It would have never happen if Pardew had stayed or we had appointed a real manager FFS.

You read way too much into some posts.

Perhaps reading them in context may help also.FFS.

It happens so often (Especially in the US) that it will be spelled that way in the OED one day. :(

Much better performance tonight. Looke decent from the off and kept it going for most of the match. Lost a bit of shape & momentum when Lallana went off, but never looked as though we were going to do anything but win.

Back five were really solid and both Richardson and Dickson had good games (Jaidi & Fonte as solid as usual). The new lad, Stephens, didn't seem to do much before he got crocked, but then again not sure Chaplow did much either. Interesting to hear Adkins quite positive about lallana and Stephens as both looked well crocked going off the pitch (Stephens on a stretcher and a lot of fuss over Lallana before he hobbled off).

Thought Guly played well (very well taken goal) and Lambert and Barnard did what was asked up front. Whilst tonight's performance wasn't champagne, it was closer to what we are capable of. Just hope the price paid (a couple of injuries) isn't too dear.

Have to say disappointed by the attendance and horrified at Charlton's turnout. I reckon about 10% (300ish) of what we took there a fortnight ago.

Could have had an awkward moment there....the worst I heard was a 'bugger' from the commentator. Also, i think someone hadn't had a cookie. Radioland sure sounds glamourous.

Dissapointed by the turnout? F*ck me. At those prices and in an economic sh*tstorm that seems pretty decent to me. Anyway, it's not always about the number, it's mostly about the noise, which we were very good at tonight.

I think it's divided - GBS.

We're separated by the North Atlantic. I can get very pedantic this late at night.

392 Charlton tonight. Truly, truly awful.

LOL what a question .... was it a precaution taking Stephens off?

... Listen .... he went off on a stretcher ... he couldn't stay on.

I nearly crashed the bloody car when he asked that, how many times do you see a players stretchered off as a precaution?

Not heard any buses, rafts, KPI's or even looking after business or controlling the controllables.

Pah .... i didn't stay up till affter 0100 for that!!

In fairness he was to busy fitting in as many in the buildings and all pulling together in the same directions as he could

Have to say tonight was the best I've seen Dickson play. He had a brilliant game. He went for some long passes that many wouldn't attempt but they paid off pretty much every time. I thought guly was going to fluff it when he went for the goal but took it cooly. Wasn't the best of games to watch as there wasn't anything particularly special in show but we were so much better than charlton, which I didn't expect after listening to the game at charlton.

Stands out a mile that chaplow is much more heavy handed that stephens, who blended into the background the whole time he was on but what he did he did well. I chringe when chaplow goes in for a tackle.

All in all job done easily and onto the next one...

Simples win and puts a lot of pressure on Huddersfield.

Lallana looked OK going off, but Stephens looked more serious.

390 Charlton fans is terrible

Still didn't think Guly was that good

Dickson and Lambert were outstanding IMO

Winning at a canter is never a bad thing! And it shows the depth of the squad that 2 goal JQ couldn't get on the pitch tonight!

Dickson sounded like a model pro post match regarding team selection, no wonder Puncheon was drummed out for refusing to Play. Reading did us a massive favour by all but killing the skates play off hopes.

Oh and Solent read out my text about having the smell of goals and Minted lamb in our nostrils (form a queue for autographs). :smug:

All in all, good result and a great night.

Carry on Nigel and Cortese!

Whoever came up with that figure must have included the stewards, old bill, ball boys and flags to get to that many. Seemed much less!!!!!!!

An awful turnout on a par with Dagenham and Redbridge midweek earlier in the season.

First game I've been to for ages - really enjoyed it. Very comfortable win, could have been more than two. I thought Dickson had an excellent match; he's probably booked the left back slot after that. Richardson played pretty well but looked to have cramp or maybe was simply knackered in the last ten minutes. Stephens looked neat and tidy, but didn't stand out particularly - Chaplow's a more combative player.

Lallana walked off the pitch, Stephens was stretchered off. My mate reckoned Adam's injury was a groin (apparently confirmed by Adkins too) so we'll just have to wait and hope. If it can be managed till the end of the season fair enough, but we shouldn't take any risks with him. that said, I get the impression that Adkins wouldn't do that anyway - a benefit of his background perhaps. Gobern played OK when he came on, and it was good to see Connolly get a run-out too.

I thought Rickie looked good; scored the second and was the pivot for our attacking play throughout. Seems to me he does one hell of a lot even when he's not scoring.

Easiest 2-0 I can remember seeing - roll on the next match, and the one after that...

Scarcely looked like one hundred, let alone nearly four.

Good solid performance and a great result.

- Dickson was absolutely fantastic.

- Frazor was solid.

- Lallana was beyond a f*****g joke before he went off.

- Lambert was superb.

- Jaidi & Fonte are just plain awesome.

- Guly, other than scoring, was SHÍT!

I thought we played really well tonight much better than saturday. Some really slick passing out there tonight. Stephens looked tidy if unspectacular, a bit like Hammond really (that's not a dig Turkish). I thought Gobern looked very good when he came on he is pretty quick, good passer and read the game well making some good interceptions.

An excellent one handed save from Kelvin in the 1st half and some good distribution from him. Defence looked solid I've not been a big fan of Dickson but he had a good game tonight so fair play to the lad. If I had to be picky I'd say Chappers passing isn't improving he puts a lot of pressure on the team with some really poor passing. Also our crosses were poor tonight far to deep and when we did get them right the Charlton box was rather devoid of white and red shirts.

All in all good game and 3pts whats not to like?

Good performance that, very similar to the Shef. Wednesday game from a few weeks back.

