angelman Posted 14 March, 2011 Share Posted 14 March, 2011 Got me thinking......now we are 3 and a bit years down the line, would anyone have preferred SISU's takeover to what has panned out? We might well have been in a higher division, which does count for a lot, but I do get the feeling that we have got a certain our perspective back in line (albeit being the big spenders in this league) and have a clear vision for the future. of course things can change, and probably will, but..... I believe the rumours at the time were that a worrying proportion of the SISU money were going to end up in the bank accounts of Hone & Dulieu. It was one of the few things that Lowe, Wilde and Crouch seemed united on. I was saying all along that the only way the club was going to move forward was that these 3 had to have anything to do with the club. Admin was deeply worrying times but the boardroom egos ultimately meant it was the only way out of it
Colinjb Posted 14 March, 2011 Share Posted 14 March, 2011 The locals are restless up here. They thought results were really bad but equally they feel that the board are giving their managers absolutely no support whatsoever. Conor Thomas is a particular example of this, a youngster whoi actually went to school with a few of the youth players I currently coach. (Having seen him train when he was a 14 year old, yeah... he was always destined for big things.) He was earmarked as their future yet they couldn't even keep him up to the point of becoming a first team regular. SISU have talked big but are now pinching pennies big time. As a hedgefund they never had the cash to really push on long term and now they are paying for it. Thank heavens for Nicola Cortese introducing Markus to us. fish fingers Posted 14 March, 2011 Share Posted 14 March, 2011 From the Football365 mailbox from a Coventry fan today Dearest 365, It is very rare nowadays that emails are published from us lesser teams in the Championship, let alone from my club Coventry City. However this morning I feel compelled (to bore you and) get a rant off my chest. Today Coventry sacked their manager. Hardly headline stuff to the plastic/Irish/WUM contingent however I have to say this is absolute travesty. Aidy took over a dreadful team, and was given a grand total of zero to spend. Considering, I think he has made us a lot tougher to beat and added a steel that has been missing from many a season. Our league position is indicative of the money we have spent on the squad not the endeavours of the manager/coaching staff etc. You can't polish a turd springs to mind. Sisu have completely bled us dry to the extent any one with half a modicum of ability is sold the second they look like they can earn us a penny or two. Fox, Dann, Best were all taken away and now we look set to lose the best keeper outside of the Premiership in the summer for nothing due to their inability to offer him a new contract. We will also lose Gunnarson, King, Mcsheffrey, Eastwood in the same manner. To top this all off the best prospect we have ever had was sold to Liverpool on deadline day for a measly £2m before he had even played a game for us (Conor Thomas for those that are still reading!) Rather than blood him through and sell him for the 5-10m he may become they snapped the hands off the first offer that was wafted under their noses. SISU, you are ruining my football club. It is time for you to step aside not another manager.
saintfully Posted 14 March, 2011 Share Posted 14 March, 2011 Not that anyone should care but I'm glad Aidy Boothroyd has been sacked because I think he's a jumped up little pri.ck who gets teams playing anti-football. While I accept that 'Route-1 plus muscle/cheating/organisation' can be effective, its hardly rocket science. He always acted like he invented it - Graham Taylor was doing it years ago and Im sure others before him. Small rant over.
rallyboy Posted 14 March, 2011 Share Posted 14 March, 2011 went off Coventry when they signed a fully paid up member of the sex offender's register - was it 13 previous offences? Everyone deserves a 14th chance. Didn't like them much before to be honest, but if clubs stood together and said they wouldn't sign some of the convicts currently in the game it would be a positive move.
