No Ifs, No Buts and No English GCSE.

Sorry Ben i couldn't resist. A win tommorow would be absolutely brilliant, but i don't get this whole, win tommorow and we will be second malarky, it matters not were we are when we still have games in hand etc. It matters at the end of the season when we are all equal.

If anything it takes a little bit of pressure off, which, IMO will help us perform better tommorow.

Winning tonight puts us second, which is important psychologically because most other sides are playing once or twice again before we have another match, and we need to show that even with a couple of games in hand we're "rightfully" second and can actually show we've been there and it's only lack of matches that keeps us from it.

It also serves as a motivation for the match itself as opposed to the usual generic "keep winning and we'll move up the league".

If Brighton slip up against Notts County (you never know with the way this weekend went) it might also put a bit more pressure on them - they're playing 3 times to our 2 in the next fortnight as well and if they get 13-16 points ahead even having played more matches we can forget even the outside chance of winning it.

Doesn't help that they're playing a load of rubbish teams in the next few weeks, but there's always the chance of injuries and complacency.

The chance to go potentially 5 points clear of P'boro assuming we win the game in hand. We have to take these chances so late in the season.

No we don't. We need to end the season one point clear of Pboro, or maybe level, in all likelihood.

So if we go five points clear, that means we can probably afford to screw up later in the season.

I do get bored with everyone always seeming to say that every game is a "must win".

It's like that absurd thread saying we may have to win all our remaining games to get promoted.

It's total rubbish.

I dont think it is a 'must win' by any means, a draw wouldnt be the worst thing, what I meant is that its a great chance to give ourselves some room for if we slip up later on. Id rather be 5 points clear with everyone looking up at us than 1 point clear from the pack, always being a game away from dropping to 3rd or 4th

Swings and roundabouts in regards to psychology really, yes i see your point. If we can capitalise on Posh's mistake then of course it makes the rest of the league to look at us with dread. I have been thinking for a little while now 'are Brighton/P'Boro ever going to drop points' and luckily for us one of them did last night. I thoroughly agree we need to instill that thought in the other teams heads.

Another way to look at it however is there will now be a slight relief in the camp that may actually release us to play better football tonight, before hand they would have been going out thinking we have to win in order to keep up, but now they can think we have to win to put the pressure on. And as a player on the pitch that is a massive massive difference.

As for Brighton, i gave up on them ages ago, I predicted back when we lost to Tranmere that it was the day we had conceded the league. And they have rumbled on and rumbled on since, there is no way that we will come 1st now.

And Alps, please give it up mate, your crap about how loud our inadequacies are is just a non existant arguement, we have been a real powerhouse under Adkins, generally speaking we have done a good job, a few dropped points here and there but then look at the points we have picked up !

I may be stating the obvious but with MK Dons beating Peterboro tonight which was Good and fair play for winning and making Saints's chances of getting 2nd and an automatic place, but all I have to say is that there is No Ifs, No Buts in that We Have To Win Tomorrow Night At Charlton which I will be at so that we can go 2nd and capitalise on Peterboro's mistake and go above Huddersfield as well and get the Automatic spot too!!!

Thoughts!?!

Thanks!

COYR :D!!

Let me just check something...

We're 3 points behind second place, with a superior goal difference...

And we'd get 3 points if we win tonight...

Yes, I can confirm, you are stating the obvious
