Hooray, I was the first one to post the aap3 logo with a white surround (albeit back on page 4 and then abandoned it for pretty much everything I've thrown together since then -

Remember the 2nd "a" on aap3 will be solid white, not cut though to red.

this isnt a dig just at you, but I really dont know what the issue is with this.

So long as the team have a kit for KO on 6 August (and they do, and like it) what's the issue?

Well, when we all vote as to whether we like it, what if we vote against it? It'll give the club no chance to change the design......

like it or not, they wont change it

Really, really like that. Smashing.

This is the best design I've seen on this thread (along with Antwerp Saints' designs on page 24). I want that home kit.

Indeed, probably going to have a central red stripe based on that ?

I got carried away, seeing the Huddersfield kit and The 76 kit.

The Hummel kit is just a bit random, I liked it though

Are you using Illustrator ?

Surely someone on here's seen it by now. Tut.

I have stevegrant primed to text details if they debut it in Switzerland... :D

It is 100% going to be red and white! Probably with a bit of black somewhere! You heard if first!

Exactly, that would make it stand out which is if course the whole point.

And of course because the central stripe is usually red in saints history (not always mind)

And Chevron is away.

Blue, yellow and green - would fit with that "Brazil" comment a few weeks ago.

Given these jersyes retail for around £17 - are they exactly the same as the jerseys used for replica kits? In other words, are fans paying about £25 for a sponsor's logo and club badge?!

 And footy fans wonder why they get "treated like mugs".

EDIT: the above assumes that the posts are actually correct!

EDIT: the above assumes that the posts are actually correct!

And that's the crux of it.

The gist of the matter is that most kits worn by pro teams aren't available in Teamwear styles - there are tweaks to them - eg last year the sash kit was an Umbro Teamwear kit but the sash went the other way, there was Saints-specific detailing on them as well (as well as the badge). Even Huddersfield's local sports retailer Umbro deal has got them a reversal in colours of one of the striped templates - as well as the Chevron away.

If it's just "the Clifton" then it's not like ANY of the designs people have suggested on here recently. I've heard a lot about the NY Cosmos collar (and a couple of kits have since come out with Cosmos-style collars) Saints haven't had bog-standard teamwear shirts from Umbro so far. Also, that Clifton shirt doesn't have any black on it...

And as far as "like Brazil", the chevron kits are nothing like any kit Brazil have worn (though they are a new style and a lot of teams are wearing them as away kits).

I'd also think that if it was "just a plain striped kit" - which ironically was one of the first I suggested from the 2010 Rangers / Bilbao striped kits, that someone would have said that by now. And a chevron is not a hard concept to explain in a couple of words - but no-one has...

That's the Huddersfield template they've been given for 2011/12. Also, can I say "source" ? Don't think I've ever done that on here before...

Or maybe even tonight??

That would be hilarious. Plan a big kit launch and then unveil the new kit(s) on the pre-season tour 7 days before. It would nicely capture some of the inconsistencies within the club at the moment.

Posted

One other thing I've just spotted - the Clifton is actually their 2010/11 v-neck striped shirt template (can't remember what it was called) with a collar on it...

...and they've dropped the "Santos" opposite direction sash from the page from the season before last.

Posted
Still no news as to when the away kit is launched....that maybe tonight ?

If I had to bet I'd be going for the black away kit from last season with aap3 stuck on the front.

The training kit they've been wearing doesn't have numbers on the back and I don't think the sponsor would easily stick across the stitching of the home kit sash.

This is exactly what they'll be wearing for the games in Switzerland. So I'm reliably informed.

It's certainly the most logical solution, and would help them shift on some more of the black kit stock they still can't get rid of at half price in the Megastore.

Who says fans want kits without sponsors on them ? They want to be able to differentiate between the away kit and the training kit as well... :D.

Just to set some minds at ease, the team against FC Biel (kick off v shortly circa 5:30pm) have warmed up in last season's away kit shorts and socks, as per a text I just received from a mystery forum co-owner.

Haven't yet come onto the pitch though, so they're running a little late.

I can now also confirm that Saints ARE playing in last year's away kit with aap3 stuck on the front and it looks, quote, "horrendous".

Posted

Just for the LOLs, I went back to the Umbro Teamwear page a minute ago and noticed the scroll-bar.

To the right of the Chevron and the boring striped one, there is a kit called the Cosmos (it's the one with the contrast shoulders) and one called, of all things, Pinnacle - that one's the one which has the band right across the top of the chest and the sleeves.

The irony of Saints wearing a shirt style named after the consortium that nearly stopped Liebherr's takeover would be a strange one.

It does prove that pretty much all of the new templates for this year are launching immediately as teamwear, which is a change for Umbro (though there are noticably none based on the England home kit for a change).

Posted

Something else I just remembered; if that collared striped thing (the Clifton) with the plain red sleeves actually is the new home kit, it actually WAS debuted on the OS about a month ago when that U-16 girls' team wore it - that's also linked somewhere in this thread (albeit along with a LOT of sarcasm about it being the new kit from me).

Posted
I think you guys may well be onto something...

I don't, I'm still being hugely sarcastic - I've also noticed that the U-16 girls' kit has the v-neck which makes it last year's template and one that Umbro don't sell any more.

I've heard too much about a Cosmos collar to let that drop at this point... Still can't work out where the references to the black bits on the sleeves come from as regards Umbro templates though - as I said previously, only the teamwear style we can see on the website as "Cosmos" (confusing, nothing to do with the collar) has any contrast colour on the sleeves.

... Can't someone just go and have a quick peek behind the big curtain in the megastore while no one is looking!

Are you being literal or figurative?

Posted

Ha… well I was being literal. I was in there yesterday and they’ve covered the bit where they print names/numbers etc with what look like a load of bin bags taped together. I assume the new shirt must be behind it.

Hah, well that confirms the story about the shirt printing going on at the moment anyway...

I was in Arsenal's store at The Emirates on the weekend, they have SIX heat presses for putting numbers on in their megastore, makes our one or two behind that curtain look amateur! Mind you there wasn't a single person buying anything... But then they can get their shirts pretty much anywhere.

Tomorrow's official site will read 'hot new signing'. You'll click on the news item and it will reveal that we have four new heat presses for shirt naming and numbering. Lots of heat presses= successful club.
