Liquidshokk Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 O RLY ? The England kit one ? Black ? God I hope we don't end up with some wussy design element like those bloody multi-coloured crosses on the England shirt shoulders.[/quote The black you have used on the collar will be a bit thicker I think and not come so far down the shirt and pointy at the end - think of a very short tie! collar folded over like the current saints shirt or short and sticking up like the england shirt?
Katalinic Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 collar folded over like the current saints shirt or short and sticking up like the england shirt? Sorry, I have confused with my description but am trying to relay back what I am being told. The actual collar is like the one in your mock up i.e. not one to speak of, but it extends down the front of the shirt, like the one you have produced only thicker and does not come as far down. If you look at some other current Umbro shirts you may find another example.

The mock up could be interpreted differently depending how you look at it....

Funnily enough I did consider doing one with the collar pieces in two different colours - but I think what you've just described is the collar on the New York Cosmos home shirt as opposed to the England kit ? doggface Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 great spot the 9!, If he is right I would put my money on that template - certainly the collar as it's descriped to a tee.
doggface Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Have you got that template on your mock ups the9? Have a go!
The9 Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Have you got that template on your mock ups the9? Have a go! Just doing it.
The9 Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 (edited) A few things : 1) It's got an horrific panel, as described - this COULD also reach right across the stripes. 2) Collar is predominantly black, as described (and based on the Cosmos template) 3) Collar has a contrast colour around the outside which I suppose could be white or red - I've used red here. 4) Still using the same bog standard stripe template from 2010/11 which is looking less likely by the second, because that collar is definitely a 2011/12 design. Red central stripe for now... 5) If anyone's interested, New York Cosmos aren't even in MLS yet, and when they are, the league has an adidas deal anyway so God knows what Umbro are up to ! 6) I'm going to Asda in a minute so can't give you the options above yet. 7) Have used black cuffs like the Cosmos kit, strangely they don't seem to have the contrast colour like the collar. doggface Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Good work! see if you can reduce the size of the actual logo in proportion-Also if they go with a panel I bet the writing will be in RED as that is the aap3 colours (despite that fact it will look ****e).
jamesfp1 Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Here's my attempt at an away kit aap3 logo should probably be bigger..
DrZuess1979 the 2nd Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Here's my attempt at an away kit aap3 logo should probably be bigger.. ohhhh I like But maybe the sash the other way?
Matthew Le God Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 I quite like that as an away shirt. You can revert to the non 125th anniversary badge as well.
Saint Garrett Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Maybe Blue with a Yellow stripe or Yellow with a blue stripe ?!
Liquidshokk Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Here you go Will we not revert back to normal logo without 125 in it next season? EDIT: just seen MLG got there before me
DrZuess1979 the 2nd Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Here you go Like it alot, send it to NC Good work!!!
LGTL Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 The block of tacky white that holds the sponsor is just awful, why can't they just incorporate it into the actual shirt?
Liquidshokk Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 The block of tacky white that holds the sponsor is just awful, why can't they just incorporate it into the actual shirt? Prob to highlight the logo as much as poss. Don't think sponsors would be too happy with it blending into the stripes...
doggface Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 The block of tacky white that holds the sponsor is just awful, why can't they just incorporate it into the actual shirt? The logo has to be signed off by the sponsor, in this case aap3- they have the final say as they are the ones paying. The club claimed flybe were to blame for the last panel on the home shirt. Dont see why we can't have a white surround like Sunderland instead of a shiity panel! Maybe we will but I won't hold me breath
The9 Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 The block of tacky white that holds the sponsor is just awful, why can't they just incorporate it into the actual shirt? Tell me about it - they've got quite a narrow logo so a big area of white around each character would work really well to make it stand out better (like with the Friends Provident logos after we moved to St Mary's), but on a big white rectangle it will just look cack.
jamesfp1 Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Maybe Blue with a Yellow stripe or Yellow with a blue stripe ?! how about this
The9 Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 (edited) Nice stuff jamesfp1 ! I've tweaked the sponsor - and managed to find at least one way it doesn't look utterly terrible to have a box on it : (3) is my favourite... (1)(2) (3)(4) Not sure I'm so keen on that 2005 Chelsea (black and silver) away kit template up there though ! Edited 11 April, 2011 by The9

