Just noticed that Jordace Holder-Spooner (or at least the spoonerism Jorder Hordace-Spooner) is currently playing for the Cherries in a friendly against Reading. Anyone know whether this is a sign of something more permanent in the offing or if we're just helping our neighbours out?

 

Be really disappointed if we are losing him - I was looking forwards to seeing Holder-Spooner crammed on the back of a shirt.

Someone on twitter who seemed to know. Seems plausible though - not really any other reason for him to be playing unless they were thinking of loaning him and the window is shut so not going to be that.

Seems strange when we are running a 'Development Squad' that a young lad would be released before the end of the season.

 

Off field troubles perhaps? ala Nile Ranger?

Don't think he has been released - he has been told he will be/is likely to be at the end of the season and Saints are helping to fix him up with another club.

Couldn't have been that long ago - he played 90 minutes for Saints on Saturday.

 

Actually may have been last Friday...along with another lad whose name I have forgotten...will ask my source again.

Shame about Hoskins. Watched him train up at Staplewood a few weeks back and thought he looked sharp, despite his size.

 

Sorry - I edited my post above - apparantly Hoskins and a couple of others HAVE been offered contracts.

That was Ward-Prowse.

Ward-Prowse, Jake Sinclair and Jordan Turnbull also were featured on the OS as training with the first team a while back. I think Ward-Prowse has a pro deal and has been in the matchday squad (but not on the bench) a couple of times this season.

He looks good from the academy highlights, but if we feel he's surplus to requirements then good luck to him. Sure he'll be a good pro. Same goes to Hoskins and the others as well.

One of the Crystal Palace forums is spreading a rumour that all of the Saints Academy have been released for financial reasons - I cant see that its true but was told this by a CP fan I work with yesterday!!

I know Ryan Tafazolli wont be offered a new contract when his contract runs out in June.

He's been on loan at Salisbury City who were trying to sort out a deal with Saints to allow him to sign until the end of the season (his loan was due to expire 3 games before the end of the season) but injury put paid to that.

 

Will be interesting to see who Adkins rates.

So anyway, we're STILL in financial trouble, we've been taken over since Markus died, and we've released the entire academy despite having one player valued at around £10m - who came through the Academy - right ? Well that all makes perfect sense.

We have a shedload of players with squad numbers who've done no more than get less than 5 appearances on the bench this season, I'd be surprised if we kept anyone who was on the fringes when we got relegated for another contract except Bart and maybe Gobern.

Maybe not even Gobern.Bart has at least another year I think, signed a new contract last summer.

I heard the other day that Morgan can leave for free if we don't get promoted,came from someone around his home town, might be crap though.

Just scanned through it. Ridiculous! Why do so many fans of other clubs really, really hate us? Are we that arrogant? I know some on here think that we should win every game 10-0 in this division, but the majority of fans I meet are quite realistic about how good we actually are. I love them all instantly saying they should put in a bid for Fonte as well!

As for Holder-Spooner, he's a good player, yes, and very quick, but I think his temperament may let him down. I've seen him a few times, and he gets wound up very easily. I distinctly remember seeing him at Basingstoke in a pre-season friendly, he was fouled (nothing bad, but a as a winger, striker you'd expect to get 3 or 4 of those type of challenge a match) he instantly got up and wanted to fight the bloke, then spent the next 10 minutes tryign to kick lumps out of him....He eventually got subbed before he got sent off!

I taught Jordace for 4 years at school and although his attitude was not always the greatest all he talked about was football! I still say he has a bright future in the game and think we may regret releasing him if true.

Don't know but it certainly wouldn't be the first time a promising player has been hoicked out of the academy for unruliness.

 

Nile Ranger being the classic example.

On a sidenote, some very nice comments from Palace fans. Even a jealous skate (well, acts like one) gets shouted down, too :)

 

I work in a restaurant and when we laid off a young lad he told all of his mates that we were going under and couldn't afford to pay him. In reality he was just useless.

 

I think he was the one i sat next to who just laughed the entire way through a 1 min silence at st marys before kick off. Jack Sinclair is the one to watch.
