Yep, I would guess this will be first outing of away kit.

Usually released in July, and we will have games before then when we will need to wear the home kit.

We sometimes just wear the previous season's kit in pre-season until there's a kit launch, then we wear whatever we've got, e.g. the new away kit at home, etc.

I cannot remember us ever doing that before (happy to be proved wrong)

I would imagine the new sponsor will want to associate themselves asap.

The problem with "proving it" is that the only photos of Saints pre-season matches are generally from the "big" game at the end of preseason, eg Anderlecht and Panathanaikos, by which time they've already launched the home kit. It's the obscure games like Farnborough and Salisbury where we tend to trot out the previous season's kit.

I vaguely recall last preseason we wore the black kit in every match in Switzerland, because we launched that one first.

Well here's Saganowski v Ajax at St Mary's... away kit recently launched to replace the grey one that we had from the first Umbro season, home kit was the same as the previous season but we wore the new away kit at home for no good reason.

I still haven't yet found us wearing old kit preseason - mostly because in the last 10 years we've usually launched a kit before any matches begin.

You sure about that Captain Kitbag? I'm pretty sure the sash was revealed first...

The Sash absolutely was revealed first. The Black shirt about a month later, if not five weeks.

We did wear the black kit every game in Switzerland, but it wasn't released first. I got my sash the day I renewed my ST, June 12th. Black kit came out a few weeks later, but the sash didn't get its first outing until Plymouth at home.

Which would be this;

As I've said earlier in the thread. This will be our kit next season.

So essentially its the current home kit with stripes rather than a sash. I'd like it, but question is would i shell out £45 for essentially the same shirt but with stripes?

Come to think of it, I bought the wife a home shirt with her new name on it for her wedding present... now if only I could remember when my first wedding anniversary is... ;)

...anyway, I'm too busy backtracking on the "old kits preseason" thing to worry about that.

I'm pretty sure we used to do it occasionally in the 1990s, even if we haven't done it since because there's always been a "current" kit to use. I suppose we've only changed sponsors twice since 1999 so there's been limited scope for it to be a "big deal".

I really don't think it will be that shirt as it's an old design.

I asked sob why he thinks it will be that but he has yet to reply.

I also think this is more like wishful thinking or lack of attention to detail...

You're wrong, it's aap3 not asap ;)

You certainly do not get anything more romantic than that. :toppa:

I don't think the 2008/2010 shirt qualifies.

I was in a rush and obviously didn't pay enough attention, never mind guess we will all have to wait until the memorial match.

I'd be very surprised if it wasn't announced at least a few days before that match.

I see Rangers have a red away with the same pattern as Athletic Bilbao, Sunderland away, Livingston, etc. Starting to look VERY like that's Umbro's default second kit - but then somewhere on this thread it hints at our away having a sash...

It's looking increasingly likely that this will be the template for our away kit so I've knocked up a few designs for potential away kits and a possible home.

Looks like I have to get myself back over to the fm-view Forum for the latest Umbro template. Still going for the Cosmos collar on the home and an away which looks like a reverse of the Sweden away though. :)

Would prefer white and red stripes with red on top

Big fan of the black one, really like the colouring with the collar.

White one I don't like, reminds me too much of United's this season.

Unsure about the yellow one.

Good work though :)

Home shirt would be alright.

Not impressed by the away shirt template but it does seem likely in view of how widely it has been circulated elsewhere.

Personally I think the black away shirt has been done to death, every club going has had one over the last few seasons. Ditto for yellow/blue although this has stretched over forty years now, although the navy/yellow strip of two seasons ago was a good variation on the theme.

I would not rule out a sky/navy combination making a return.

and yes good work by the original post.

Like the darker shade of blue in this one than the previous effort.

I'd say you're getting warm for the away...'aap' in red and you'd be getting warmer...

That is because they didn't update that page of their website during the 2010/11 season and it is the home and away kit from 2008 to 2010.

It's the away kit from 2008/9 which was replaced by the navy/yellow thing in 2009/10 and the black training top effort in 2010/11, so even more out of date than 2010.

None-too-coincidentally it was the away kit the last time Saints played in the Championship, which tells you all you need to know about Sky's commitment to lower league football !

does anyone know if mini-kits for babies are usually made available at shirt launch or do they follow later on? my boys birthday in october so hopefully be available before then.

Got 1 for my son on the launch date last year so should be fine. He was 18 months at the time

Hmmm I thought you might say something like that.

I have seen some drawings of templates direct from umbro before and let's just say they looked familiar ; )

So according to this, the sponsors will be up by the neck??

...those images that doggface linked are just a 'lookie-likie' of the swatch I was shown. It was not the entire shirt, just a sample section. I know of a few others that have seen the same thing...I guess we'll just have to wait (after July 1st, new signings parading the new kit imo) and see if it's pukka.
