He's not gritty like your site suggests, he's not much of a tackler, or a runner.

But he's the cloest thing to Steven Gerrard without actually being Steven Gerrard, a very good composed passer for this level and can strike a ball. He was always going to move on from us, he's gota lot of potential to grow into a top player. He might have a few detractors, but until he was injured recently these detractors didn't know what they had 'til it's gone because our midfield went to crap went he was out.

Good luck to Dale and yourselves, you've got yourselves a good player.

So, he's like a thin Neil Mellor?

adkins out...this does nothing to massage my ego...the club are skint, playoffs at best

TBH, we now have quite a young squad so I think we would be better off giving up on the play-offs this season so that we can get promoted in a year or two. We don't want to rush these guys and risk an injury.

Oldham's own website player profile has his dob as 12/12/87,so I'm not sure how their press release could get his age wrong, let alone Sibley.

http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10337~39236,00.html

Anyway, never mind his age, what is that tattoo on his arm? It looks suspiciously like he's got a club tattoo. Surely no professional player is that daft?!

He's not tall is he?

If it says "OAFC" he can just cover up the C and no-one will be any the wiser. :)

You are right, we should be investing money in experienced players for now. Players already proven at a higher level like Youssef Safri and Jason Euell.

Wonder if his right arm says Stephens?

I don't think so, but I'm impressed with his level of support for the welsh former Saints left back.

I would take Safri back in a shot!

Unless he has gone old and fat.

They missed out on a promising Stephens about 10 years ago, Well done for finally righting that wrong!

Their loss is most definitely Santos' gai...

Is this to fill our red card quota?

Except that Gerrard is a big bloke and this lad is a midget. We shall see, think he'll be back with you before you think.

Bit of a premature response, don't you think?

Thanks for the info, Latics Fan.

No I don't,we shall see as I say,he's got 10 games to prove himself good enough for the NPC and then we'll know.

I really worry that we're not taking our impending accession the NPC seriously enough. We're going to have to spend money you know but now is not the time. Thus it's a loan deal for Stephens and will probably be nothing more.

What I want to know is whats wrong with proper names... cant we go back to the times when Footballers were cally 'Albert' date=' Jack, Les,' and all that? 'Dale' thats a hill ;-)[/quote']

No, a hill is the opposite to a dale, a dale is a little valley.

Has anyone checked the Oracle that is FM for his date of birth. And love the fact he has his name (Dale) tattooed on his forearm, would be useful in case he forgot it.

According to FM he's 29 now...

(Ok, ok, I've been playing a while, born in 87 according to FM)

Well, it turns out he's had it removed since those days...

Alpine saint asked me to pass on his utter disgust at Saints lack of ambition with this signing. He can't get to his computer right now because he is busy trying to work out where St Marys is.

I lol'd. :D

Yet they're even more untested than Dale Stephens? The only midfield signing I've seen recently of any merit was Michael Stewart to Charlton. Apart from that, perhaps Dale Stephens. Besides, many Championship sides sign players from L1 and L2 who have absolutely no problem in stepping up.

Anyway, let's see what happens ;)

His goal scoring attributes complement a player who can win the ball and has an eye for a pass, characteristics that have led to him being a long term target of Nigel Adkins, who has tracked his progress over the past months. Stephens has also attracted keen interest from clubs above League One level with Leeds United and a number of Premier League sides reportedly having kept tabs on the player.

The gritty midfielder will add competition for places in the centre of the park,

Based on that the lad sounds pretty good to me.

And then you read the post from the Oldham fan, not gritty, not a runner, not a tackler more like a 5ft 6 Gerrard, except that Gerrard is 6ft 2 and can handle himself. You don't know who to believe really.

Thats a great plan.

The only flaw being that we are currently not in the NPC and so its not quite that easily to get top level NPC players to drop down into league 1.

Which is why I say that now is not the time. This lad is just a loan.

I don't think you are taking Huddersfield, Peterborough, Bournemouth or MK Dons seriously enough.

One good thing is that the lad has got a full weeks training to get to know his fellows players and our systems before our next game.

CM

Hammond - club capt, seems to be in form

Chaplow - good, young recent signing

Morgan - injured, possibly for season but wouldn't be stunned to see him again this season

Vast majority on here agreed that any 2 out of those 3 make a good pairing for us. We still have that!

Now signed 21 midfielder who has scored 10 in 37 games, 2nd highest assists in his club, - which is more goals and assists in this division than our CM!

Whose fans seem gutted to lose him

fit and ready to perform at league 1 pace

Can see no reason to moan

And we spent money on him? FFS! Everyone out!!!

Yup, good signing by all accounts. Young player, scores goals, makes goals, & plays in a position we need a signing!

I'm not happy! ;)
