don't sign him, he loves skates! ;)

But he would welcome a move to Pompey, with the club now viewed as upwardly mobile after the takeover on Wednesday.

Howard is fully aware of the feel-good factor generated by Cotterill among his squad last season, as the Blues survived in the Championship.

Who on here had a son who knows him? was it Derry? Any thoughts, would be good to start freshening up the squad

These rumours are just that. I've got my son to brief Brian re Saint's attitude to breaking confidentiality/media comments. If Saints are doing anything in that direction, as Brian is keen to join us, it would be a surprise if he or anybody connected to him makes any premature comments. His contract has two years to run so there is no pressure on him to do anything although it is obvious that Reading's mix it style doesn't suit his. He'd fit in well at Swansea though.

I'd be very disappointed in young Mr Howard if he joined the Skates - after all he is supposed to be a Saints fan! We don't want another Darren Anderton do we!

I have a feeling he will stay at Reading - they will probably lose Long, Kebe and Mills this summer so will look a very different team next season. Howard will beb a key player for them next season. And to be honest their fine end to the season and good form owed more to Shane Long hitting a purple patch than anything else. Before that they looked more like relegation fodder!

thanks.

Will wait and see if Adkins wants him, would be surprised if went for him as well as Cork, if Cork is true and successful bid.

He'll get some serious banter from me if he joins Pompey, I forgave him for puking all over my room when we were watching fun house when we were like 10... dont think I could forgive him for this ;-)

Howard said: ‘I’ve heard the rumours and have been getting phone calls about it.

‘People have been asking: “Are you going to Portsmouth?”.

‘The season has just finished and I go on holiday on Monday. That’s all I know at the moment.

‘I’ve got a year left at Reading but it’s been a bit frustrating and I want to play a bit more.

‘I played against Portsmouth towards the end of the season and did really well.

‘I know Steve Cotterill is planning some good things down there.

‘The new owner has come in and they are looking to rebuild.

‘If I wasn’t in the plans at Reading I would be looking to do something like that.

‘I’d definitely be interested in talking to the club.

‘They were in the Premier League not so long ago.

‘I have quite a good record of reaching the play-offs recently and nearly getting promoted.

‘It’s a club I would look to get to and would have a chance of going up.

‘I know Steve Cotterill’s background, although I don’t know him personally.

‘I know Ian Woan from Swindon and there are a few lads I know at the club who have said good things about it.

‘If there was an interest I’d definitely be interested in talking to Portsmouth.

If he didn't make those comments would he prejudice a move? No.

he and his agent are quite clearly touting for business, so to speak. In short if you are not in demand (looks like we don't fancy him) you look to create demand (as he clearly wants out) by undertaking good PR.

‘People have been asking: “Are you going to convert to the dark side?”.

‘The season has just finished and I go on holiday on Monday. All I know at the moment is Pompey are fish fornicating ****ers.

‘I’ve got a year left at Reading but it’s been a bit frustrating and I want to play a bit more, but not for those cvnts.

‘I played against the skates towards the end of the season and left my foot in a few times

‘I know Steve Cotterill is planning to go on solent and say how plucky Pompey are beating the odds, but the fact remains they don't have a pot to **** in and still train at Eastleigh.

‘Another dodgy new owner has come in and they are looking to launder mafia funds yet again.

‘If I wasn’t in the plans at Reading I would be looking to move to a proper football club, not the 2nd best club in Hampshire.

‘I’d definitely have no interest in talking to those joey's

‘They were in the Premier League not so long ago which was a ****ing miracle.

‘I have quite a good record of reaching the play-offs recently and nearly getting promoted so don't want to **** that up.

‘It’s a club I would not look to get to if they were the only club in England, they would have no chance of going up.

‘I know Steve Cotterill’s background of hoofball at Burnley, although I don’t know him personally thank god. He sounds like a miserable ****.

‘I know Ian Woan as he always seemed to score against Saints and there are a few lads I know at the club. I say few as they basically they barely have any players. They have nothing good to say about it as it's the ars*hole of Hampshire.

‘If there was an interest I’d rather retire than go play for those filthy skate ****ers.

I wonder if Clotterill will still be in charge after the new owners have taken stock of the situation there.

Solent played an interview with howard whereby he stated he had no preference to which club he joined as long as they played nice football and had ambition to reach the PL. Solent tried to make out he had no preference between Saints and Poopey but you didnt actually hear the question given to howard so it would have been more of a general question about what type of club would interest him. He is not going to say he is happy with either us or the skates because if neither move came off then any other team looks like 3rd choice.

He's hardly going commit himself to a general question from a radio station, he is keeping his options open and is only repeating what has been previously reported. I did hear the solent report and apart from saying he had a few good years in him to help a club into the Premier he said nothing of note.
