Badger Posted 20 March, 2011 Share Posted 20 March, 2011 I'm aware the designs will have been confirmed a while back, but I'd like to see the following: Superb. Yet again I suspect Gecko has designed something better than we will end up with from Umbro. No need however for the red block on the back of the home kit if the lettering/number is black. Away shirt excellent. Gecko, get emailing the club and send them a couple of your badge designs whilst at it.

With all respect to Gecko's obvious talents that kit was designed a while back by Patrick, only the panel on the back and collar are different. And there's nothing wrong with the badge, imo. Whatever we end up with it is likely to be a reworking of something that has gone before.

I know it's the negative of the Ajax kit and it could be argued that is was a progression of the previous kit, but it was a great kit that could do with a revival. Not all of the unusual designs have been hit, the all red kit, Pony and Hummels were awful imo.

doggface Posted 26 March, 2011 Share Posted 26 March, 2011 They have 6 current templates in use - but only the round neck Saints away style (used by lots of others inc Forest, West Brom/Swansea A and Northern Ireland) and the striped kits used by Sunderland / West Brom / Rangers away weren't already in use before this season. The Man City kit, as well as Universitario, are just the 2010 England away shirt. Arguably the V-neck shirt used by Wales, Swansea H and Sunderland and Blackburn A is the 2009 v-neck collar on the 2009 England shirt model. The Rangers / Blackburn H is the recent Tailored By England home kit, as is the Saints/Peru sash. The Saints shirt is "bespoke", other than nicking the whole sash design concept from an existing Umbro Teamwear kit and the whole Tailored By look from the previous England home shirt just like those above. The Hearts kit is the Winchester (Wrexham) Teamwear shirt with a contrasting middle panel. ALL the Umbro deals are 1 year, but they'll still only be rotating 3 of those shirts out of use this year (and they've already got Universitario wearing the 2009 for another year). (WARNING: GEEK ALERT) Hi The 9, Finally got round to replying… Umbro do have more than 6 templates in use for UK club teams, the ones I can think of including: Rangers, The West Brom (H), Saints (H), Saints (A and many other clubs), Sunderland (H), Sunderland (A) is the Stowe, Hearts (Winchester) (H), Lincoln (H) & Linclon (A) is the Veloce. Yes Man City Home & Away are based on the current england away- but both collars are different as are the pinstripe front panels which means only the sleeves and panel construction are the same. If international teams and other world club sides then even more templates. Yes you are right, the Universitario is england away this season I forgot. The V neck shirt you refer to is nothing like the 09/10 england shirt IMHO, they are the teamwear Stowe I think. The Rangers home is basically the 09-10 world cup England home with different arm construction. The blackburn home is not based on any England shirt but the Sunderland home shirt with halves instead of the west brom/sunderland/rangers away woven stripe. construction of the front panel is a little different mind. I completely disagree with the comments about our home kit. The shirt is 100% bespoke for us. Our shirt was inspired by our first ever shirt rather than a rip off of the Vasco Da Gama teamwear shirt. As I said, I own both as prior to saints switching to the sash I ordered the vasco for my 5-a-side team to wear. It is totally different – the cut, the construction, the sleeves, the collar, the sash is printed not stitched and the other way round all different. I think Umbro have done a sterling job so far and are one of if not the best in the industry right now – their crests are the best in the business no doubt. Like England, Man city is a premium account of theirs, they do some fantastic retro leisurewear which they do not do for us! Check it out online. What will they come up with this year for us? Not too keen on this years goalkeeper template if this is to be it! Cheers
SuperMikey Posted 26 March, 2011 Share Posted 26 March, 2011 I'm aware the designs will have been confirmed a while back, but I'd like to see the following: I f*cking love those designs. Would be great to see something like that for next year.
benjii Posted 26 March, 2011 Share Posted 26 March, 2011 Not sure about the asymmetric colouring on the cuffs myself but then I am a traditionalist when it comes to collars and cuffs.
Griffo Posted 26 March, 2011 Share Posted 26 March, 2011 Collars should not be on football shirts. They look weird.
Chin Strain Posted 26 March, 2011 Share Posted 26 March, 2011 i shoudlnt but i actually like those esp the away also like the sponsor on the back Like the kits, but having sponsors names on the back is very, very lower league IMHO so I'd rather we didn't go down that route
Bailey Posted 26 March, 2011 Share Posted 26 March, 2011 Awesome as always Gecko, fair play. I'd happily buy both of those, they're brilliant designs.
SuperSAINT Posted 26 March, 2011 Share Posted 26 March, 2011 Gecko's design's are always fantastic, but that home-shirt above might top the lot. Brilliant.
Rebel Posted 26 March, 2011 Share Posted 26 March, 2011 The new shirts were signed-off before we had a new sponsor so it will be interesting to see how they fit their logo on the design. A white panel with a red logo perhaps on red and white stripes?
Saint Garrett Posted 26 March, 2011 Share Posted 26 March, 2011 I'm sure they would have had ongoing discussions with the new sponsor while they were making the shirt.
