Show me the way to go home, coz I'm tired and I want to go to bed (for a ****)

As there's only half a football team, compared to the boys in -

RED and WHITE STRIPES, BLACK shorts, RED socks, with a WHITE hoop round the top ....HEY!!!

Don't mess with it!!

Which is exactly the same as Sunderland. We're their smaller, worse brother.

I'd say that in modern times Saints have definitely been more of a striped shirt, black shorts and white socks kinda team, despite the occasional flirtations with red and hooped socks. I still find the switch from white to red socks in the second season of the broad striped Sanderson shirt a bit strange.

Shall we read far too much into the Saints girls U-14s wearing this Huddersfield-esque Umbro teamwear kit in this OS article today,

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2363626,00.html

even though it's almost certainly just something red and white and Umbro that they could stick a Saints logo on at short notice ? Yes, lets. :D

I notice the keeper's shirt is about 4 years old, in case anyone is getting too excited...

Not so sure that GK shirt is an old one...think it might just be similar to old styles. Not sure if it's just my eyesight but looks a bit like dark grey at the top with a lighter grey below...not sure I remember us having that since Umbro came in!?

Does anyone know when the shirt will be announced and subesquently sold in the Saints store? I want to know if its before my birthday.

week commencing 21st july

I'll just dig out an old Craig Gordon Sunderland shirt, hold on...

There we go. From this article dated 2009, so from before then, obviously. Saints only started wearing Umbro in 2008 and our first keeper shirts were the ones Sunderland had the season before that. As we didn't change our home or GK kits the season after administration (despite Umbro and Saints saying all kits would be for a season when the kit deal was announced), Kelvin and Bart wore the amber and light blue versions of this style for 2 seasons instead :

I need to speak to my mate at Umbro, although after the slagging I got last year I'm not sure I should bother. I was told it was a sash last season and when I gave away some clues on the forum I was told I was full of ****.

I emailed a mate in the smoke who has connections within Umbro. He's putting in a call early next week. Though on hearing this, maybe I should keep whatever I get back to myself.

I know how you feel!

I have spoken to someone that deals with Umbro stuff and he hints to me we will have red on the kit plus a saints badge on it!

he's a git!

Cestrian, I think the fact it was going to be a sash was about as obvious as the identity of the super injunction footballer is now!

Bo ll ocks, it was never fact until it happened, just like the rumour mill doing the rounds now. Sash/stripes, who knows. Though I'd punt on stripes if someone was willing to give me odds on Betfair. How many stripes is a different story.

I'd be inclined to believe the post 40 towards the start of this thread, seeing as when pressed the bloke came back with a description of something (the Cosmos collar) he didn't even know was already in use for someone else. There's always the possibility he's convincingly making it up though.

The sash last season was pretty well known as one of the possible designs (along with the quarters) before it was released, because of the sash kit on the Umbro Teamwear site, which was just too much of a coincidence.

Whatever the kit is i"m sure it will be cool, I'm going for the Glasgow Rangers away from this season as my ten pennyworth. My big dilemma is what to do about the tat I've always promised myself. I'm adorning my carcass with all the great loves of my life, I've got all four kids, the misses, (in code) and now i'm turning my attention to my other loves and Saints have got to be top. So, is the crest staying with the "25"? Or reverting back to the old one? or is there an all new design in the offing? Any advice (other than football tattoo's are naff etc.) really appreciated.

The badge will almost certainly be reverting, though I'm guessing. Makes no sense to have a 125 crest in the 126th season and there have been no hints at all of a crest redesign.

Exactly. There was plenty of speculation, plenty wanted it. I think I posted something about having a sash early in the 9/10 season, but no one really knew. As you say, it might've been the quarters. There's a thought. Anyone considered we might be doing a Man U and trawling through the archives, season in season out???? Who can tell?

Stripes are returning and away shirt is yellow with blue trim in a Brazil style. Home shirt available May, Away shirt July. Sponsors logo makes shirt looks naff allgedly, better without but what shirt doesn't? Current home shirt best selling Saints shirt of all time, again unsurprising. At last I am finally ITK on something :)

Are the stripes arranged like the stripes on the pitch for this seasons final game?

I'd be surprised if it looked like this though :

I've been a bit bored without the speculation... there are 3 deliberate mistakes on here btw. ;)

I'd take that. Gutted its almost certain to be a rubbish generic type though.

I heard Umbro have new designers this year.

Until someone actually sees it, we're having both stripes AND a sash kit this year.

It's Schrodinger's Kit.

Replace the black for white, add a Saints badge and aap3 logo and it would be okay I think.

Work your magic photoshoppers...

Sleeves are hideous

Sleeves are hideous

You can tell what they've tried to do. If you hold your arms out then the stripes on the sleeves are a continuation of the ones on the rest of the shirt. But yeah, it doesn't look great.

Look great then if being crucified. Perhaps we should adopt the "Always look on the bright side of life" anthem, or "one slippery runway" if we play mancs in the cup again.

Itwould look much better with plain sleeves. Its a nice shirt otherwise.

or better still with conventional stripes on the sleeves.

I like that!

I also like the Man City away kit. If we get that in red and white I'll be very happy. Shame the sponsor will look so terrible however.

Doesn't the Pauli Exclusion Principal make that a non-starter?

I'm sure that the fact that stripes and sash are mutually exclusive is mentioned in there somewhere.

However half quartered and half stripes don't seem to be covered by that principal.

An tag at least would have given it a chance.

Incidentally, there's some Umbro geezer showing the design concept behind the Man City kit here - also shows the "tag" for 2011/12 which will be the words "Tailored By Umbro" in handwriting near the seam down one side of the shirt (presumably to replace the little triangle gimmick from last season's kit).

This just in from up smoke dweller who has impeccable contacts but lazy in his execution being a rugby following sort.....

"Right. Hot off press. Not sure on date but it will be stripes."

As if we didn't know.

BTW, IMO I think the term 'gash' is how the above is described nowadays amongst 'da yoof'. The opposing stripes make it look somewhat like a barber quartets ill-fitting waistcoat or indeed a barbers pole.

I noticed this billboard ad along Millbrook Road this morning.

With talk earlier in the thread of NYC type collar etc is it more than coincidence I wonder? And in true post season 2+2= whatever you want it to equal conspiracy stylee, with the team being whisked off to the USA for their "reward" maybe we've more than just a similar kit to look forward to

New Sunderland away style released, familiar template :

Also, West Brom are going with adidas kits from this season, so that's one lookalike we can rule out.
