Speculation about new kit:

Recommended Posts

Heard from someone well connected with Umbro that one of the designs for next season's shirt would be that we would keep the sash and have the sponsor underneath the badge, much like they have when the 'Saints Foundation' has appeared on shirts.

Nothing for certain.

"...one of the designs..."

How many designs were/are on the table?

IMO the current sash kit is the best we've ever had.. Apart from Man City copying it for their away kit, we're different and original. Too many teams are indistinguishable with the red and white stripes.

Yep, but I also like the red-and-white quarters as well.

If you dont change a winning team, why change a lucky kit ?

A nice broderie anglais panel would be nice. How about the names of all forum members embroidered into the fabric too? Full members only of course.

Stripes all the way for me, quite a few sash shirts are starting to fade, the Northam is looking a bit grey/pink in parts.

There's a joke in there somewhere.

Old and gay? I knew there must be a comfortable place for me in the ground somewhere.

If this is done from a marketing view point, it's a big mistake - no-one's going to buy the sash shirt with a sponsor on it when they can get the plain one a few weeks before.

But if they're doing it just because it looks fantastic and they want it to be "the" shirt of the new Saints era, then fair play. The only reason i'm not happy with keeping the sash is because we can't seem to get away from the come on you reds chant.

I liked the sash shirt and thought it was a good idea for the 125th anniversary, but I wouldn't like to see it kept on past this season. I hope we return to the red & white stripes, but that could well prove a problem with the new sponsor, probably have to have a white panel on the front and looks tacky? Maybe we should go back to the Keegan era with the large white stripe down the middle Rank Xerox/Air Florida type, would probably be the best compromise.

I agree the COYR chant is engrained We even sing it when we play a team in red ffs like both Charlton games

I have grown to like the sash but would prefer to be back in stripes

most important though ditch the black away and revert to Yellows Whoever heard anyone sing come on you blacks

Stripes are returning and away shirt is yellow with blue trim in a Brazil style. Home shirt available May, Away shirt July. Sponsors logo makes shirt looks naff allgedly, better without but what shirt doesn't? Current home shirt best selling Saints shirt of all time, again unsurprising. At last I am finally ITK on something :)

Pah, even though it doesn't matter, I'm going to start mocking up some kits anyway! Any requests..

I request you not to do it. Not only are the majority of the guff, but none of them will actually be right either. This then leads to the one of two that might actually be alright to be deemed better than the one that they do actually come up with which only results in people getting all annoyed and depressed when the one they wanted doesn't get made.

Dont see why we MUST go back to stripes.

I quite like the idea in the orginal post, but would definitely change the colour of the shorts to red and socks to white.

Because it just ain't Sants without the stripes and black shorts Alps. And the sash is pants. And there is nothing "lucky" about the kit. The results are down to the players and management, not the shirts.
