DeanHammond Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 Well in that case I just don't get it.. 5000 fans suddenly come out of the woodwork and want to watch BHA week in week out? Why aren't they trying to go to games now? When we played at the Dell, towards the end I was a member.. used to get on the phone every other Monday morning to try tp buy tickets.. some weeks I managed to get through and other times I used to drive 20 miles up the road so I could get Radio Solent Anyway I digress... fecking BHA Problem for them is GP will go elsewhere in the summer and they've got no cash to strengthen whereas Saints.. Ouch. A more ill-informed post I'm yet to see.
Draino76 Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 Someone disagreed with Brighton being tin-pot? PMSL.
Matthew Le God Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 Someone disagreed with Brighton being tin-pot? PMSL. Des disagrees...
Draino76 Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 It has only reaffirmed my belief they are akin to a pot made from tin. That video looks like it has been produced on a Playstation 2; and I'm being nice.
Matthew Le God Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 Well even if it was produced on a Playstation 2, it did the job is was meant to do - fill up orders for the posh seats.
BHA Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 It has only reaffirmed my belief they are akin to a pot made from tin. That video looks like it has been produced on a Playstation 2; and I'm being nice. Not just tin recycled tin, forms the perfect pot.
ericb Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 i really like the new BHA stadium to be honest with you and find it sad ours doesn't have their character. Anyway that aside fair play to them, they're definitely the best team i've seen this season and well deserve their promotion and league win. The only thing i find sad is the real bitterness from some of theirs (and other clubs in the division) towards us. This could be a really good season for south coast football but for some reason there's a few that can't celebrate that. Oh well their loss i guess, for me i've found that i like most clubs in this division, with the only exception being Franchise FC who i hope go out of business for what they did to the Dons.
gjphilsaint Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 There are quite a few good teams in this nleague... BHA, us, posh, Huddersfield..... stand out... and because only 3 can go up it will be squeaky bum time for probably the rest of the season... lots of twists and turns to go yet.
Daren W Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 Its called unrealistic mathematics. And that's different from normal mathematics, how?
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 Its called unrealistic mathematics. Lets see how you bummers cope in the championship, at least we've got the finance to build the squad up !

LostBoys Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 I am afraid you have to hand it to BHA - an average to poor team with poor support but very well managed and a model of consistency with very few opportunities missed and I think I read they have gained 21 points in the last 15 minutes and extra time of games. This is why they are going to be Champions this season and deservedly so. I think we will beat them at their place and we will still be a poor second and we all know why with the list of second rate performances we have managed this season..

If we beat them then the only reason we will be behind them is due to a few poor home results, most of which were in the first four home games of the season.

I think there have been a few away ones as well and I think I attended some of them. I think we will be second but the points difference at the end of the season will still be ten plus and that is a poor second in my book particularly when you compare squads.

We took 2 points from our first four home games: Plymouth Orient Rochdale Colchester We should have got at least 7 more points against those. Add in a win at Brighton and we would be in with a decent shout of winning te league.
Thedelldays Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 Tell you what, fair play to Brighton, they have been excellent this season However, I will be very VERY surprised if poyet is still manager come Xmas.. They don't have the pull as a club to get someone equally good.. Good luck to them

We are not "an average to poor team" as you suggest we are just better than everyone else...We play the best football and are streets ahead of any other team in this division. Not sure why you me mention the support either as we pretty much sell-out every game, give or take a few seats, in the worst 'stadium' in the top 5 divisions...Also, we have had some comical away attendances this season although I not blaming the away fans for that...In fact when I am away with England I actively encourage opposition fans not to come! Following on from this, at last check we were in the top 4 for away followings in League 1 this season... I have to say I am not sure how correct the 21 points from the last 15minutes of games is but we have got late winners this season. This is mainly due to us having to be patient in games and wait for the break-through as teams are just 'parking the bus' when they play us...They are doing this even when they are at home which shows how much they want to stop us playing because they know if they get involved in a passing match against us then we will destroy anyone...

I'm not sure you are "streets ahead" of Saints or Peterborough but you are clearly more consistent across the whole season. We have been pretty much equivalent since our upheaval at the start of the season, I think. Anyway, as others have said, it's nice for another localish club to come up with us. Far prefer away matches just along the coast or in London than in some northern dump. I hope you lot stay up next year and can find a decent replacement for Poyet.
lethallee Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 I actually think Adkins comments were meant as a motivation for his own team. Reminds me of the famous motivation quote 'Aim for the stars and maybe you'll reach the sky' i.e aim to win league but be content with 2nd place. Brighton's tactics and style meant they had this league all but wrapped up sometime ago and Adkins would of known this deep down.

Pretty easy to understand really - man for man BHA do not have anywhere near a top finish squad but make up for it in many other ways. The 'last 15 minutes' came from Sky after one of the BHA games - I do not trawl other clubs web sites for information. In terms of 'parking the bus' you should recall the BHA game at St Marys - you cannot destroy the opposition with passing if you do not emerge from your own half. BHA deserve to finish as Champions and even with a new stadium will struggle when Poyet goes at the end of the season.

