Rumour has it Saints are in big trouble!

Rubbish. Carry on reading and you'll see them banging on about how Lallana and Chamberlain are useless on the wing - "two CMs as wingers is not the way forward".

Edit; oops, didn't mean to close the thread. Should be good for a laugh.

I don’t think our club being in “serious” trouble is a “good laugh”?

They haven't spent £6m yet....they've just got planning permission to do so.....

Make of that what you will....

Trousers, theres nothing doing here. No conspiracy theories or any other ******.

My guess is that someone has been released, approached another club and given the reason for his release as the club being in financial difficulty..... Easier than saying i wasnt good enough or had a rubbsih attidtude.

Thread should be locked. If we all posted rumours from other sites with such alarming headlines, we wouldnt have to wait for the server to fall over, the legal bods would shut us down much quicker.

Pointless and attention seeking

Lets face it, if you are going to save money releasing academy players is not the answer.

Get rid of one key first teamer and you will save more them them all put together in terms of wages. It's what the Skates have done and it has very prudently allowed them to bring in the youngsters to cover for the slight weaknesses in their first eleven in times of financial strain....

....Oh.

Lalanna just signed a nice new 4yr contract, club turns down reported 10m offer for OC, Stephens signs a almost double your wages contract from Oldham, Ave 21k gates, No rent/Morgage for SMS and the Liebherr family all sat happily with Cortese at our last home game......

Mmmm yes I would suggest we are fighting for our financial lives and should sell them back Jose Fonte ASAP.

Fking Idiots in the Champship are running scared LOL.

Good point. In fact Antony Pulis is worth more than the whole academy put together...on paper at least.

Classic example of the type of thread that gets started when there is a long break between matches. Hopefully with 2 games a week for the rest of this month we'll be able to speak about the football a bit more.

Lol. Let's ignore the money stuff for a second, that's just jealous people trying to create problems.

What's with the 'academy not as strong as it used to be' stuff? What they mean is, we produced Walcott and Bale a couple of seasons ago and haven't since. Well, Lallana and Chamberlain are up there, and the youth teams are doing as well as ever, with many great prospects. People always make these comments so readily, yet how many Palace fans have closely watched our academy sides ffs?! Idiots.

Releasing players we don't think will make it just means more opportunity for those we do have high hopes for and younger players. When it comes to the academy, this club knows what it's doing more than most clubs out there.

For every player who makes the first team (on a regular basis) from the academy we release 5 or 6 to Salisbury,Eastbourne,Bournemouth and beyond. We even end up trying to buy some of them back at a later date.

I am not going to keep quiet about this anymore..............

People have tried to sweep this under the carpet on the Jordace Holder-Spooner thread, to many "ITKs" on the CP forum!

As I said on the JH-S thread :

Well that's a massive big fat load of crap, isn't it ?

While you said :

OMG - someone start a new thread on this NOW!!!

OMG

Did so, then pretended you were taking it seriously. :o

I make of it that you do not commit to full detailed structural design unless you have planning permission. And I work on jobs where the planning permisision and the design we completed over a year ago.

And please, we have seen the architectual images, but these you mostly see on the hoarding of the development when it is being built.

However, their source is strong, being a National TV Programme report, I mean a local TV report, Excuse me I meant to say in a National Newspaper, Sorry that came out wrong, a Local Newpaper.

Oh, um, yes, someone knows someone, (Un-named). The greatest source of all.

Well, my friend, who doesn't exist, told me that he knows a non-existant member of the Saints Acadamy who catagorically states that Nick Illingsworth Season ticket is in the post, with the cheque, and that Aliens did land at Roswell, and that Crystal Palance is to merge with West Ham and Spurs, for financial reasons and will either be called Crystal Hot Ham, or Tottenham West Palace. It was also reported in the well know fictional paper, the Chip Wrapper news, (between the advert for earning £350.00 a day with Google as advertised on BBC, and the Advert for Getting Ripped in a Month) and on the TV Sports show hosted by Ian Fuller and Jeremy Bullocks, titled Fuller ********.

What on earth possesses you to post such obvious drivel?

Indeed what on earth makes you trawl other clubs' chat sites to find such drivel?

I am hereby starting a rumour that Man U are going bust next week. Please will any lurking plastics on here put that on their site?

That's how academies work. Not everyone with promise at 12 or 13 will make it. We seem to have got it right with most we've released (ie. not sold but released before first team). Who did we try to sign back? I can only think of Howard, and that's a hell of a long time later. I don't think it counts if when released we're thinking 'he's not good enough for the top flight' and years later we're in league 1 thinking 'he could do a job for us'.

Even in the sense of Howard, we let him go when we were comfortable a Premier League outfit. If we were still in the Premier League he wouldnt even be on the radar so I dont think we can say we missed out on him or made a mistake. You cant just keep players in the squad from the academy just in case we get relegated twice in 5 years as they might come in handy if that happens!

So glad I have Glasgow Saint and Alpine Saint on ignore.

Big mistake Dave, they are the Mike and Bernie Winters of the forum - hilariously unfunny but they induce some sharp comments in response which can often be amusing !

All IMHO of course :)

These rumours have been floating around for some time.

The prime sources of this whispering campaign (for that's what it is) is somebody who was previously chairman of a northern club who were recently relegated from the Premier League amid stories of them approaching the financial brink, before he parted company with them and was then even more recently linked to a consortium who were said to be interested in buying a Championship club not a million miles a way.

You can only wonder at his motives or reasoning as to why he would be spreading the story around the football world.

Don't worry, I bored the Palace fans to death with some common sense.

Next rumour anyone?

Well done, Ade, for putting them right. I think you came across as a decent voice of reason. It's nice to see that some of them think it's ******, also interesting to see someone else call us 'Scummers' and finally that they have their own versions of some on here, (blinded by the truth, only see their version of history, ignore all posts that prove them in error, attack, attack and attack again).
