doddisalegend Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 Great great day. I wondered if I'll see another like it? I loved every moment of it from first to last. Wish we still had Antonio in the squad. When ever I hear someone banging on about wanting saints out of the cup competitions (as they do every season) I just think back to the JPT final and think....why? The league is the bread and butter of any team but the best matches the ones you really remember so often seem to be cup matches.
rolosfc Posted 28 March, 2011 Posted 28 March, 2011 What a great day out! I wish Waigo was still here! Oh Papa Waigo... He's always offside!!
Saint_clark Posted 28 March, 2011 Posted 28 March, 2011 Oh yeah and Cortese WAS booed that day By utter mongs, yes.
Dimond Geezer Posted 28 March, 2011 Posted 28 March, 2011 What a great day. I was so pleased I could take my youngest son to see Saints in a Wembley/cup final. I felt I ‘owed’ him one, as my eldest went to Cardiff in 2003 when he was 6, and after our dramatic fall from grace I was thinking it would never happen. I felt it appropriate that the goals were scored by Lambert, Lallana, Waigo & Antonio, for me, they seemed to do epitomise our JPT run. I was also pleased that when Chris Perry got on the pitch. The only disappointment I have is that the club seemed to treat our win as a bit of an embarrassment, the trophy was never paraded at SMS & isn’t even in the squad photo. Oh I miss Waigo & Antonio too.
holepuncture Posted 28 March, 2011 Posted 28 March, 2011 One of the best days I have had supporting Saints. An absolute classic. Ive got a few clips on my phone, one is about 15 seconds long, when they are playing 'the Saints..are Coming'... it breaks into the chorus, 50k (well, 60k) Saints fans sing along together, its a spine tingler! Great for Lallana to get a historic goal for Saints, and for Rickie too seeing as he is growing into a bit of a cult in the Northam! Great celebration by Papa, he was good value! And, of course, Mr Liebherrs fitting tribute.

alpine_saint Posted 28 March, 2011 Posted 28 March, 2011 What a step backwards we have taken. At best we are standing still and lacklustre performances. Aw come on you killjoy. We are still in the hunt for promotion big-time. Last year was already looking highly unlikely, and for me promotion is much more important than a worthless trophy and being a few hundred quid lighter from an obligatory visit to one of the biggest fleeching operations in English football.

Wierdly after 37 games we're exactly 2pts better off this season than this time last year (if you take the -10 into account) just goes to show how big a kick in the teeth the -10 was last season IMO.
Doctoroncall Posted 28 March, 2011 Posted 28 March, 2011 I imagine he is referring to his opinion that we have failed to kick on from last year. Whilst my feelings are not as strong as saint lard's, I think if most people were honest, they thought we were going to **** the league this year and totally dominate teams in the aftermath of the excellent wembley display. I miss waigo I agree, pre-season expectation may have been built too high but I was expecting more, something like how Brighton have done it this season. However it came crashing down with the manager debacle which, since the appoint of Adkins I still expect promotion and it hasn't helped with always having games in hand so seemingly viewed as off the pace.
hypochondriac Posted 28 March, 2011 Posted 28 March, 2011 By utter mongs, yes. Possibly. Or possibly by disillusioned fans who were making their feelings known.
Saint_Ash Posted 28 March, 2011 Posted 28 March, 2011 Possibly. Or possibly by disillusioned fans who were making their feelings known. Yeah Mongs, if you can't go to Wembley and appreciate your team at a final without booing then you're a mong.
Appy Posted 28 March, 2011 Posted 28 March, 2011 Someone in front of me on that day booed when Cortese was on the screen, he then turned and asked his friend who it was.
