Bailey Posted 19 March, 2011 Posted 19 March, 2011 (edited) Mentioned it on the post-match thread, but thought it was worth its own. A few friends/members of the Liebherr family were in attendance today. A good sign? Still behind Saints? In Cortese we trust, perhaps? Edited 20 March, 2011 by Bailey
SuperSAINT Posted 19 March, 2011 Posted 19 March, 2011 Never a bad sign, Bailey. Cheers for posting that.
niceandfriendly Posted 19 March, 2011 Posted 19 March, 2011 Good to hear. Hope they heard the Marcus Liebherr chants, I'm sure Nicola will have pointed them out.
NickG Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 I sit not far from there and unfortunately I didn't notice any Markus chants yesterday - maybe just missed them
Kingsland Red Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 I sit not far from there and unfortunately I didn't notice any Markus chants yesterday - maybe just missed them 'Liebherr Wonderland (One Markus Liebherr) ' was sung a fair bit in the second half Nick G.
jam Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 good I hope they heard it, (I didn't ) It was hard to hear the words 'Markus Liebherr' from where I was sat.
NickG Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 glad its not just my ears but they are not great! - too much loud music!
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 glad its not just my ears but they are not great! - too much loud music! Don't think Stuart Dennis screaming like a banshee helps much either
Saint_clark Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 The Cortese chant is taking off as well. I'm glad more of our fans are listening to the club rather than the media b*llocks.
The9 Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 'Liebherr Wonderland (One Markus Liebherr) ' was sung a fair bit in the second half Nick G. I could hear "One Markus Liebherr, there's only one Markus Liebherr" but not "Liebherr Wonderland" from the front of the Northam.
Saint_clark Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 I could hear "One Markus Liebherr, there's only one Markus Liebherr" but not "Liebherr Wonderland" from the front of the Northam. It's the same chant...
Ricky Redstripe Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 The Cortese chant is taking off as well. I'm glad more of our fans are listening to the club rather than the media b*llocks. What chant is that then? I haven't heard that one. I heard the Marcus Liebherr one though, and I sit in front of the directors box.
Saint_clark Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 What chant is that then? I haven't heard that one. I heard the Marcus Liebherr one though, and I sit in front of the directors box. Cortese, whoa, Cortese, whoa, He comes from Italy, He f*cking hates Pompey
Dalek2003 Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 The Liebherr's are committed to getting this club safely into the Premier. I am sure they are determined to meet that challenge, then we may see stage 2. Marcus and the family are not publicity seekers but you can bet that they are committed.
norwaysaint Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Why are people putting an apostrophe in Liebherrs? I can understand missing one out where it belongs, but why go to the trouble of adding extra ones? Bad punctuation is fair enough, extra punctuation is just weird.
Bath Saint Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Is it because they are all grocers? Or should that be grocer's? Or grocers'?
Saint_clark Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Singing about a CE should be banned. Singing about a Church of England?
hypochondriac Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Singing about a CE should be banned. CEO I presume and I agree, it's embarrassing.
Saint_clark Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 CEO I presume and I agree, it's embarrassing. Why? They've done more for the club than the players have and we sing about them all the time.
um pahars Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 The Cortese chant is taking off as well. I'm glad more of our fans are listening to the club rather than the media b*llocks. Cringetastic!!!! Met with much guffaws from around where we sit when it was attempted yesterday. You weren't the group in the beer garden of the barge In Peterborough trying to get it going were you?????
VectisSaint Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Cringetastic!!!! Met with much guffaws from around where we sit when it was attempted yesterday. You weren't the group in the beer garden of the barge In Peterborough trying to get it going were you????? As you say cringetastic (assume thats a bit like cringeworthy), especially as the last lame line has to mention Pompey. We must be the only club in the world that mentions our little rivals in chants more than we mention our own name, sometimes it really is embarrassing. Is that the best we can come up with? He comes from Italy and he hates Pompey, pathetic.
aintforever Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Singing about a Chief Exec is embarrassing. Who next, the marketing manager, groundsman?

Saint_clark Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 I recognise one of his daughters (Katarina?) but couldn't say who the others are.
