dannysfc Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 I may be stating the obvious but with MK Dons beating Peterboro tonight which was Good and fair play for winning and making Saints's chances of getting 2nd and an automatic place, but all I have to say is that there is No Ifs, No Buts in that We Have To Win Tomorrow Night At Charlton which I will be at so that we can go 2nd and capitalise on Peterboro's mistake and go above Huddersfield as well and get the Automatic spot too!!! Thoughts!?! Thanks! COYR !!
S-Clarke Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 Well observed! (Although if we don't win it will not be the end of the world)
um pahars Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 I wouldn't be too downhearted if we got a fighting draw.
beatlesaint Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 Well observed! (Although if we don't win it will not be the end of the world) Agreed, but it will be for some !!!
Pedro Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 And our saturday game is postponed whilst Plymouth players don't go on international duty, conspiracy or what?
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 I feel it's an opportunity we must take. To be ahead of Hudders and Peterboro' with games in hand would surely be a psychological boost for us and a blow for them.
Smirking_Saint Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 No Ifs, No Buts and No English GCSE. Sorry Ben i couldn't resist. A win tommorow would be absolutely brilliant, but i don't get this whole, win tommorow and we will be second malarky, it matters not were we are when we still have games in hand etc. It matters at the end of the season when we are all equal. If anything it takes a little bit of pressure off, which, IMO will help us perform better tommorow. COYR
Griffo Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 I'm Looking Forward to it Lots too Ben Mate! ;) Should Be good and I'll be There. Hope to see Loads of you saints Fans there!?!! Hopefully there Won't be any Trouble!?! What do you guys Think!?!? We Really need to Win!!?! Thoughts!?!?! ;) COYR!!!!!!
PokingFun Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 I think we really need to win but I won't be there because I am not an uber fan. COYR!! :-)
acersaint Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 It's winning the game in hand that's the target. We need to put the pressure on the other teams. Right attitude from the team plus the fantastic support they will get from the travelling Saints will bring the right result. But I agree it's where we are on the last day of the season that really counts. I really feel very positive for the first time in several seasons. The pieces are falling into place. NA is doing the business and I can even forgive him his, at times, silly rhetoric.
bender Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 Even if we draw, were 1 point off 2nd with 2 games in hand. Saturdays Huddersfield result and tonights result have left this on a plate for us. So lets thump Charlton and steam into 2nd. We really want to demotivate the chasing pack even more by winning in style.
sussexsaint Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 Not confident we will win tomorrow, but I am confident of the number 2 slot
Eaststander Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 Or it could put the pressure on. The mind set changes once we have caught up and we are being chased. I always thought and knew March would be the key month. The key will be to keep the momentum going, a win will do that, but so too will an away draw. A good result ahead of 10 day break will be good. Especially as we seem to struggle after a break so far this season.
LVSaint Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 Frustratingly, we have to wait 11 days before our next game, by which time Posh will have played twice! We need to win. All our games crammed in at the end of the season is for the birds!
Dellman Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 So we win and go second (hopes) but before we play again Peterboro will have plasyed twice, so we're not second for long
dubsaint Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 we have to win ,go second and then have those around us chasing us.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 Need to win and win again - even Brighton might start to choke at the run-in and we could go top at the death.
sad saints fan Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 So we win and go second (hopes) but before we play again Peterboro will have plasyed twice, so we're not second for long Unless peterborough get beat twice.
Liquidshokk Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 Not confident we will win tomorrow, but I am confident of the number 2 slot Charlton are freefalling, we'll be fine I reckon
Saint_Jonny Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 Need to win and win again - even Brighton might start to choke at the run-in and we could go top at the death. Wouldnt that be sweet? Saints doing a Seb Vettel, only leading the table once throughout the whole season, when it matters, at the end - dreamland!
Toadhall Saint Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 Need to win and win again - even Brighton might start to choke at the run-in and we could go top at the death. That's what I've been thinking for a while - we still have to play them - a couple of draws for them and a loss to us could make things very interesting.
NickG Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 I wouldn't be too downhearted if we got a fighting draw. agree - win at home and draw away should be more than enough. To be ahead of Hudders and Peterboro' with games in hand would surely be a psychological boost for us and a blow for them. Also agree with this - think it will have a big impact on all the teams at the top to see the big name, favorite for promotion, with biggest squad, in form and in position - with games in hand
Right sider Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 To be honest tonights result has given us room to **** up one more game. Can still get 2nd if we win a game in hand. Just have to get more points than Posh, thats all.
Goalie66 Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 Well I have been to see Saints at Charlton twice before.. Back in 1964 and we won 5-2 and 1977 when won 3-1. I am going tomorrow so fear not. We will win
David Strover Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 It will be interesting to see if our attitude is a fragile as some believe. This is our big chance to make a statement. Will the players wobble and play like they know there is expectation on them? It could be very interesting and hopefully not a sign of how we will play should we only make the play-offs. Ulp, me no like. I get nervous enough midseason in a meaningless fixture!
NickG Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 run in league table, here :- http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/runin.html now has us promoted with games to spare based on recent form!
Leslie Charteris Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 Charlton are in pretty poor form at the moment, I hope we don't get hit on the rebound - but I think we will win this one 3-1.
sandwichsaint Posted 21 March, 2011 Posted 21 March, 2011 Still think we shouldn't be targeting anything less than a win tomorrow. For my money after watching tonight MK home is a much tougher game, they really seem to have come on this season..... Thoughts BeN?
hamster Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 I shall be happy if we maintain a run of clean sh1ts
SaintNeil90 Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 Even if we draw, were 1 point off 2nd with 2 games in hand. Saturdays Huddersfield result and tonights result have left this on a plate for us. So lets thump Charlton and steam into 2nd. We really want to demotivate the chasing pack even more by winning in style. If we draw then we will be 2 points off 2nd. We are currently 3 points behind Huddersfield
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 Once again the door of opportunity opens. So many times we have failed to walk through.
70's Mike Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 A win would be nice , a draw not to bad only time we have to go second as at the final whistle of last game.
dune Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 It's not a must win game. Of course i'll be disapointed if we lose but it wouldn't be the end of the world.
saint lard Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 (edited) Sincerley hope we can capitalise on others failings. For once i would be happy with a scrappy one nil victory with us not firing on all cylinders. Saying that, we have not been firing on all cylinders for a considerable time, yet picking up results. Edited 22 March, 2011 by saint lard
alpine_saint Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 Well observed! (Although if we don't win it will not be the end of the world) I disagree. This is our time. Time to seize the moment. Put ourselves well and truly in the driving seat. If we throw the chance away, big questions about the teams mental toughness to see this through get even louder.
alpine_saint Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 Once again the door of opportunity opens. So many times we have failed to walk through. Nutshell. Still get very angry when I think of that Derby home game in the playoff year, though that was as much to do with p*ss-poor management as the team not turning up.
Appy Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 I shall be happy if we maintain a run of clean sh1ts That should be our end of season motto. Clean sh1t for the Saints!

