What a bore if it's just stripes with that ****ty logo through it.

That's precisely what I'm expecting, more or less.

The Ugly is going with the "UEFA cup" style shirt but as I'm expecting it's utter guesswork based on the thin-ish stripes on the advert I'm not thinking there's any ITK involved.

And as for "kit is late", I call massive load of balls.

Sibley's tweet was indeed the week before the aap3 deal was done.

I have heard the odd rumour that Cortese's been very hands on, and that the original schedule was May and July, which could feasibly feed into the delay and/or kit design changing scenario.

If I have a spare hour or two tomorrow I MIGHT gather all the ITK comments into one place to see who's legit and who's full of it, but time might be a bit tight so I may not get the chance.

I do wonder if we'll get two kits launched, we could wear the away v Bilbao's red and white, the home v Bremen's green and they could wear their away kits (green for Bilbao and orange for Werder) against each other.

Or we might just wear the home kit against both with Bilbao playing in green v us and their stripes v Bremen.

Not that it matters...

There could be loads of reasons why a delivery could be late, knowing how tight the club are they probably got them made in the cheapest factory in China and are currently mid-Atlantic aboard the world's cheapest container ship.

Gecko gave a bit of a run down on the kit process to me on Facebook as well as a few questions on here, and he said Umbro could turn around a kit from China in 3-5 weeks, which would mean an incredibly late start if there was any delay.

Shortages with Umbro are not unheard of, we ran out of home shirts for 2 months last season from mid September to mid November, but that was an unexpectedly high selling shirt. We also ran out of kit in 2009 but that was due to admin, and West Ham ran out of away shirts when XL were their sponsors before going bankrupt.

But not to have any at the launch? That only happens for the minikits and stuff like that...

I don't recall saying it was Umbro :)

Not sure what figures have been ordered but I'm aware you can get large runs of sublimated & embroidered shirts from China with a turnaround time of 3 weeks.

Guess it depends on what deal Saints have with Umbro & high up the production pecking order we are?

Got a feeling they will both be really nice designs. Would quite like a similar design to Swansea's away top last season, which was a two-tone black. I realise ours was like that in a way but theirs was nicer shading and looked smarter.

Not sold enough tickets and want there to be more fans there so have decided to release that this weekend too. Was already an article yesterday pleading with fans to come down in rememberance to Liebherr.

At £16 a ticket Clotese only has himself to blame.

Why have you leaped to that conclusion? Some people complain when the club doesn't advertise things. Now you are complaining when they do.

Pretty much every club advertises friendlies right up until the game, as often they are a last minute purchase for the fanbase. Perhaps something the club want to avoid on Saturday.

It does not mean it is or isn't selling well. We just don't know.

£16 for 4 hours of entertainment with three 45 minute games involving two large European clubs, and you think it is too much?

Yes I do think it's too much.

Such events should be affordable for all and should be seen as a good investment for fans of the future.

We are living in hard times and the cost for a poor family equates to a weekly shop (value range products).

Well this one is a strange comment. I can fully understand the club being criticised for not marketing tickets/season tickets enough, and therefore failing to maximise sales. But this seems to be a criticism that the club are actually over-marketing an event they're hosting!

A Championship game costs £30.

This event on Saturday is going on for 6 hours and involves two large European teams, who possibly will be getting an appearance fee to turn up to this tournament. That has to be paid for. Also outside the stadium are a number of other activities to attract young fans, and kids tickets are very cheap.

£16 for an adult is not expensive for 135 minutes of friendly football against very good opposition. Look at what a lot of other clubs are charging in preseason and you will see it is value for money in terms of football entertainment.

I'm not criticising it, I think it would be fantastic if the ground is full. Just going on recent marketing amounts, they seem to be hammering this and have decided 4 days before that they are going to release the new away kit as well. Just a thought, might be ********!! If I was trying to get a few more people down there, I would make that decision as well. then it doesnt look such an exensive ticket.

Thing is the tournament lasts nearly 4 hours,by the time you've got there a bit in advance you'll probably be in the stadium somewhere around 4 and 5 hours. So you're probably going to consume something or other, club will make extra money from on site sales so I'd think that they could have kept ticket prices down to 12/13£.Going to be an expensive day out

really, especially as we're likely to play a lesser side in one of the games and Bilbao are only back in training this week and will be probably be desperately shîte,remember us at Biel?

when is a ground ever full for a pre season game..

at the end of the day..the is just over half price of a normal game and it offers something different...£16 for 4+ hours of activities/kit launch and a bit of football thrown in with two large european sides...and bilbao lol

people would pay £16 to see us get thrashed by lazio I would imagine

I can't really fault the club for the pricing of the tickets, £16 for adults and in particular £6 for kids is pretty fair IMO. Especially when you consider it's a whole day out, and you can leave and re-enter the stadium at will, so it's not as if there's no other choices for food etc.

Take sandwiches you lazy git, you don't have to buy anything apart from the ticket. Very cheap day out. Excellent value for money

To satisfy the natives after such a long wait, all the secrecy and a big build up this had better be a seriously good shirt. I'm expecting it to be a 3 in 1 shirt, where the stitching can be re-arranged at the touch of a button so we can wear red & white stripes, the sash and the 'Keegan' shirt at different times throughout the season. It will also have neon letters & numbers plus, if you hold it up to the light, you will see Saint Markus' face on the front & MLT's on the back....

i think the club would have seen higher ticket sales if they had sold season tickets back in May / June, as it is people have just forked out for a season ticket might see this game as a bit much so soon. especially if they are also paying out for expensive replica kits for the nippers

The goalie shirt will also have 'go go gadget' arms.

The goalie shirt will definitely be this bog standard template - though most of the Umbro GK shirts this season have the black on the sleeves not the body of the shirt.

New-Sunderland-Goalkeeper-Kit-11-12.jpg

Only Man City and England have got unique keeper kits, it's been the same for at least 3 years.

Not sure about the go-go-gadget feature.

They were being delivered at the stadium when I went down to pick up my season tickets. Thought about quickly opening a package to see what they looked like, but didn't get the chance.

Posted

I've just noticed that GK shirt has the weird "inner collar" that's on the Man City home shirt as well. Strange, and possibly irritating as hell on the neck. That's all...

Posted
look lads i can not go into detail but i have heard that the delivery of some off the kit might not be on time

I think there is more to this, and I apologise for taking the p!ss yesterday......

Launch is Thursday not tomorrow. Internet launch only

Posted

I know someone in the store and i can confirm it hasn't been delivered yet and they don't even know what it looks like either. The shirts are still in a warehouse in Manchester ready to go. They have had the shorts delivered though and their black.

Wasnt the 'launch' always Thursday, but the design was unveiled tomorrow ?

Sales begin Thursday, "launch" is Wednesday, not that it means anything other than getting to see the design.

So, two new kits launched in the space of one week.

Do they think supporters are made of money FFS ?

Bet the parents of little ones are chuffed, they will want both no doubt.

What with the 2 new kits and Season Tickets all coming out in the space of 3 weeks no wonder the bloody Marketing Manager left !

There were 3 months between the last match of the season and the first League match of this. Are you seriously telling me that the three "main events" could not have been spaced out better than this ?

Nobody's making you buy the kits. How about you just don't buy the kits for a while? Or not at all?! When I was a kid I wouldn't get both home and away kits bought for me on release day, and rightly so!