It's not such an issue for plain shirts. James has also illustrated the problem with a normal sponsor on a sash kit too, which is that you can't really overlay anything - you either have to break the sash or somehow print across seams...
DrZuess1979 the 2nd Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 I`d be more than happy with the9`s home (3) and james`s away shirt`s

If they have any say then I can't see them signing off a tightly cropped box around their logo. I also wouldn't be that surprised if they came up with a different version of the logo that is more landscape (as they did on the Saints Foundation website but more readable). As you say, that logo could well be a dealbreaker in Jamesfp1s otherwise great away strip concept. Edit: btw, stripes version 3 is my favourite of that batch as well. The9 Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 FWIW as the aap3 corporate colours are a darker red than the usual colour of Saints shirts, I've left the sponsor in black as it's a stronger contrast - the "two shades" of red doesn't look very good.
jam Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Jam likes. I'd really like us to have a yellow with bits of dark blue away strip. Sweden had a great one a few years back.

Do you know how fixed the saints red is (if there even is such a thing)? I seem to recall that Arse have a specific red that they use now. I don't think it would be sacrilege to tweak the red (on the shirt) for a few years...
doubleonothing Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 The 9: Can you try a red "block" for the sponsor instead of white. Just to compare. Cheers
doggface Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 3 looks great the9- be well happy with that - we will see. Don't forget that if the umbro logo is sat on a red stripe, they will fill the diamond with White to make it stand out like the new Sunderland & our last striped kit. Your right about shirt designed before sponsor finalised. Though our first year with umbro we already had flybe and as I say the club said that was the only way flybe would accept it. The last "saints apparel" shirt we (as above) had the White panel built into the shirt so the flybe could just be printed on and looked ok. The only reason this could be done though is because the red stripes were printed rather than the better red stripes which are woven by umbro and cannot be broken. I have a bad feeling we will get a lovely kit ruined by a monster of a sponsor
Badger Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Here you go looks good. how about this If it is going to be a predominantly yellow shirt then thats probably as good as we can hope for.
Pilchards Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 I love the work you guys are doing but I'm afraid none of them have made me go 'wow' I want another surprise from SFC like we had with the sash last season.
doggface Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Also if it IS that collar, it and the whole shirt will be made out of the cotton poly mix which is much more comfortable and better quality than the usual 100% nylon we are used to these days.
djharvey Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Love this! Here's my attempt at an away kit aap3 logo should probably be bigger..

Why couldn't the sponsor logo be within the sash at an angle!
Saint Garrett Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Obviously none of us have any idea, and won't have any inside information about what it's going to be like, but it's fun all the same looking at these different kits, some of them are stunning !
Fan The Flames Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 (edited) This is my favourite, but with a slightly broader stripe and white collar. Good work btw. Just noticed the reason I like what I have written above is because it would be closer to the great 76 home kit, which I love. Edited 11 April, 2011 by Fan The Flames
capitalsaint Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Why couldn't the sponsor logo be within the sash at an angle! I second this.
The9 Posted 11 April, 2011 Posted 11 April, 2011 Why couldn't the sponsor logo be within the sash at an angle! I'd say because the sash isn't wide enough for the logo to be big enough - IF the arc underneath it is included. The initial post says the kit is a "Brazil style" yellow with blue, given that the current V-neck Wales and Swansea shirts (amongst others) have a single stripe down the sleeve I wouldn't be surprised to see a plain yellow with single blue stripe down the sleeve. I'm not doing the red panel because... well, basically why would it be a red panel, which makes for all kinds of colour matching problems compared to a white panel, especially when the sponsor's colours are red on white.

Fair enough. Just thought a red panel with the sponser in white might work. Thought it might fit within 2 red stripes.
