Saint Charlie Posted 19 March, 2011 Posted 19 March, 2011 Nice to see a consistent threat from corners and free kicks, have scored from a few lately. Obviously some good work being done on the training ground!
Legod Third Coming Posted 19 March, 2011 Posted 19 March, 2011 Totally, this was one area where Pardew failed us miserably. We won countless corners and never used them.

Obviously some good work being done on the training ground! Theres definitely a set piece where AL takes the corner short to AOC eh back heels it to AL to get space in the box. We've tried it a few times recently, and scored from it Vs posh I think

We've tried it a few times recently, and scored from it Vs posh I think Made a right balls up of it today though. They've clearly been doing a lot of work on the set plays, which has been rewarded with goals. They seem quite creative as well, which (for me) adds another level of interest.
saints-cris Posted 19 March, 2011 Posted 19 March, 2011 Agreed, I've lost count of how many we've scored recently. Definately something Adkins has delivered and there definately creative. The Hammond goal against P'boro was one that springs to mind. Another outlet of goals for us.
niceandfriendly Posted 19 March, 2011 Posted 19 March, 2011 I think Andy Crosby has a lot to do with some of them, Adkins has mentioned him a few times regarding set pieces we've scored from.
Kingsland Codger Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Think back to the days of the Wise-and-Quashie-Comedy-Corner-Capers and look at us know. A world of difference.
Thedelldays Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Who remembers when we had no hope from a corner??
up and away Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Who remembers when we had no hope from a corner?? No hope! As Kingsland Codger pointed out, I was more worried about the opposition scoring from our corners it got so bad under Redknapp. I still cannot understand that to this day, we had the biggest team in the league and only Dennis Wise was worth a **** at heading the ball. Regularly our corners ended up an attacking opportunity on our goal, used to give me nightmares.
saints-cris Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Who remembers when we had no hope from a corner?? Most of my Saints supporting life ! Claus and Benali coming up at corners.. what chance did we really stand?
Fan The Flames Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Theres definitely a set piece where AL takes the corner short to AOC eh back heels it to AL to get space in the box. We've tried it a few times recently, and scored from it Vs posh I think Nearly pulled if off against Man U. We went something like 300 corners under Strachan between scoring from one.
Under Weststand Posted 20 March, 2011 Posted 20 March, 2011 Really good to see a bit of ingenuity from set pieces even when it doesn't work every time, also good to see some good end product from them at last. We also seem to be alert around the box to pick up the 2nd ball when cleared & keep the pressure on.
Saint Charlie Posted 20 March, 2011 Author Posted 20 March, 2011 Also worth pointing out that Chamberlain's corner delivery has been excellent recently.
