....IMO

I still think the kit design should be chosen by the fans. The club should produce 4 or 5 designs and the fans vote on which one they want - It's been done in the past.

At the end of the day it's the fans who put their hands in their pockets and wear the shirts.

I love the sash, i hope we keep it tbh

Tell you what, if the new shirt turns out to be rubbish, how about we set up a new team? We could call it Southampton Phoenix or suchlike, storm through the leagues and eventually beat this lot of franchised non-traditionalists.

It feels pretty good having new signings and the kit as my main Southampton-related concerns. How time flies!

The collar is different as the button on the collar is a bog standard round one not the oddly-shaped Umbro Tailored ones, which is a small nod to the fact that the Huddersfield kit is based on an Umbro Teamwear template (the "Santos") and their kit is basically a different colour variation of a parks team kit (with a collar), because their "Umbro deal" is actually with a local sports kit provider. It's just the reversed version of this, in fact. 697680_061_main.png.

You'll also notice that Saints' sash kit has sleeves which end at the shoulder - this Huddersfield shirt has a form of "raglan" sleeves, in that the sleeve piece goes right up to the shoulder, rather than having the "T" stitching over the shoulder blade and around the armpit like the sash shirt. They also won't have the kind of detailing like the Saints shirt has with the little triangle pieces at the bottom seam on the sides, etc.

As such, it's NOTHING like the Saints sash shirt, the pieces of material are completely different shapes.

Pretty sure that generic Huddersfield shirt won't be anything like the Saints kit (other than stripey), we've got a proper Umbro kit deal - not to mention that on this thread we've got the OP mentioning the New York Cosmos style shirts.

Whenever that's happened the original designs have ALL been gash and we've ended up with the "least crap".

This.

Umbro know what they are doing. Saints Apparell did not.

Why would we want to play in Green? Except KD of course

The away kit should be green and white. I've thought that for years. It worked for QPR and Norwich this season. ;-)

The last colour that should appear on any Saints shirt is Blue!!!

Would have to disagree with that, the 01-03 home kit that we voted on was class. Proper red and white stripes with no ugly panels and the like.

I don't actually remember that being a vote, but I agree it was a good kit.

Now this is a perfect opportunity for AV. With 5 kits to choose from we could end up with a shirt that only 20.1% of fans want to wear!!

Just so you can all have a laugh at the Newcastle shirt mentioned above...

There's also a limited edition with a gold badge, though given how ugly the regular kit is it's probably going to be pretty limited itself...

Yeah the Skates tried to hijack the votes at the time as one of the designs was a god awful rip off of the old AS Monaco kit that Hoddle wore when he was there. Think thats what it was meant to be anyhoo. One of the other designs was the red quarters shirt similar to the one that they would later wear in the friendly with Brighton to send off The Dell.

Ha, I remember it well. I wouldn't mind red and white quarters. There's certainly less teams wearing quarters than stripes. I was'nt a fan of the sash at first, but it's given us a new identity. It's pretty unique and I think that's a good thing.

I'd quite like to see us wearing something like the feyenoord shirt. And guess what... They wear green and white as an away kit! It's the future. ;-)

Does the way the grass was cut at SMS on Saturday give us a clue as to what to expect? I hope so!

I wondered that too. The way the stripes were cut into the pitch, I'm guessing you mean?

Looked a bit like the shirt Bally wore in his first stint, the one before Keegan signed, IMO.

Could do a decent bugs bunny impression with that...