Pretty comfortable, never in danger and job done.

Injuries were a bit frustrating and it killed the game. Listening to Adkins none of the knocks we picked up sounded too bad, just a bit of rest and we'll be fine.

This weekend is huge though, bit nervous...

No yellow for Hammond was a big plus. When is the cut-off?

This Sunday. If he avoids a yellow on Saturday, he's in the clear.

Another 3 points form what was generally a pretty inept performance. Good job we had a solid back four. Nice one lads especially Jaidi & Dixon.

Injuries could yet ruin our run in we seem to be dogged by bad luck in midfield.

We're not there yet.

Inept? What was inept about it? We were in control for virtually the whole match. Yes, we could have upped the performance a little perhaps. But inept? Did you see the same game?

We played well at times, might have been different had Wagstaff not missed the near open goal in the first ten minutes.

I was very impressed with Ryan Dickson, what does he have to do to get a regular game?. I also liked the look of Dale Stephens,I hope he does not miss too many games.

It was Barnard that scored. They did say over the PA system that it was Lambert and the OS confirms that Bernard got it.

Did Kelv have to make a save?

He pulled off what Adkins would describe as a "worldy" in the first half when Charlton were on top for 10 minutes.

Other than that no.

Enjoyed that tonight. Dickson was excellent. Lallana was insanely good. We have to go up because I want to see him play in a Saints shirt for as long as possible and become a legend.

Ryandickson5: Great result and turn out! Going to struggle to sleep tonight! And sorry to @Solent2191 I'm terrible at interviews!! #notagoodspeaker!

I don't think Nigel works like that, look at Forte people were saying after saturday he should get a start, yet he didn't even get to come on as a sub tonight had to watch David Conolly get a run out instead.

Yeah, I was going by the PA at the match - from the northern end of the Kingsland you could only see that we'd scored, not a hope in hell of seeing who'd scored it! So, Rickie had an excellent match in spite of not scoring then... :)

At last a first half where we played well throughout and apart from the minor hiccups where a half decent team might have punished a small lapse or two, we never really looked troubled defensively. By the half time mark, Lambert was the stand out man of the match until that point. Some of his incisive passing was immaculate, worthy of a Premiership player. He's been sitting deeper this season, but pulling the strings for many of the moves that result in goals for us and he remains a very strong threat himself. There were many great cameos, some Lallana flicks and spins to bamboozle defenders, some really solid defending from Messrs. Jaidi and Fonte and Dickson and Richardson proving to be worthy understudies for Harding and Butterfield.

What was noticeable and effective was the width that we had for much of the match and the resultant space in midfield suited our game down to the ground. We played a good passing game with good movement off the ball. There were patches in the match where we seemed to go off the boil a little, to lose a bit of focus and commitment, but there was always the feeling that Charlton didn't have the wherewithal to exploit it and had they done so, we might well have had the extra gear to counter it. It is not often that we have been able to think that this season, but perhaps there is now a belief in both the players and the fans that automatic promotion is there for the taking.

Even when a flair player like Lallana went off, although that creativity was not so evident, the balance of the team didn't appear to suffer. Gobern looked assured and Chaplow brings some grit and a threat in the box when allowed to rampage forward. With tonight's imperious Lambert and Barnard's grit and energy up front, allied to a much better performance from Do Prado, we were always a threat up front.

All in all a bit of a walk in the park tonight. Comfortable. Assured. Entertaining and rewarding. Certainly not as exciting as Saturday's match, but the football was of a much better standard, perhaps because Charlton aren't as good as MKDs, or at least lacking the confidence and spirit that they possessed.

I think that when it comes to Charlie's posts, you have to either (a) ignore them completely; or (b) pat him on the virtual head and smile sweetly. In either case, just be thankful that he only gets three of them a day!

It was nowhere near that long, totally one-sided imo! Dickson was excellent though, my MoM. Chaplow was dodgy again and Lambert I thought, apart from one or two little flashes, looked jaded and off his game The rest were quality though.

Davis 7

Richardson 8

Fonte 7

Jaidi 7

Dickson 9

Guly 7

Stephens 7 (Chaplow 6)

Hammond 8

Lallana 8 (Gobern 7)

Barnard 7

Lambert 6

I can't believe we're talking about the same game?!?

Tonight I saw us play some of the best football I've seen this season...nobody had a bad game and you call it inept? More water with it maybe...?

Back at the hotel rather than a four hour drive for me tonight and feeling very positive about our form. Yes the injuries are worrying but we never looked anything other than in control tonight. Credit Charlton for trying to keep playing football and not kicking us up in the air...they aren't far off a reasonable team on tonight's showing.

That said KD only had one difficult save as I recall and Jaidi and Fonte were immense. Dickson had his best game in a Saints shirt and looked quick and intelligent on and off the ball...Richardson didn't put a foot wrong - defence was excellent and Dickson, in particular, added pace and some great balls to the attack.

I like the look of Stephens...he looks very composed and links simply and accurately - I hope he is not badly hurt. Again our overall game didn't suffer greatly when Chappie came on...not so tidy but did his usual harrying - it's the bursts forward that seem to have deserted his game recently but he played his part in an inventive midfield. Ricky & Barnie came up against a well-marshalled and disciplined defence but with Lallana, Guly and Dickson linking with them there are not many defences in this league that could have coped as well tonight!

Very positive ongoing...there's a way to go yet but we can't do more than win our games.

Crowd were brilliant tonight again (bar the minibus-load of Charlton fans - how few!?) some superb noise and good Northam/Kingsland banter.

Feeling good about life - great game isn't it, footie?