Crab Lungs Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Cringetastic!!!! Met with much guffaws from around where we sit when it was attempted yesterday. You weren't the group in the beer garden of the barge In Peterborough trying to get it going were you????? In which case, it must be just as cringeworthy to hear grown men sing about 11 people running around in shorts as well...
saintjay77 Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 I could hear the Leibherr chant on the TV but couldnt tell who it was for. "Theres only oooooooooone brbrbr brbrbrbr, only ooooooooone brbrbr brbrbrbr, walking along, singing along, walking in a brbrbr wonderland!!" Suprised to see so many on here sitting in front of the DB. Small world n all that.
VectisSaint Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Singing about a Chief Exec is embarrassing. Who next, the marketing manager, groundsman? Why not? Here goes, sticking to the theme We've got the best pitch in the land We've got the best pitch in the land We've got the best pitch in the land And our groundsman hates ****in Pompey
aintforever Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 The catering staff woooa The catering staff woooa They serve me my coffee They ****ng hate pompey
saintjay77 Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Why not? Here goes, sticking to the theme We've got the best pitch in the land We've got the best pitch in the land We've got the best pitch in the land And our groundsman hates ****in Pompey TBF I think it would be brilliant if we picked a different member of staff every home game and got a massive chant on. Not so much the top members of staff but the ones that are on the front line dealing with our fans week in week out. Imagine working in the club shop or on the gates and hearing the the fans singing your name round the stadium?
Fan The Flames Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 The coach driver wooa The coach driver wooa He's faster than James Hunt He thinks Pompey are ****s
scott_saints Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 The bog cleaner, woooa The bog cleaner, woooa She gets f**k all money She f**king hates Pompey
saintmatt Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 I could hear the Leibherr chant on the TV but couldnt tell who it was for. "Theres only oooooooooone brbrbr brbrbrbr, only ooooooooone brbrbr brbrbrbr, walking along, singing along, walking in a brbrbr wonderland!!" I've often thought this may be a problem - we need a new Markus chant where his name is clearly heard! Markus Liebherr, Markus Leibherr, Our saviour and our King, Hear the Southampton sing, Markus Liebherr (to the tune of Man Utd's Viva Ronaldo)
um pahars Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 In which case, it must be just as cringeworthy to hear grown men sing about 11 people running around in shorts as well... Methinks you are somewhat confusing the tribal and passionate chants of football supporters towards their team (however illogical they may seem at times to others), with the nonsencical and somewhat cringetastic chants about an employee (including a slightly noddytastic dig at our near neighbours).
Crab Lungs Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Losing away to walsall is embarrassing but singing about the man who instigated the saviour of our club, i don't think so. The difference is, he deserves it. This.
hypochondriac Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Losing away to walsall is embarrassing but singing about the man who instigated the saviour of our club, i don't think so. The difference is, he deserves it. Many agree with my OPINION that singing about a CEO is embarrassing whoever it is.
Thedelldays Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 what is a CEO..and do we actually have one at saints..?
aintforever Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Many agree with my OPINION that singing about a CEO is embarrassing whoever it is. Think that's the general consensus. That's why only a hand full of mongs in the Northam sung it and no one joined in.
Gemmel Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Nice to see Cortese welcoming and smiling with the family. Certainly doesn't look like two parties embroiled in a legal dispute as cliamed by leftback
dune Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 The Cortese chant is taking off as well. I'm glad more of our fans are listening to the club rather than the media b*llocks. The most cringeworthy song ever.
saintjay77 Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Many agree with my OPINION that singing about a CEO is embarrassing whoever it is. We used to sing about Lowe!!!
bpsaint Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 The most cringeworthy song ever. More cringeworthy than singing "we are going up" when theres still 11 games to go,or that bloody "EIEIEIO,up the football league we go" song?
hypochondriac Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 We used to sing about Lowe!!! There are of course exceptions tough I don't plan to be swinging Cortese off anything any time soon
Fan The Flames Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 More cringeworthy than singing "we are going up" when theres still 11 games to go,or that bloody "EIEIEIO,up the football league we go" song? Yes
Michelle Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 It's the same chant... Err, no it's not. "One Markus Liebherr, there's only one Markus Liebherr, one Markus Liebherr, there's only one Markus Liebherr" is different to "There's only one Markus Liebherr, one Markus Liebherr, walking along, singing a song, walking in a Liebherr wonderland".
