For kids of that age it's fine, i rememer being the first one in my school to have the 85 kit, felt like a hero. But men in their 20's upwards, FFS, get a grip.

You should see their posts on the Harry Potter forum.

what the kit looks is vaguely interesting i guess. 29 pages of what others clubs kits look like and what ours might look like based on nothing but this and guess work is not. And also my point was, i really dont understand what the club has to gain by all the secrecy and by delaying the release so long. Other than amusing themselves by teasing the fans, as if this forum is anything to go by, a lot of our fan base are like 14 year olds with their first copy on Mayfair.

It's this Turkish, it's things like this that they gain. 29 pages of interest, discussion in the playground, pubs homes etc. Saints front of mind, even if you are pro or anti, you are discussing it. Front of mind, is where any business wants to keep it's customers especially when this is typically a time when the basic product (football) has nothing to offer.

The club is gaining IMHO by making all the bedwetters wait, as when the kit is launched they will probably lay on some extra crap on to entice the minions to part with even more money when they cue up to grab the latest installment of the money making machine that is football kits.

FFS I buy probably about 1 or 2 kits every few years to train in, and never saints kits, I did buy the sash as I found it a new and inspiring kit. But usually I would never ever spend £40 odd quid on a generic shirt, that gets me half way to a decent pair of jeans, converse or a new polo.

I appreciate those that do like to buy the kit and show colours, fair play to you. But if anything surely this adds to the excitement over a usually dull no football period. If they just said, here you go here is the latest offering I expect they wouldn't make as much money through the hype and the club would lose the mercurial theme it seems to have at the moment.

It's not something I'd do without seeing it first.

Also, you will know what it looks like when you open it, because the club are launching it the day before...

I'm not going to check the website. Quite looking forward to seeing it for the first time 'in the flesh' rather than pictures on the web.

I don't understand people commenting in threads that they claim not to be interested in. I'm a Saints fan and have an Art & Design background. I love the design element of the mock ups and find it passes the time between seasons. I don't consider it any sadder than reading/posting in any other thread on this forum. I find the design efforts and speculation interesting. I hardly think this is dramatic. As for the delay and secrecy by the club. I'm not bothered either way to be honest.

It's an Umbro kit, which again shows the styles they might use for the Saints shirt - ignoring that it's halved, because that's not likely to be a factor in a Saints kit. It does show the shorts though, and last season the Blackburn home and away shorts were the same as Saints - in fact the away shorts and socks for both clubs were identical other than the Blackburn logo.

For those actually interested (and after 30 pages you'd think you would have to be to be looking), the Venkys sponsor is only for their Asian tour though, they don't have one for the Prem yet.

Stop talking such sense, you're making delldays and Turkish look like hysterical drama queens. ;)

In that case, good luck to you, I hope you like what your £42-£59 buys you - and don't come on here on Wednesday either!

So making the odd comment here and there as to how pointless this thread is, is sadder than "oh look the socks of a crap premier league team might be the same as ours" and wasting hours playing around on computers making pretend kits is it? Okay then.

Posted
THAT...is a disgusting kit and one I would not wear if they were giving them away!

Makes me laugh, they will ask a player what he thinks and the answer has to be something nice.....

If I was wearing it....

'Pilchards how do you like the new kit'?

'It's ****, I look like a clown with a american hot dog label on the front'.

The only possible marketing reason I can think of for the "pre-order now, see it later" ruse is to gauge the level of commitment to buy NO MATTER what the kit looks like.

We all know that people will buy the new kit ANYWAY - what is unknown, until this exercise, is HOW MANY would make that purchase.

So, Saints have taken the chance to find out some market information ahead of where they want to be in years to come (Prem League) in order to understand their customer base in more detail,

Of course, these thing have many other factors that could affect them each year - but the data will be stored and used for merchandising activities in the future.

As for the "should we be discussing new kit designs during the close season, it's sad" argument - don't read the thread, if you find it all such a waste of time! It's the free choice that everyone has in life..... change channel if there's something on the TV that you don't like - or turn it off if there's nothing on! Just stop feeling like you have to judge everyone against your own interests - and spend your time enjoying the thing you do like reading/doing?!

I agree, and I think there are a few things we have done over the last couple of years that have been experimental.

It's nice to be in the financial position where we have the luxury to try things that depart slightly from the traditional football model. It always makes me chuckle when people point at an aspect of our commercial activities and say "99% of other clubs do it differently". Yes, and 99% of those clubs have terrible finances.

Turkish, you've made your point.

People obviously want to discuss what the new kit might look like, so please, just let them.

Quite right.

If a topic annoys you or doesn't interest you - don't comment or read it!

I see new training kit in the St Gallen training photos on the OS... similar style to the Rangers home kit with the flashes around the armpit/shoulders

It doesn't mean anything as far as the kit goes (other than that we won't be having a plain red shirt with black trim) but nice to see it anyway...

FWIW, someone just told me the badge has changed? Doesn't look like it, from the pictures above?

Oh well, only a week to wait to find out

There is a 40 foot tall banner next to the ticket office with the normal badge on it which has just been erected. They are talking complete sh01te.

Will the black on full white background of the sponsor logo follow through to the stripes ....hmmmmm

Yes. There is no doubt about this, why would they print up a load just for a single coloured training kit (when a plain white logo would do) and a short term advert-using away kit (ditto)? It's clearly the same sticker as will be on the new kit as it can then sit on a dual-colour background.

The9, I'm guessing you're an all in kind of fella when it comes to a game of poker?

Yes, I heard something that suggested we won't be using the normally red company logo on the shirts, but black writing.

It has changed. They have replaced the "125" thing with a football.

This.

Didnt really give it much thought before but stands to reason that the club are running a marketing research exercise at the same time for future use.

Why would this be?

I really like the red logo and will not be happy if this is true.

Just opened the July news letter.

£47 for a shirt.

plus £3.50 shirt tax.

And to think some people have pre-ordered without seeing it. Bonkers.

Not sure. May have got the wrong end of the stick but got the impression it would be black.

May be wrong

Shirts were 40-45 when I was young. There's been very little football shirt price inflation really, so can't complain much. And as always, don't have to buy it.

It's the long sleeved version that is £47; the short sleeved shirt is £42.

The prices I have are as follows:

Adults S/Sleeve, £42

Adults L/Sleeve, £47

So a price rise of £2. Not that much actually. As a previous poster said as well the shirts have been £40 for a very long time now so that's not actually too bad.

As for the £3.50.... That's the postage cost. Hardly a tax.

I would have thought Dune was taking the p*ss...but, if what I saw was genuine, black 'aap' on a red and white stripe home, red 'aap' on yellow away.

Pretty sure we've already seen the home aap3 logo on the training kit(s) and old away kit in Switzerland. As for poker, I don't play because I don't have the patience - but yeah, I used to go all in after about 3 hands. ;)

Not many people have talked about the back, apparently some sort of feature on the back?

The Sunderland kit has those pointless diagona stripes at the top, but none of the other Umbro kits have anything remotely interesting on the back, so I'd be surprised.

Unveiled on wednesday I believe.

Then we can finally put the topic to rest.

no, then we can argue the toss about what type of cotton was used in the making of the socks and from where it was sourced.

Oh come on we all know it'll be the cheapest cotton and some sweatshop somewhere terribly deprived.

Southsea or similar.

Don't bet on it, unless they unveil both new kits at the same time... which is a possibility seeing as we're conveniently playing a side who also play in red and white stripes on Saturday, as well as one who'll be playing in green (or orange, both their new kits are hideous anyway).
