Window Cleaner Posted 30 March, 2011 Posted 30 March, 2011 good, don't need mortgage brokers anyway. What happened to the good old fashioned way of just going to the bank or building society and asking them straight out without having to resort to loads of smooth talking middlemen.

Very helpful comment. There are jobs (mine, for a start) going here.
Window Cleaner Posted 30 March, 2011 Posted 30 March, 2011 (edited) Very helpful comment. There are jobs (mine, for a start) going here. Sorry to hear that but I'm just not a fan of middlemen everywhere, then again I live in a society that has little use for them. If you want a "credit" in France you just go to the bank (or banks) and ask them.Middlemanning is outlawed in the banking sector although there are financial advisers. Thus the banks and mortgage lenders are obliged to take on sufficient staff to do the job for themselves, gives better job security and advancement prospects and cuts out scurilous overlending. In general here you cannot have loan repayments which exceed 30% of your salary and it works very well.
