It would be totally ironic if we help them survive the season, and they beat us on May 2nd.[Having said that it is unlikely the football league will throw them out before the end of the season anyway.

It is not that the Football League would throw them out. It is that the club might be liquidated on business grounds - nothing the Football League would/could do about that.

so there's still a chance it may happen then ? Result ! ;)

No longer a rumour.

Nigel Adkins confirmed today that Jack Stephens has been to the club to have a look round.

Nice work on reporting the rumour in the 1st place, MLG.

Hope he signs. We'll find out next week if he 'does a Fulham' on us or not.

As a 17-yr old born and bred in Plymouth, it'll be no surprise if Jack Stephens and his parents ar not keen on him moving to London or Liverpool, and certainly not the North East. The geography favours us and as he's already played in L1 as a 16-yr old he must be a genuine prospect. If Plymouth weren't desparate for some cash - its reported that their players are going unpaid and are relying on loans from the PFA - they wouldn't be moving on a player at his age who will be worth a whole lot more in a year or two. If there is a fee of £170k it will be an excellent investment.

Sorry for the Pilgrims who have had a real slump in the last couple of years. It would be very sad if they fold as we need more teams in the south, not less.

This does not make sense IMO; Why pay for him now and effectively save PAFC (who would then no doubt do a Walsall on us on May2nd in polite return;) when we could get him in the close season if he really wants to come here? doesnt make business sense unless he really is that good, in which case he will get snapped up in 3 years time anyway!

Maybe because we're not the kind of club that would send another club under just to get a youth player for free.

Or because if we leave it too much longer, other clubs will jump in before us?

He's in demand, so if we stall he'll end up somewhere else.

Great news, welcome to the club Jack. I hope you're here for years to come!

Fewer, not less. Keep taking the professorships...

Anyone know the type of player he is and if he is any good?

Similar type of player to Dan Gosling apparently. Can play at the back or in MF.

Interesting that he's done the rounds of the training facilities and opted for us. Hopefully that helps confirm the direction we're headed in.

We are now considered as one of the top teams to develop youngsters. We are trusted by parents and other clubs.

This is massive. Irrespective whether Jack turns out to be a wonder kid or not, little old league one Southampton have muscled out Premiership clubs.

Well done (Dare I say it) lowe and Cortese.

Fantastic news. Feels good to be a Saints fan

He's a bit ugly and looks like a Vauxhall Conference player but I wish him the best of luck. Welcome to Saints!

I think you should post pictures of yourself, so we can all revel in your beauty and to justify that comment.

Welcome Jack, I'm sure we all hope to see you do well here :)

But I thought the Academy was being sold and all the youth team players in Hampshire being released???

Is this not true??? ;)

I beat you to it. I waited round the corner on the main road, I booed and gave the w*nker sign to every motor to make sure I didnt miss him.

You do realise this sort of behaviour leads to being dinked on the nose? ;)

If it was down to me, I'd probably choose to go to Fulham. But then I'd turn up to sign just as they were unveiling a statue of Michael Jackson and think, "What sort of a joke football club is this?", and hightail it down the M3.
