Saint in Paradise Posted 5 April, 2011 Share Posted 5 April, 2011 I fail to understand why this has been decided and cannot believe that it should be called the World Cup anymore. The International Cricket Council has confirmed its decision to cut team numbers for the World Cup from 14 to 10 starting with the 2015 tournament. It means there is no place for Ireland, who beat England in the 2011 World Cup. Only full ICC members - India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, West Indies, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe - will compete in four years time. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/cricket/12964294.stm A sad day for International cricket
L1Minus10 Posted 5 April, 2011 Share Posted 5 April, 2011 Shocking decision, Closed shops are always a bad thing. Lowest ranked full members should have to qualify, along with best associate nation so maybe Bangladesh, Windies and Zimbabwe have to play a qualifying group against Ireland. Gorgiesaint Posted 5 April, 2011 Share Posted 5 April, 2011 This is one of the worst examples of a closed shop I have ever seen - Ireland I believe are ranked higher than Zimbabwe and have been for the last 4 years!
chrisobee Posted 5 April, 2011 Share Posted 5 April, 2011 It is absurd, there are so many ODI's played ( who on earth decided England and Australia should play 9 times after the Ashes ? ) so why reduce the number of games at a WORLD CUP. The lunatics at the ICC have excelled even themselves this time.
