Is there any clear indication on what our kit will be, or is it all speculation atm?

I'd like to keep the sash or failing that, I want our Rank Xerox kit back.

I wondered that too. The way the stripes were cut into the pitch, I'm guessing you mean?

Looked a bit like the shirt Bally wore in his first stint, the one before Keegan signed, IMO.

I doubt it, it was cut like that loads back in 2001/2 and we didn't wear that kit then either... also no-one is suggesting we wear concentric circles, which was also a favourite pitch style at one point ! ;)

that was meant to be a sort of landing strip or guidance for Fernandes ?

Remember Hoddle wanting us to have white shorts as it made the kit easier to see for teammates?

Imagine if we go back to stripes and we're **** again! Sash = promotion

This man knows his stuff. +1

He certainly tried a few circular patterns of his own on some of them.

Add another vote for the sash, or a mild variation of it.

If we keep winning I will be happy to play in a binbag!!

We did that at Plymouth, near as dammit. I hate that away kit.

Can I mark your vote as a sash then?

Are you guys mad

I love the sash and I love the stripes, but the combination of the two would be like Marmite on Ice Cream

Marmite icecream is probably todays special at the Fat Duck. Blumenthal has a lot to answer for....

Agreed.

Another Umbro striped number has pitched up with the away Hearts kit leak here, pinstripes added to this season's away template :

Theres only one way to find out!!!!!!!!!!!!

There isn't, there are plenty of ways. The whole idea sounds horrible. Diagonal stripes ? Bleugh. Sash across stripes ? Pointless and ugly, especially with a sponsor too. About the only remotely tolerable option is a sash which is broken up by white stripes, and why would you want to do that ?

I think it might have been a joke :)

I am aware of the crapness of the original comment. I don't usually use "bleugh" in responses either...

By far the worst Saints kit ever (also the first one I bought shirt/shorts/socks home and away), and more an ugly Pony tick with a load of half stripes. On the bright side, that design is now banned by FA / Prem and FL advertising regulations.

Even so we still got off lightly compared to some even more hideous efforts of the 1994 era. There's a pink / yellow / green Umbro keeper's shirt once worn by Neville Southall and based on a Jorge Campos design that I still have burned into my retina.

Ah, well I meant the design generally, so both home and away, because they were basically the same.

For some reason the shorts were the same colour as the shirt on the away kit (and the socks were the reverse). Also the last time we had black home socks before this season, he says, boringly.

Looks like this could be the template for Umbro's away shirts next season, but 2 tone slate grey with a pink pinstripe??? I hope not!

I Could see them doing this in 2 tone yellow with a blue pin stripe. Perhaps someone could knock this up to see how it might look?

my car got cleaned out in Eastleigh back then - full of shopping for a funeral as my wife's nan had died that day and we had just buried my auntie that day as well. point being, we still raised a smile as the cheeky ****ers left that away shirt in the boot....

Is it just me that really liked that kit?

I mean... that was when Le Tissier was at his absolute very best, and did this in it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDJfQHJaEDs&feature=related

That kit is what I remember of when I first got really interested in Saints and football.

Worst Saints away kit has to be this.

It's hideous. The yellow just doesn't go with that shade of blue.

Whereas I've always quite liked it! Still one of my favourites to wear.

Please no! Nothing even remotely like this one! I always hated it. No man should ever have to watch his team playing in their pyjamas.

I always thought the hummel kit as Danish pyjamas.

That one above was once desribed to me as our "candy bar" kit.

Disagree.

Prefer that shade of blue to the royal blue that tends to match the yellow as a rule.

Love that shot. Paul Wotton and Lloyd James couldn't look more disinterested if they tried!

I'd like an away kit like the Brazil kit. Gives us our yellow and blue, but good versions of the colours.

Also, the current Brazil away kit is lovely too.

But then add a sponsor and it'd probably look ****. The key thing with this shirt, and any shirt is fitting the sponsor in appropriately. With aap3 it's fine if it's done in red and white and it fits the kit, just need to make sure it's not the tacky 'stuck on patch' approach. It needs to be properly encorporated into the shirt. But nothing looks more tacky than a big colourful Flybe on your shirt, or that Hearts one above with Wonga on it. Doesn't matter how good or bad the shirt is when you have that ruining it.

This....... not itk but I have a bad feeling it will be a classic case of nice shirt bad sponsor - I hope im wrong.

The sponsor has the final sign off on the sponsor as they pay the cash.

I think Leighton Mitchell was well aware of the dislike for the flybe print so hopefully lessons will be learned, but it's not always easy with stripes as we have seen over the years!.

I know what you mean about royal blue always being put with yellow. I'd ratehr we wore Yellow and Green.

My view is that royal blue shouldn't be seen on any Saints shirt. It's the colour of that lot down the road and has no place in any of our shirts. You never see Liverpool wearing blue or Spurs wearing Red.

Now I have heard that it is going to be like this, red bottom and white at the top.... no stripes or sashes to be seen!!

no I quite like this one, although think it would of looked better the other way round, with yellow and blue switched around?

There's more than one template, and I think that's navy and, er, slightly different navy (ultramarine?) rather than grey.

I'd be very surprised if that's the case.

Not least because that template wasn't even in use LAST season by Umbro, it was a 2008/9 release only.

They do have the "stripe across front and shoulders" Republic of Ireland / Athletic Bilbao away shirt though...

and the same design, different execution for the Livingston shirts :

Just to keep us up to speed with what's been released for 2011/12 by Umbro so far:

1) Huddersfield 3 broad stripes with collar (based on 2010 teamwear Santos style - see above) - this might not count towards Umbro's total as it's teamwear, but it's on the Umbro Blog as a tailored by shirt...

2) Hearts away round neck with pinstripes added (basically Saints away 2010 but with pinstripes, though the collar looks different too)

Hearts_11_12_Umbro_Home_1-300x235.jpg

3) NEW Sunderland stripes with chevron shoulders on the back

sunderland-umbro-home-shirt-2011-12-300x142.jpg

4) NEW Ireland / Bilbao away / Livingston (see previous post)

5) NEW Double chevron "V" (Canada, N. Ireland away)

northern-ireland-umbro-away-shirt-2011-12-300x181.jpg

6) NEW New York Cosmos

regular_2011newyorkcosmoshomeshirt.jpg

7) NEW Rangers shirt with shoulder flashes :

Rangers-Home-201112-blog6.jpg

8 ) Sweden away (Saints current home sash shirt with V-neck)

That's 5 NEW templates and Umbro released around 6 new ones last season, so I'd be surprised if they come up with anything particularly unlike one of these for us.

Going back to the OP, he (eventually) said our striped shirt had a NY Cosmos collar on it (so that's template 6 but with stripes) and the away kit was yellow and blue "like Brazil", which still says the 2010/11 Forest away / Wales H / Swansea A v-neck with a single line down the sleeve to me - but that would mean more than the usual number of Umbro templates in European circulation.
