exit2 Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Sorry if posted before but anyone heard about Brian Howard Set to be signed by us on loan till the end of season, with a permy move in place? Deal to be done this week
Thedelldays Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 would be amazed stranger things have happened to this crazy club
norwaysaint Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 This proves it's true beyond a doubt. This proves it's true beyond a doubt.
VectisSaint Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Done deal according to Wikipedia!!! You could have made your edits a bit more convincing, some capital letters perhaps.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 How old is he now? Where is he? Yes I know I could find out but I'm tired. Guess he's struggled since his excellent Barnsley form. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Brian+Howard+footballer
Jez Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 2 goals in 46 games for his current club. Doesn't sound many! I remember when he was good.
Nexstar Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 2 goals in 46 games for his current club. Doesn't sound many! I remember when he was good. Morgan has 1 goal in 91 games. Is he not good?
scott_saints Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Morgan has 1 goal in 91 games. Is he not good? That really is s**t. Defensive/holding midfielder or not.....that's s**t.
thorpie the sinner Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 I thought Brian Stock would be a good call? Stocky would be here in 2 hours flat if we wanted him, we don't seem to unfortunately! Mistake imo as he would be an excellent addition!
capitalsaint Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Saw him play for Reading in the final game of last year's season and was very impressed. Excellent passer.
beatlesaint Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 He hasn't been playing in L1. Why do people obsess over stats without having watched the player? Maybe he lost form, maybe fitness, maybe injuries, maybe out of favour. All players have these stages in their career. He's local, would give everything for the club and be playing at a level below his ability. Would be a great signing. agreed but I bet it doesn't happen :-(
derry Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Brian Howard rang my son this morning, as I got him to send Brian a text last night which he responded to this morning. Firstly this site is grossly premature. That is not to say it can't happen but it is a long way from where it is implied here. I think he has had an injury earlier in the season and as Reading are doing well has to wait his chance.

wild-saint Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Ok great so now when NA signs someone we have never heard off there will be a massive wave of disappointment and comments that either a) saints wont spend the appropriate cash or b) NA doesnt have the gravitas to attract a face. Add to the fact that the fans will turn on him at home after 14 minutes of his debut and then boo him off. Clearly im talking about myself here and not all the other tolerant and realistic fans we have

Chez Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 That really is s**t. Defensive/holding midfielder or not.....that's s**t. Does the side suffer from a lack of chances and goals when Morgan plays? If no then there is no need for me to roll out the Makalele/Mascherano stats
Smirking_Saint Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Does the side suffer from a lack of chances and goals when Morgan plays? If no then there is no need for me to roll out the Makalele/Mascherano stats I just looked at them two on Wiki before scrolling down and reading this lol

Lighthouse Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Does the side suffer from a lack of chances and goals when Morgan plays? If no then there is no need for me to roll out the Makalele/Mascherano stats We've won all 3 games since Morgan got injured, scoring 8 without conceding. Poor form I know, but it could be a lot worse.

up and away Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Does the side suffer from a lack of chances and goals when Morgan plays? If no then there is no need for me to roll out the Makalele/Mascherano stats I think there's a need to roll them out and do a comparison. It's only this second half of the season he has been of any real value, about 6 games before he got injured. Previously his defensive displays were petulant and not putting in the effort. Prior to his injury he was doing the defensive midfield role extremely well and at last some value to the team. I hope when he comes back he continues in that manner but it's not been that great a length yet. When he started putting in those performances I said exactly as you, he does not need to do anything else when he is that solid.
Guan 2.0 Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 we've won all 3 games since morgan got injured, scoring 8 without conceding. Poor form i know, but it could be a lot worse. 3-1 hth
Saint_clark Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 That really is s**t. Defensive/holding midfielder or not.....that's s**t. How many did Makelele score?
Lighthouse Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 3-1 hth When carrying out a statistical analysis, you ignore anomalies.
sotonjoe Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Stocky would be here in 2 hours flat if we wanted him, we don't seem to unfortunately! Mistake imo as he would be an excellent addition! Did he tell you this on Facebook?
corky morris Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 We've won all 3 games since Morgan got injured, scoring 8 without conceding. Poor form I know, but it could be a lot worse. Nicely ignoring the 1-0 loss at Walsall when he was only on the park for 4 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Barry the Badger Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Did he tell you this on Facebook? Why don't you give him a shout? I'm sure he will happily tell you what's going on :-)
Lighthouse Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Nicely ignoring the 1-0 loss at Walsall when he was only on the park for 4 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you have to take one of your central midfielders off after 4 minutes, it's going to create a problem whoever it is. Especially as Hammond and Chaplow were already on the pitch and we had to bring on Guess to replace him, who is a completely different player. Besides, from what people have said on here we had chances, but didn't finish any of them off at Walsall. Or you can take everything at face value, in which case it's still 3 wins and a defeat. 2.25 points per game without Morgan, compared to 1.73 before Morgan got injured.
scott_saints Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 How many did Makelele score? I wont look it up, but would place good money that it's more than Morgan.

So your comparing a 4 game sample against the rest of the season ?? And thats scientifically sound is it ?
Jack Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 But we play prettier football with Morgan, which is more important than winning IMO
Lighthouse Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 So your comparing a 4 game sample against the rest of the season ?? And thats scientifically sound is it ? I'm not the one saying we struggle when Morgan is missing. I just pointed out that winning 3 out of 3 (or 4) isn't exactly struggling. Conversely at the start of the season, after Pardew left, we went 5 consecutive games without a goal and Schneiderlin played every minute. We weren't all on here saying, "Schneiderlin is crap" because there are other factors at play. In that case, not having a manager.
percy windham Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 I live with Brian's cousin. I will ask him if he knows anything.
SFC Forever Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 :facepalm:Is that what we call coming out???????????????????
RobM Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Why does anyone think that suddenly, the club is going to change their tight-lipped, secretive, professional, wont-talk-about-a-deal-until-its-done stance and start blabbing information to the world? Nobody had even the slightest, genuine clue that we were going to sign a CM until NA mentioned it, but yet everyone is now suddenly ITK. Really?
markr27 Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 My source is very reliable and he knows nothing either
Saint_lambden Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 JonnyFordham on twitter ( Reporter for Reading Post - http://twitter.com/JonnyFordham ) 2 hours ago : 'Rumors building that Howard is off on loan to #saintsfc until end of the season #readingfc Trying to get confirmation now, looks a goer'
Saint Fan CaM Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 Believe this when I see it happen. Mind you, if it does, watch him rip up L1 and then Reading putting a £3m price tag on his head in the summer!

saints-cris Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 Please be true. Trying not to get excited though

Nobody had even the slightest, genuine clue that we were going to sign a CM until NA mentioned it, but yet everyone is now suddenly ITK. Really? Exactly! In fact, any possible transfers that have been leaked have very quickly gone down the pan soon after. If there was any truth in this one the chances are it was dead and buried the moment it was leaked. The club like to do business behind closed doors and don't mix well with gobby people that like to hike the price via the press or rumours. The more rumours there are the more surprised I will be if the deal actually happens.
Thedelldays Posted 15 March, 2011 Posted 15 March, 2011 it rumours like this that cause such disapointment when who it is we get in arrives...and fans get on their backs...
