saints-cris Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 Norwich well and truly after him at the moment it seems, have had bids rejected. On their OS. Gwon Norwich !
sandwichsaint Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 Isn't there a window on? Can't see P'boro loaning him out (!) but would be nice for us!
Thedelldays Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 £3m and people reckon we should spend that sort of money..?
Charlie Wayman Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 This is fanciful rubbish. Ferguson won't let him go in the close season as he'll be needed in Division 2 next season to keep them up
Nexstar Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 This is fanciful rubbish. Ferguson won't let him go in the close season as he'll be needed in Division 2 next season to keep them up They may need him, but how much does Barry Fry need £3m for a championship level player?
NickG Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 shows how stupid the idiots are saying we will regret not signing him! A team in 2nd in CCC, good chance of premiership next season, offering £3m cannot sign him. BUT Cortese and Adkins been criticised on here for not getting him to come to a team below Peterborough and their direct rivals for promotion!

Jimmy_D Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 There's always the chance the speculation and interest will cause him to not be completely in the game tonight... would be handy if he doesn't play to his best, we could do with posh dropping points.

benjii Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 I've just seen him at Longstanton International Airport. Mind you, he could just be visiting the spice museum.

sambosa75 Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 so i suppose the most humane way to kill a bird of prey would be death by firing squad...

Jesus Reigned Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 Am I the only one who thinks Mackail-Smith walks like he's sh!t himself?
Saint_Jonny Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 (edited) Am I the only one who thinks Mackail-Smith walks like he's sh!t himself? Hes got long hair. Dudes with long hair are automatically queer. Hes had too much man-length in his poo shoot. That is why he walks like that. Edited 15 March, 2011 by Saint_Jonny

Gemmel Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/peterborough_united/9425263.stm No deal. Mackail ****ed off

Mackail ****ed off Lets hope he throws a Puncheon like hissy fit or goes on strike like Jones did. Fair play to posh though, they know they're in with a shout of promtion so there holding onto him (and who can blame them). In the summer he'll be sold but it's nice to see a club make a player stick to his contract in this day an age. Edited 15 March, 2011 by doddisalegend
Dark Munster Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/peterborough_united/9425263.stm No deal. Mackail ****ed off Can't think why. "If you're offered a better job with far, far more money and playing at the top level, it's every footballer's dream," he [Posh's director of football Barry Fry] said. "We've stopped him fulfilling that dream five or six times."

I really can't see that it will make all that much difference to the player. He's got 11 games, maybe 13 or 14 left. After that he's been promised his exit visa, can't see him turning *****y,it's the way it's done in all leagues apart from the UK of course. No loan windows anywhere else.

Exactly. Play another few matches at Posh, gain promotion through the play offs, with an Old Trafford final, then be on your way, son.
SamyCM Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 As Fry said he will go in the summer, think we could have pushed for him in the January window. He is scoring for fun at the moment and if a team who could go into the premiership want him, I think he could have done for us.

By the same logic we should have tried signing Andy Carroll in January. Or David Luiz.
Smirking_Saint Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 "but Norwich are the sixth different club to make a bid and we have rejected them all after talking it over with the chairman. " Barry Fry How do you know we didn't bid for him ?? Some absolute morons about if they really believed we were going to spend big money in January.
Joe Kirkup Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 I was talking to some Posh fans in the pub at Peterborough the other week and they didn't rate him. They said that Posh create loads of chances and CMS miisses far more than he scores. They thinbk in a higher league with a team that doesn't create as many he will struggle because of his poor goal ratio....

Well I guess they won't miss him when he's gone then will they.Every striker misses more than he scores otherwise there would either be zero chances or 15 goals a game. You only have to look at all the players that the football cognoscenti at SMS didn't rate to know that by and large football fans know absolutely f*ck all about players. SamyCM Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 By the same logic we should have tried signing Andy Carroll in January. Or David Luiz. MS isn't quite as expensive as them... also neither of them are 'scoring for fun' either. MS just at the time could have been a player if we had stumped up the cash we could have purchased. Anyway doesn't really matter anymore.
aintforever Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 Exactly. Play another few matches at Posh, gain promotion through the play offs, with an Old Trafford final, then be on your way, son. The most important thing for Mackaill-Smith now is to not get injured, wether Peterborough get promoted or not makes no difference to his career from now on.
S-Clarke Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 He seems a decent pro - so I can't see him handing in a transfer request or anything, so I'm sure he'll see out the season there, score 30+ goals and then move on in the summer. Hopefully to us!

NickG Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 guess he is not sulking too much to score tonight then
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 Mikail-Smith is so hacked off that he has scored the first of 3 so far tonight. Peterboro are FLYING, they are free scoring and tight at the back all of a sudden......Saints had better be up for it.
SamyCM Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 We signed the leagues top two scorers last season. Trying to do it every season might be a bit over the top. I'm a bit embarrassed people think we can get him. They're our rivals, like it or not. If we go up maybe we could, but in January there was no chance and talk of it now is as likely as us loaning them Lallana. The think the point of thread was Norwich having a loan bid rejected and would have been nice for us if he left with the form he is on.
sfc1971 Posted 16 March, 2011 Posted 16 March, 2011 Rumours all over saying CMS will be a Norwich player by Monday ? is it any coincidence that Mr Fry made the clubs accounts public Last Tues with them running at quite a loss with Gates down 2000, Either Fry is trying to get more bums on seats or CMS is off on loan ???

But why would Peterborough autodestruct their bid for promotion with 10 games of the season left? Promotion would bring them increased revenues and they can still sell CMS a few days after the season ends anyway.

How many of their goals are scored/assisted by CMS, they've scored loads recently and maybe 1 in 3 or 4 is scored by him. It seems to me that Boyd has been scoring a lot (and he looked class against us as well, better all rounder than CMS on the day I thought) so they might gamble of getting the money in now. Obviously this wouldn't help us much if they carry on winning games 2-0 instead of 3-0

Would we consider letting Ox or Lallana go out on loan right now ?? No we wouldn't, we're just a handful of games away from the end of the season, waiting on won't change the value of the player anyway ,it won't happen.

I presume Norwich would have to pay out a MASSIVE loan fee to take him now, for Peterborough to even consider it. Looks like P'Boro have rejected it anyway from my understanding but if N'aarch go back then who knows. N'aarch are looking to cement their play-off place so are desperate.

Norwich are in automatic and looking good Leeds are in a playoff place and Millwall not far behind! Seems the difference between Div 2 and 3 is not that great after all! Agreed little chance of a deal for CMS before the summer!
Saint_Ash Posted 16 March, 2011 Posted 16 March, 2011 It'll be a case of Norwich paying a large fee and another player on loan for the rest of the season. Surman anyone? Be hard to take if he helps them gain promotion!

Anyone who's seen Peterborough recently can tell you their movement is excellent and he's the most mobile of all their attackers. It's often the space he creates by shifting about and pulling defenders with him that is exploited by their other attackers to score their goals. As a comparison, where would we be without Lallana holding up the ball for the rest of the team to join the attack, but how many of our goals does he actually score ?

Plus CMS is a very solid player who is also extremely quick, doesn't get barged off the ball easily and stays upright most of the time. If I were a Posh fan I'd be seriously ****ed off if they let him go with 10 games left to play and all to play for.We know he's going after the season ends anyway.....