Great ! Lets tell the Football League to stop the season, its all over, Football365 and NickG have spoken.

If we throw the chance away, big questions about the teams mental toughness to see this through get even louder. From you. Great that'll be fun for us all.
NickG Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 win home, draw away - would give 85, hard to beat. Would be great for our confidence, and maybe knock others, if we get 2nd tonight.
NickG Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 Great ! Lets tell the Football League to stop the season, its all over, Football365 and NickG have spoken. It is great. You would soon be whining if current form showed us behind! Season is 46 games, can't find that table for you.
dune Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 Whatever happens tonight we're in a strong position and now is the time when we've got banish the whingey negativity and get behind the team every game for 90 minutes. That's what good supporters do - they support the team.
Huntingdon Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 The largest bookies price available for us to get promoted is 1.28, except Betfair 1.44 if anyone's interested Considering our form, our games in hand, and our run in - 1.44 is a cracking bet
harwellsaint Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 I'm Looking Forward to it Lots too Ben Mate! ;) Should Be good and I'll be There. Hope to see Loads of you saints Fans there!?!! Hopefully there Won't be any Trouble!?! What do you guys Think!?!? We Really need to Win!!?! a1ex2001 Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 Not too bothered about tonights result to be honest, I think it's important we keep scoring and ideally we don't loose but we have plenty of games to over come any blip. Would however be nice as you say to go second with games in hand and really apply some pressure to the teams around us Huddersfield I think are ripe to crack and Peterborough have a dodgy run in them just waiting to come out!

Harry Faz Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 Once again the door of opportunity opens. So many times we have failed to walk through. This for me ........we usually do things the hard way, hoping we can take advantage, but fearful we wont.
hutch Posted 22 March, 2011 Posted 22 March, 2011 Unless peterborough get beat twice. If they draw twice, we'll still be above them with 3 games in hand if we win tonight.
