Boys - I can't believe some of you thought we might win this.

Obviously going to be 5-1 isn't it. But come on - Boyd and CMS are way better than any of our players.

We just haven't got the money, we can't hang onto talented players and the season is petering out - we'll be 8/9/10th I reckon

Lol

What a disaster. This obviously will turn Bompeys terminal decline around. We are now going to have to watch our backs. This has unnecessarily brought another team back into the mix.

Utterly gutted.

Brighton have demonstrated that you don't need to play well to win games (as have we on a number of occasions this season) - if the belief is there, that will often be the key factor. By all accounts they've been woeful in their last two games (home to Notts County and away at Dagenham), but they've scraped them both 1-0. I'll take a terrible performance and one going in off Lee Barnard's arse tomorrow if it means three points.

this. They came to st marys, played like sh*t, parking the bus and timewasting from practically the first whistle, and still almost nicked 3 points if kelvin hadnt of saved that pen...

Unlike you Steve, to get it wrong. :)

I still don't think we will do it, mainly because we are simply not playing well.

My fears exactly.

And you can add, that sometimes when we do play well ie Walsall, we can't score despite how good our approach play is,or have a legitimate goal ruled out as at Charlton etc.

Orient next week could be epic

It could be nearly al over by then, beat MK and Charlton and we are half-way(ish) there....

Can we beat MK and Charlton ?..... hhhmmmmm

(tune in at 17-00 tomorrow for another exciting episode of Adkins-Adventures-of-Ricky...!!! )

I would echo this. I also think that Huddersfield have got a very good nucleus of experienced players, and unlike us are not over-reliant on one player.

Well, put it this way, the hysteria on this board since the Charlton game at the potential prospect of Lallana being out for the rest of the season is endemic of the extent to which our results depend on him being fit and playing well.

same as hudders and pilkington...hence why they are scraping 1-0s and playing poorly

Well, this keeps being used as as example (obviously) but they haven't played like that for the majority of the season. You don't get so far clear at the top of the league by playing like that alone. It simply doesn't happen.

Recently however, they have been grinding out results. Probably knackered after hammering most the teams in this league.

That's what champions do, and why (for example) Manchester United have been so successful over the last years and why Arsenal haven't. You don't walk the league by beating the teams the big teams, you walk the league by ensuring you always beat the smaller ones.

That's why Brighton will finish as the best team in this league. They have played like Champions.

They also managed to 'scrape' a 3-0 v Notts County without Pilkington last week.Unfortunately they seem to cope without him a little better than we do when AL is injured, and some of our inventiveness is lacking.

We will not win our last 10 games, I cannot remember how long I have been waiting for us to beat our club RECORD of 6 straight wins!!! I think if we win 6 and draw 2 and lose 2 we will go up in 2nd. We really do not have to do much, but a couple of games that stand out, well 3, Brighton away, Orient away, and Rochdale away, and I think we will slip up at home again before the season is out.

Shame Posh couldn't win tonight as I reckon they've got a better chance of finishing 2nd than B'mouth and every time they drop points it makes it harder for us to finish outside the top 2, which is what we really want to do. Much better to am for the playoffs than automatic promotion.

Damn .... thanks for that.

I'd forgotten that we didn't want automatic promotion. Sorry Alps.

And Kelvin, Butterfield, Fonte, Jaidi, Harding, Hammond, Lambert, Barnard, Guly, Lallana & Chaplow aren't expereinced?

What result do we want tonight then? A draw would be best IMO but a Bournemouth win would do, it's a shame they can't both lose.

exactly my thoughts ---a draw was best.

It holds back 'Boro's points total ....and keeps B'mouth in check - behind us.

Now it's all up to us. THREE games in hand on most of the other challengers..if we foul up now, we only have ourselves to blame.

How can we thank Bournemouth for pulling that out of the bag?

I suppose beating MK would be a start but I do worry that they need a little more assistance than that.

Beat Orient and I reckon they will see the straw and grab for it. At the end of the day it is ultimately down to them but maybe beating Brentford too may help them out a wee bit.

What excites me with how we can influence their season now is the thought of them cheering our results, they have to. It may stick in their throats but the fact of the matter is that they need us to finish second for them to stand an earthlies of staying in he play off spot.

This, I assume, is what we all want?

from that posh paper

FORM

IF form over the last 10 matches is replicated in the run-in to the end of the season, Posh will finish second as long as Southampton, who have games in hand, slip up.

Posh need to beat Bournemouth at London Road in front of the Sky television cameras on Friday night to put pressure on Southampton aheda of their crunch match with MK Dons the following day.

Posh have picked up more points over the last 10 matches than any of the other teams battling for second spot (Forget Brighton, they will soon be crowned deserved champions).

Southampton look the biggest danger, but they have a defeat at lowly Walsall in their recent run of form. Huddersfield are unbeaten in 2011, but have stopped scoring, Bournemouth are in freefall and while MK Dons have won five on the bounce, it was hard to see them maintaining that form for much longer given the evidence of last Monday night, and so it proved as they dropped bad points at home to Walsall on Friday night.
