Relegation from Prem

Villa didn't really "replace" their manager.... O'Neill walked when things got a bit tough financially.... I'd completely agree on Blackburn though... Allerdyce was doing a decent enough job there. Not a fan of his style of football but Blackburn weren't really in any danger under him. Seemed like the new owners just didn't want him.

I like West Ham, proper club and probably the nearest thing there is out there to Saints. I hope they stay up even though Avram is a bellend. Got to be Wigan, is there a more pointless club? Crowds of 15k in the premier league and made off the wealth of one bloke, Blackpool, Holloway has become a bellend and Blackburn, not liked them since Jack Walker bought them the league and used to see people walking round town in Blackburn shirts who had never even been within 200 miles of the place.

There's only 9 points between 7th and 19th...it's crazily close at the moment. I don't wish relegation on any team because it can really f*ck anyone up financially, but I reckon it'll be:

Wigan - Punching above their weight for a while now, they're a mid-upper Champ team imo. When you're averaging around 13k in the top-tier of English football you know you're not one of the top 20 teams in the country.

West Ham - They've got some good players but for some reason they're not picking up results. That can only be down to one thing: management. With Gold & Sullivan in the boardroom they'll probably be able to keep their best players.

Blackpool - Been sliding down the table ever since October, amazing how they're in the Prem in the first place. I'm all for the 'tenacious underdogs' but they are not a Prem team.

Villa are a proper 'big' club. ALways liked them and would be sad if they got relegated. I really want Wigan, West Ham and Ian 'funny' Holloway to be relegated. Blackburn can go next season.

I'd agree that they are a "big" club but when the going gets tough in the past, their fickle crowds immediately drop to below 30,000. Surprised it hasn't happened this year much, as of yet... That said, I do have a bit of an affinity with Villa so would definitely not like to see them go.

Wigan (utterly, utterly pointless - they must be haemorrhaging so much money), Blackpool (Holloway, attention seeking bellend), Blackburn for me (one of the biggest sh1tholes I ever had the misfortune of visiting a few times - so no real pleasant memories there; besides, like others have said, Allardyce's dismissal was ridiculous).

Great to see some of the 'traditional' clubs finding their way back up the Leagues though... QPR, Leeds, Norwich :)

I think it'll go right to the end of the season. Would like to see Wolves stay up, but they look to be losing form at just the wrong time. Would be happy to see Wigan and Blackburn and Blackpool go down, but that would mean some more long trips to away games for our fans (Round trip to Wigan on a Tuesday night anyone?)

My contempt and dislike of Avram Grant is immesuarable. Not cos he was with them lot down the road, on the contrary as he relegated them i ought to like him, but he has done absolutely feck all as a manager. How has he managed 3 top flight clubs is beyond me.

I love the fact that either Wigan or Blackpool, in the bottom 3 going into the final day, could lose their last game and still stay up

I could see Spurs battering Birmingham on Sunday, while Blackpool and Wigan only lose by the odd goal against Man United's reserves and Stoke respectively.

Would love to see Blackburn go down.

Everything about the town, club and supporters is pointless.

If it disappeared off the map tomorrow, it would be about a month before anyone else noticed.

This.

Wigan to join them please. Their pathetic excuse for a fan base do not deserve to have a team in the top flight.

Disagree. If fanbase ever becomes the criteria to play in the top-flight then we may as well ditch the whole idea of relegation/promotion and have a closed league.

A lot of the years that Saints were in the top flight we didn't always fill our relatively small stadium and often took small away support compared to a lot of teams. Does that mean we should have been kicked out? Course not.

Fair play to the Wigan fans who do go along and support their hometown football team. They only got into the league in 1978 and being a rugby town (and with Liverpool & Manchester on the doorstep) it is pretty obvious why they don't have a big support. Personally I'd much rather have a beer with one of them than some non-Yorkshire accented Leeds fan who thinks that Leeds deserve to be in the top flight.

This all said I won't cry any tears if Wigan do go down - but if they get enough points to stay up then they deserve to be in the Prem. Simple as that.

Latest relegation odds from Oddschecker:

Blackpool 4/11

Wigan 3/4

Bham 5/6

Wolves 8/1

Blackburn 12/1

Wolves and Blackburn are rightly quite long. 2 of the other 3 have to win for either of them to be threatened.

Interesting that Goal Difference is so key here (like it was for us and Huddersfield). I always think that when you go say 3-0 up with 10 mins left that is the time to defend hard (don't let them get a soft consolation goal after 92 mins) and/or really push on for some more goals. You never know when the odd +1 or +2 may come in handy...

Agree with this. Just because they don't have a massive fanbase doesn't mean the supporters who do go are any less deserving of top flight football than anybody else.

It's hard to see teams with 15000 average gates in the prem but we are where we are for a reason.

I detest them, why you hoping they stay up? Just curious, as I cant stand them!

because they have a cracking manager who plays football the right way... constantly lose their best players and play good young players too..

martinez is a breath of fresh air.. very rarely moans, always positive and talks alot of sense

Wigan are a joke. My mate's son is in their Academy team. He's never once met a player from the first team and the Manager never visits any of the youth set up's at the club. How can you bring young players into the first team if you never go and watch them? Poor management!

He had a spell at Everton and it was a completely different story. Moyes and first team players would often turn up at the Academy. It boosts morale of the young players and enables them to talk to young first teamers who've been through the process.
