Uses the current England collar but I've taken the liberty of removing the crappy little multicoloured crosses from the inner lining... which is why there's a tiny little gap at the top of the collar...

Wow, fair play for coming up with exactly what I was suggesting!! Good work. Shame its not as appealing as england shirt when actually in front of me :)

Can you now do one with a hideous white panel for the sponsor to go on.

Also, can we have black pin-stripes at the red/white borders?

I could do the panel, but I think a white surround to the letters probably looks better - and there aren't currently any Umbro kits out there with the black pinstripe, so I'm not going to do that one.

This is our 91-93 admiral strip

Not really. The Admiral kit had black piping surrounding each stripe whilst this has no black on the shirt itself, the Admiral kit had black cuffs, and both collar and cuffs had a white/red pattern. As well as that, the whole shirt had a horrible repeating diamond patterned weave all over it. Thankfully polyester jacquard weaves are no longer "fashion" in football.

Hate to say it but I'm liking these.

(Hate to say it because they make me think of Sheffield United)

The9, what do you use to make these mockups? Do you have templates?

Photoshop and the short and long sleeve templates downloaded from this forum : http://forum.fm-view.com/topic/12214-ss09-11-template-thread/

You just mess about with the layers and colour overlay, and if you're feeling adventurous you can drag and drop different elements to different shirts (as I have with the England collar here).

Saints and aap3 logos are just Google, copy, paste and then delete any surrounding colours on the layer.

It's pretty easy if the templates exist, not so much if you have to create the patterns yourself.

I've heard a rumour that one of the templates provided by Umbro is a return to stripes but the stripes are broken by a red sash across the front. Personally I think this would look a right dogs dinner. Perhaps someone can produce an image of how this may look?

I think that'd look an absolute mess...

The rumour is wrong.

Some good creative work by the The9, so well done to you, sir. However I can't help thinking the kits look too mouch like previous Stoke or Sunderland creations with the black or white collar. The long England collar just looks bloody ridiculous.

A long collar would look awful, personally hate the new england kit.
Agreed.

Still think Gecko's reworking of the classic Keegan era kit is the proverbial 'dogs b0ll0cks' and unlikely to be bettered.Especially the away yellow/black strip.

This must be the away strip then as its in yellow, and also looks like a dog's dinner :

Thanks, I've downloaded these and will have fun with them.

I take it the kit manufacturers have a set of templates that they use for all their teams, depending on the individual deal?

I take it the kit manufacturers have a set of templates that they use for all their teams, depending on the individual deal?

The long and short of it nowadays is that kit manufacturers will have no more than about 6 basic styles of kit in use at any one time, probably 3 or 4 new ones a season with the 2 year old ones dropping out of use - there are one or two exceptions, and there's a distinction between "proper" kit deals and "teamwear" deals in which the (usually lower league) teams just wear kits which are readily for sale to any parks side.

So it's more a matter of Umbro saying "here are your options" from their range, and Saints offering suggestions. As we didn't have a striped kit this season the club could use any of the Umbro 2010/11 OR 2011/12 striped styles and it would be fresh to us. They're not likely to go with something that Sunderland have already used though, this season or next.

It's probably not dissimilar to the sort of thing we've been doing on here, with a couple of people suggesting tweaks until they come up with something everyone's satisfied enough with. Though I've put a collar style that's unlikely to be used onto the standard 2010/11 Umbro striped template, which probably isn't going to happen, and I'm not claiming anyone likes them !

From a personal perspective, I hate the long England collar style, and I don't like the white collar with the stripes (too Stoke). I also prefer the black collar on the white central stripe rather than the red, and the sponsor with the white surround to help it stand out - rather than a patch.

Will be interesting to see what we get. I might have a mess with the single central stripe based on the current Hearts kit as well.

This is the version of the Gecko kit I've quickly done based on the current Hearts Umbro kit, which is based on the "Winchester" Umbro teamwear style - could do with shifting the lines up a tiny bit and maybe moving the logos in slightly from the black "tapes" but like I said, thrown together quickly :

Thrown together or not...... that's sexy.

The whole stripes with the red horizontal stripe might not be bad. Remember the flybe shirt with the black on the top of the sleeves.

Often thought it would have looked better with a red stripe across the middle - effectivly giving a red cross on the front of the shirt. Very St George's cross esq. In other words reverse the red and white on this one.

I tidied it up and moved the logos, damn your rapid quoting!

I don't actually like it much, at least the Patrick kit gave a nod to stripes with the white side bits.

Oh, and the red St George's Cross over stripes thing was done by Brentford a few years back when they were sponsored by St George, funnily enough. Wouldn't we be more likely to have a white cross on a red background now?

I hated this kit, thought it looked horrible.

Plain sleeves are a bad idea. Just look at the number of clubs who've been relegated when they've had a kit with plain sleeves. It happened to us the last time we did it so we shouldn't go there again!

I'm sure this is unverifiable gash, for a start we had that kit the season before relegation as well and we were fine, and we have plain sleeves this season and seem to be doing alright...

As well as 93-95... as pointed out by my ignorant un-football appreciating other half circa 2005.

Stripes are returning and away shirt is yellow with blue trim in a Brazil style. Home shirt available May, Away shirt July. Sponsors logo makes shirt looks naff allgedly, better without but what shirt doesn't? Current home shirt best selling Saints shirt of all time, again unsurprising. At last I am finally ITK on something :)

Do you know what they have done with the sponsors logo?

Is it like the 9 has done with a White surround or have they stuck another **** White panel on the front like our last flybe home??

The **** white panel option so I am told. The 9 has got the collar pretty much spot on in post #158.

O RLY ? The England kit one ? Black ?

God I hope we don't end up with some wussy design element like those bloody multi-coloured crosses on the England shirt shoulders.

Guys - i just hope we are not having a copy of the sunderland kit as they are also sponsored by Umbro, it's hideous and just been revealed.

BTW - does anyone know how long our deal with Umbro lasts?? we have been in Umbro kits for 3 years now, was it a 4 year deal?

With Cortese as chairman i wouldn't be surprised if we got a continetal kit sponsor when our deal with Umbro expires

The black you have used on the collar will be a bit thicker I think and not come so far down the shirt and pointy at the end - think of a very short tie!
