Matthew Le God Posted 30 March, 2011 Author Posted 30 March, 2011 It would be totally ironic if we help them survive the season, and they beat us on May 2nd.[Having said that it is unlikely the football league will throw them out before the end of the season anyway. It is not that the Football League would throw them out. It is that the club might be liquidated on business grounds - nothing the Football League would/could do about that.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 30 March, 2011 Posted 30 March, 2011 What a load of rubbish. Saints are in financial misery, not a hope in hell we could afford £170k for a 17 yer old. Unleeeeeeeeeeess... There's a 3 page thread on a load of b*ll****...? Okies, I understand.
latter day saint Posted 30 March, 2011 Posted 30 March, 2011 It is not that the Football League would throw them out. It is that the club might be liquidated on business grounds - nothing the Football League would/could do about that. so there's still a chance it may happen then ? Result ! (dives for cover)
thorpie the sinner Posted 31 March, 2011 Posted 31 March, 2011 Anyone know if Mr Stephens is training today?
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 31 March, 2011 Posted 31 March, 2011 Anyone know if Mr Stephens is training today? Which one?! Too many of 'em about now!
del boy Posted 31 March, 2011 Posted 31 March, 2011 The Costas sighting is the confirmation were all waiting for

Matthew Le God Posted 31 March, 2011 Author Posted 31 March, 2011 No longer a rumour. Nigel Adkins confirmed today that Jack Stephens has been to the club to have a look round.
SuperSAINT Posted 31 March, 2011 Posted 31 March, 2011 No longer a rumour. Nigel Adkins confirmed today that Jack Stephens has been to the club to have a look round. Nice work on reporting the rumour in the 1st place, MLG. Hope he signs. We'll find out next week if he 'does a Fulham' on us or not.
saint_stevo Posted 31 March, 2011 Posted 31 March, 2011 Anyone know if Mr Stephens is training today? i can confirm i was

Professor Posted 1 April, 2011 Posted 1 April, 2011 As a 17-yr old born and bred in Plymouth, it'll be no surprise if Jack Stephens and his parents ar not keen on him moving to London or Liverpool, and certainly not the North East. The geography favours us and as he's already played in L1 as a 16-yr old he must be a genuine prospect. If Plymouth weren't desparate for some cash - its reported that their players are going unpaid and are relying on loans from the PFA - they wouldn't be moving on a player at his age who will be worth a whole lot more in a year or two. If there is a fee of £170k it will be an excellent investment. Sorry for the Pilgrims who have had a real slump in the last couple of years. It would be very sad if they fold as we need more teams in the south, not less.
SFC Forever Posted 1 April, 2011 Posted 1 April, 2011 It's on OS now as Nigel has spoken about the chance of acquiring him.
fanimal Posted 1 April, 2011 Posted 1 April, 2011 This does not make sense IMO; Why pay for him now and effectively save PAFC (who would then no doubt do a Walsall on us on May2nd in polite return;) when we could get him in the close season if he really wants to come here? doesnt make business sense unless he really is that good, in which case he will get snapped up in 3 years time anyway!

Maybe because we're not the kind of club that would send another club under just to get a youth player for free.

Or because if we leave it too much longer, other clubs will jump in before us? He's in demand, so if we stall he'll end up somewhere else.
Saint Charlie Posted 2 April, 2011 Posted 2 April, 2011 Set to sign a 4 year deal with Saints. Source - Plymouth local paper and Soton Echo Great news, good work to all involved, sounds a cracking player.

CWD Posted 2 April, 2011 Posted 2 April, 2011 (edited) Great news, welcome to the club Jack. I hope you're here for years to come! Edited 2 April, 2011 by CWD

thorpie the sinner Posted 2 April, 2011 Posted 2 April, 2011 Did Adkins mention anything about Jack Stephens in his post match interview?
hypochondriac Posted 2 April, 2011 Posted 2 April, 2011 Anyone know the type of player he is and if he is any good?
S-Clarke Posted 2 April, 2011 Posted 2 April, 2011 Anyone know the type of player he is and if he is any good? Similar type of player to Dan Gosling apparently. Can play at the back or in MF.
paulwantsapint Posted 2 April, 2011 Posted 2 April, 2011 IF the boy does sign in next few days would it be worth NA taking him with squad to a couple away games not to play but to get used to be around 1st team?

Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 Seems Jack Stephens will sign today on a 4-year deal, with Plymouth being paid an initial £145,000.
SO16_Saint Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 Hes being talked up a fair bit, one for the future..
scotty Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 Interesting that he's done the rounds of the training facilities and opted for us. Hopefully that helps confirm the direction we're headed in.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 This shows real intent - well done to NC and NA for showing the intent and welcome to Jack too.
Gemmel Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 We are now considered as one of the top teams to develop youngsters. We are trusted by parents and other clubs. This is massive. Irrespective whether Jack turns out to be a wonder kid or not, little old league one Southampton have muscled out Premiership clubs. Well done (Dare I say it) lowe and Cortese. Fantastic news. Feels good to be a Saints fan
Draino76 Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 He's a bit ugly and looks like a Vauxhall Conference player but I wish him the best of luck. Welcome to Saints!
RobM Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 He's a bit ugly and looks like a Vauxhall Conference player but I wish him the best of luck. Welcome to Saints! I think you should post pictures of yourself, so we can all revel in your beauty and to justify that comment. Welcome Jack, I'm sure we all hope to see you do well here
Daren W Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 Interesting that he's done the rounds of the training facilities and opted for us. Hopefully that helps confirm the direction we're headed in. But I thought the Academy was being sold and all the youth team players in Hampshire being released??? Is this not true???
scott_saints Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 I'm at the training groundwaiting for him t turn up so I can boo him first.
Alain Perrin Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 Yup, got all the Dan's, let's collect all the Stephens'
saintscottofthenortham Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 I'm at the training groundwaiting for him t turn up so I can boo him first. I beat you to it. I waited round the corner on the main road, I booed and gave the w*nker sign to every motor to make sure I didnt miss him.
Draino76 Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 I beat you to it. I waited round the corner on the main road, I booed and gave the w*nker sign to every motor to make sure I didnt miss him. You do realise this sort of behaviour leads to being dinked on the nose?
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 Still nowt on the OS?! Surely the Echo couldn't get it wrong? Hope we haven't been pipped at the post by one of the Premier League vultures?!
Deppo Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 If it was down to me, I'd probably choose to go to Fulham. But then I'd turn up to sign just as they were unveiling a statue of Michael Jackson and think, "What sort of a joke football club is this?", and hightail it down the M3.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 I went to a gig with him last night, he said he's moving up there today. Shame really From a poster on PASOTI.co.uk... Might have answered my own question there.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 Yes, sorry, the thread is called Stephens to Southampton. Pretty crucial piece of missed info from myself there...
saintscottofthenortham Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 You do realise this sort of behaviour leads to being dinked on the nose? Going by today's standards that would warrant more than a dink on the nose.
SuperMikey Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 Great signing if true, another one for the future. Is he available to play for the first XI straight away?
del boy Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 I beat you to it. I waited round the corner on the main road, I booed and gave the w*nker sign to every motor to make sure I didnt miss him.
Amesbury Saint Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 confused .... thought transfer window was closed?
farawaysaint Posted 3 April, 2011 Posted 3 April, 2011 It'll be a miracle if he signs after reading this thread They're just kidding Jack, Saints fans have a strange sense of humor