And i think we have more than enough finance to build our squad up come summer. Maybe we wont cope but then maybe we will cope in the championship, time will tell.

Then maybe we would be further ahead of you. Ifs and buts count for nothing every team drops points over a course of a season that they shouldnt of done, thats football.
Matthew Le God Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 You know you can do multi-quotes don't you?
Thedelldays Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 Gus will be staying. Bet he does not. When west ham or wolves go down or Cardiff or forest fail to go up, he will be gone
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 Its called unrealistic mathematics. Unrealistic statement in itself! It's called focusing the minds of the players. That's what is possible, I want us to strive for it. An admirable concept in my book.

Maybe not so easy for you to understand as you think if you really believe that Poyet is going at the end of the season...I mean, who do you think he is going to join? I am not sure why you think man for man we do not have a top finish squad - We have one of the divisions top scorers and our second forward already has 15...I also believe we have the meanest defence in the League 1. I am struggling to think of many players from other squads who would get into ours... The reason we struggled to get out of our half at St Marys was because we turned in one of our poorest passing performances this season which was in no small part to yourselves. I thought you were pretty good and penned us back...Saints has clearly done their homework and and set about stopping us from playing our game by closing us down extremely quickly and really getting at us so fair play to you for that. The thing is with the effort you put in with your guys were knackered after about 50mins spaces opened up and we found the game easier and really should have gone on and won the game comfortably.

Sure across the season there are always contingencies. My point is that you have had a consistent set up and approach throughout the season. Our season is in two clear phases and during the second and longest one we have been pretty even. The first phase is the reason we are not several points clear of Hudd and Pboro.

What a load of carp. You had a couple of chances when you started playing direct in the last 15 but we should have had the match wrapped up long before then. Anyway, we're both going up so it doesn't matter.
BHA Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 Bet he does not. When west ham or wolves go down or Cardiff or forest fail to go up, he will be gone What you are saying he came to Brighton to manage football at withdean the worst stadium there is and now with our stunning new home nearly finished, he is going to leave us in the summer and not lead us out in our new stadium, i think the stadium was one of the reasons he came to Brighton. I think you are wrong about our Gus he is here for while yet.
Thedelldays Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 Yes that is what I saying. Much like so many other managers do.. Move on to bigger clubs with better players and more chance of the big time..!! It happens all the time believe it or not He is a manager very much on the way up. Enjoy him while you can

He wont be gone in the summer like you quoted.

BHA Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 Why is your stadium so small? Not a dig, just wondering what the rationale is? Was there no room to build a bigger one? Could only get planning to get 22500 at the time or the stadium would of not passed planning permission. Now the stadium is in place we can expand, fill in the corners and another tier on east stand without any roof alterations. Club are already looking to expand already. will take us to over 30000
Thedelldays Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 So with a bit of hope, one day you may have a ground as big as ours.. Good luck
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 Does it not concern Brighton fans that on the verge of Championship football, and clearly the better team over the course of the season, that the club is having to dig out 5 month old comments in order to get the players motivated for a home game against Swindon?

You're right! What the f*ck?! Or, alternatively, no, no it doesn't.
Crazy Diamond Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 It really is quite amusing that so many of our rival teams in this division get so offended by Mr. Adkins, he's probably the most harmless bloke I've ever heard! Bournemouth hate him, Brighton are riled by him, all by someone trying to be positive!
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 Oh God! You're right! What the f*ck?! Or, alternatively, no, no it doesn't. Good point. To get the players up for the next game dig out a 2007 episode of Location Location Location because I think Kirsty said something particularly hurtful about Brighton property prices not being worth it. It is unnecessary from Brighton - they should be better than this. It just reeks of small-time mentality, something they should be above considering their prospects in terms of promotion and the new stadium.

Ok one more response - Gus Poyet has done a fantastic job for you but will have a number of opportunities to join a bigger and better supported club with a much stronger squad with his record - hence he will leave. It may be you will continue to do well without him but other clubs records show that is often not the case. Before you resort to the other twaddle that BHA supporters like to publish on this forum which I thought was for SFC, we deserve to be in this league due to the inept way the club was being managed. We have now had investment in the squad and it is much better than yours but you are top and we are not and that is a great credit to you. I hope you do well next year and when the reality check comes it is not too severe as ours was. In terms of the game at St Mary's you were crap and we should have buried you but we did not and unfortunately for us this was not the only game. I am pleased you enjoy posting on our forum - I have not looked on your but surely it cannot be that bad you use ours.

Our previous owners sold our ground and hung us out to dry so cant see that your situation was ever as severe as ours has been over the last 14 years in all due respect.
Matthew Le God Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 I can't see that your situation was ever as severe as ours has been over the last 14 years in all due respect. Nonsense, Saints were on the brink of going out of business in the summer of 2009. Also... - Brighton trying to get a new ground for 14 years. - Saints were looking to move from the The Dell from the 1950/60's until 2001.

Matthew Le God Posted 27 March, 2011 Posted 27 March, 2011 No we weren't. What would have happened if the Liebherr deal broke down? The club couldn't have been supported much longer through admin and they may have pulled the plug as they was no money and the Pinnacle fiasco dragged things out.
