Saint Garrett Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 As annoying as it is, the club have done fantastically well for it not to have been leaked yet.
SO16_Saint Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 As annoying as it is, the club have done fantastically well for it not to have been leaked yet. NDA's left, right and indeed centre. heads - and jobs - would roll if it got out so I've heard
The9 Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 NDA's left, right and indeed centre. heads - and jobs - would roll if it got out so I've heard Umbro are by far the best of the major manufacturers at keeping their kits secret prior to release, you very rarely see a leak of an Umbro shirt more than a day in advance on any of the kit websites, if at all - though that may be because Man City are their highest profile client - and their home kit WAS all over the place a good month before release. But mostly, compare that to Nike and Adidas, whose kits of well-known and more obscure teams are popping up all over the place from about February onwards. The new Man Utd away blue/black hooped kit was out there about 4 months ago - I even saw a kid wearing one last week and it didn't come out until a couple of days ago. If Nike take nothing else from Umbro it should be how to control their kit secrecy, seeing as every leak reduces the impact of the new product and therefore the sales.

Umbro (in particular for their "Tailored by" range) issue a pre-release teaser of the kit, and design inspiration. I don't think this has the effect of diluting the impact of the release, in fact it probably has the opposite effect.
Badger Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 Unveiled on wednesday I believe. Then we can finally put the topic to rest. I thought it was on 21st, Thursday, but that may be available for sale rather than unveiled. Secondly, don't worry about putting the topic to rest, as we can then start our way towards thirty pages on the away kit.
Smirking_Saint Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 What are you lot going to do after Wednesday? There is a new Saints FC official Christmas stocking to be revealed.
Badger Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 In addition to the away kit: We can also start threads either eulogising the new kit, or bemoaning the fact that after two months of farting around it is a major disappointment. I am already preparing a "it's not as good as this effort by Gecko.." , or "its okay but I'd prefer this by Gecko.." , closely followed by "it's better than we would have had under Lowe/Wilde, SISU might have had..." , and "I'm looking forward to spilling some of our best catering in the country down the front, whilst p1ssed in the concourse on Saturday..".
Ken Tone Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 The prices I have are as follows: Adults S/Sleeve, £42 Adults L/Sleeve, £47 So a price rise of £2. Not that much actually. As a previous poster said as well the shirts have been £40 for a very long time now so that's not actually too bad. As for the £3.50.... That's the postage cost. Hardly a tax. My nephew has just bought his son a new Chelsea shirt for £60! -- £60 for a child! (Mind you since they live in Somerset and the boy is on Bristol City's books, it serves him right for buying a plastic shirt) Puts our prices in perspective.

Hatch Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 Yesterdays front page of the NotW was going to be a picture of the new kit. The club shop staff have had their phones monitored for weeks.

gary r Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 'Gary R' has previously posted that his daughter works at SMS look lads i can not go into detail but i have heard that the delivery of some off the kit might not be on time
The Kraken Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 look lads i can not go into detail but i have heard that the delivery of some off the kit might not be on time Ha ha ha, classic. Imagine those poor fools who've pre-bought a kit they haven't actually seen, only to have it not turn up in the post! A marketing dream by Saints!
SaintRobbie Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 Stripes for me everytime! It's Saints really. The sash was a super shirt and I love mine, but Saints for a generation of three have always been in stripes and we should return to it IMHO.
Matthew Le God Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 Saints for a generation of three have always been in stripes. What about the entire 1980's?
stanthemanfairoak Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 look lads i can not go into detail but i have heard that the delivery of some off the kit might not be on timeis this gary glitter?
InvictaSaint Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 look lads i can not go into detail but i have heard that the delivery of some off the kit might not be on time Sooo.....the club has been working on this for months; they set the reveal date and release date weeks ago (with Umbro's full consent, presumably); and Umbro, possibly the biggest UK sportswear manufacturers, are going to default on the delivery date?? But then only some of it?! Which bits?! Honestly, do me a favour......

Turkish Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 look lads i can not go into detail but i have heard that the delivery of some off the kit might not be on time i would f*cking p*ss myself if this is true.
Colinjb Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 So, the kit is going to be late.... which is why the shirt printing section of the shop has been shielded off. I smell something.......
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 I have been told that new players will be unveiled as part of the kit launch, I have no idea how true this is or isn't but the guy is genuine enough.
dune Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 i would f*cking p*ss myself if this is true. Especially if it's the tubbies that have to wait.

Turkish Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 Especially if it's the tubbies that have to wait. Hopefully there will be another Echo article with the sad faces of loyal fans who had queued through the night only to be disapointed.
Hatch Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 We will have to borrow Werder Bremens kit on Saturday
Saint-Armstrong Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 Jordan Sibley tweeted on the 17th of March: "Have just had a sneak peak at next season's home shirt. Can't say anything about it, but reasons why will become obvious soon... #saintsfc" http://twitter.com/#!/jordansibley/status/48431921662926848 Now I had heard wrong logo on it, but maybe he means he is lost for words that is shocking/lovely or because it is totally unexplainable. It won't be a kit issue if they had it being shown to staff members back in March. Media team wouldn't be seeing a protoype or a concept I'm sure

Saint-Armstrong Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 Also, any idea when people who have pre-ordered will actually get it? Same time as us mere mortals (Thursday/Friday) or on Launch date? (Barring any massive conspiracy whereby Somali pirates have stolen our kit off of a ship headed for the docks of England)

InvictaSaint Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 Because it's beyond the realms of reality that a delivery could be late. Well, if that is the case then I would fully expect a severing of ties with Umbro, because any company which has had this long to get a shirt ready - a shirt seen by the club's PR guy, Jordan Sibley, in March - and which is then unable to get a consignment manufactured and delivered on time with this much advance notice, and which only discovers a problem NOW....does not deserve our custom.

There could be loads of reasons why a delivery could be late, knowing how tight the club are they probably got them made in the cheapest factory in China and are currently mid-Atlantic aboard the world's cheapest container ship.
