The Majestic Channon Posted 12 March, 2011 Posted 12 March, 2011 Thought the saints fans were fantastic and turned it into a home game, as for bompey, where were they???? nerves maybe?
Bourno Posted 12 March, 2011 Posted 12 March, 2011 One of the best away atmospheres of the season. Very poor home support in terms of noise and songs. I found the stewards to be very good today, showed common sense and polite. Despite us not thinking that this is a local deby etc, some of our supporters got a little over excited when we scord and a few broke through the barriers- that was a bit embarrasing.
iansouthstander Posted 12 March, 2011 Posted 12 March, 2011 There were probably 3/4000 there today who only turned up just to see Southampton and wont go again .Didn't seem to know any of their songs or players for that matter.Consequently they didn't contribute to the atmosphere one iota. Whereas the majority of Saints fans today were hardcore regulars and gave their all to support the lads.
dubai_phil Posted 12 March, 2011 Posted 12 March, 2011 The Saints fans were awesome on the radio today. Respect to all who went, you must all have sore throats right now, hope you enjoyed the beers after, you deserved it and did us proud
Appy Posted 12 March, 2011 Posted 12 March, 2011 Great stuff today from the saints fans. Not very often the entire away following is stood for the full 90.
Griffo Posted 12 March, 2011 Posted 12 March, 2011 Was very good. Some reasonably humourous songs for a change too. Good day out.
Matthew Le God Posted 12 March, 2011 Posted 12 March, 2011 When we scord and a few broke through the barriers- that was a bit embarrasing. Why is that embarrassing to you? Unless you were one of the idiots, all you have as a connection with them is a following of the same football team by shear chance. No need to be embarrassed by them as you have no control over their actions.
kpturner Posted 12 March, 2011 Posted 12 March, 2011 Couldn't tell whether the Bournemouth fans were loud or not. All you can hear is the noise immediate around you. Interested to hear what people have to say from a different part of the ground. "....we don't care about you" was a new one on me that seemed to catch on fast. Very arrogant, but it seemed in context. Enjoyed the atmosphere once we had a two goal cushion but shat myself before that.
Saint_clark Posted 12 March, 2011 Posted 12 March, 2011 All you could hear on the radio for about 85 minutes were the Saints fans, with Bompey having 5 minutes (if that) of singing when they scored.
saintwiz Posted 12 March, 2011 Posted 12 March, 2011 The Saints fans were awesome on the radio today. Respect to all who went, you must all have sore throats right now, hope you enjoyed the beers after, you deserved it and did us proud the carlsberg soothed the throat.......
niceandfriendly Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 One of the best away atmosphere I've experienced for a long time, it helps tremendously when we're allowed to stand.
OWTS Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 I was in the West Stand today and have to say that the noise didn't travel very well from the away section or Bournemouth's end. Poor acoustics at that ground.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 Was a cracking atmosphere. Great to have our entire away support singing as one for virtually the entire game. I have just awoken with a very sore head and barely a voice. The pancakes the missus is cooking should sort me out though.
alehouseboys Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 I was in the West Stand today and have to say that the noise didn't travel very well from the away section or Bournemouth's end. Poor acoustics at that ground. But as you're quite clearly a Bournemouth fan that's just glossing over the fact your cup final support didn't live up to the ocassion and were easily outsung by 1300 visitors. All your posts take a similar line and have all appeared only around the 3 times we've played you. Give it up and we'll see you in about another 50 years or so.

farawaysaint Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 Well spotted..just looked at some of his posts, bless. I've looked at his posts to, odd mix, he's either a Cherries fan masquerading as a Saints fan or as he's said he happens to live in Bournemouth and supports them as his second team. Regardless, his posts haven't exactly been confrontational like some of the pompey fans we get on here trolling as Saints.

Funnily enough i thought he was a gheyer, maybe that's why he doesn't mind
Andy_Porter Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 One of the best away atmosphere I've experienced for a long time, it helps tremendously when we're allowed to stand. The best since Pride Park in the play offs. Easily the best atmosphere from us in this league, fantastic.
Patrick Bateman Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 Top day out, great atmosphere around the town too!
Mao Cap Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 The best for a good few years, I think. Some decent songs and all. Bourmemouth had a bit of a go at the start TBF, but didn't hear them much after the equaliser.
hamster Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 I saw the drummer boys before the match and seriously thought that was a sign that they were gonna be rockin. Thank god we don't have our own little drummer boys.
dingbattigger Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 The Saints fans were awesome on the radio today. Respect to all who went, you must all have sore throats right now, hope you enjoyed the beers after, you deserved it and did us proud Mr D and both kids returned without voices. It was bliss!!!!!
southern comfort Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 I was in the far corner of the North Stand, so quite far away from the away end, and as a Bournemouth fan you will think I'm biased, I could here that you were singing but not what you were singing about until towards the end of the second half. I would say its the grounds acoustics. I thought your support was good today, and why not your on a good run up the league. Maybe the posts about lots of you being in the home end were 'tongue inn check' as i had the opportunity on 3 occasions (unfortunately) to have a good look around the stand and not a peep. My family of saints fans haven't texted me since the 2nd goal which is nice of them, if the shoe was on the other foot......
niceandfriendly Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 The best since Pride Park in the play offs. Easily the best atmosphere from us in this league, fantastic. Agreed, Pride Park was special, great memories from that night. Any more pictures or videos from yesterday chaps?

My family of saints fans haven't texted me since the 2nd goal which is nice of them, if the shoe was on the other foot...... Oh our fans were in there alright. They just weren't there to act the Billy Big Balls or wind things up. The best way is to keep schtum? They would have been more noticeable for not cheering when your team scored? One of them, reporting on this forum, states that he was sussed because of that. Big team in L1 ?- definitely (as DW says) Deserve to be in L1 ?- definitely. Arrogant fans? Like all teams we have some and today we are enjoying another 3 points on the board. We just happened to be playing your team this weekend. The jockeying for 2nd is not over and done with. Any of at least four or five teams could claim that place. We are probably in a good position, with games in hand. Games in hand does not equal points on the board so it's all very much up in the air. Your team is one of that group, don't give up on them. Hopefully we will grab 2nd and you'll win the playoffs.

As ESB said, the ones in there weren't in there to cause trouble - just ordinary fans who couldn't get seats for the away section due to the pathetic allocation given us!! Christ we take that many to Carlisle, Hartlepool and Tranmere etc etc. Why jump up and down and draw attention to yourself when it had already been publicly announced that any away supporters in the home sections would be chucked out.
Iowsaintsfan Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 Any more video clips from anyone from yesterday?

I doubt there was any in the North Stand, you are probably right, but definately everywhere else in the ground!

Here's yours truly with 3 others in your South Stand... Not to mention one of ours who got a bit carried away after the 2nd went in. I am surprised you didn't miss his goal celebration from your end - the look on the Bompey faithful was priceless. I knew at least 12 in the South stand and there were quite a few others.
ladysaint Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 Thoroughly enjoyed it yesterday, we were the Man Utd of the South yesterday, it was good especially the "We dont care about you" etc.,
Griffo Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 Here's yours truly with 3 others in your South Stand... Not to mention one of ours who got a bit carried away after the 2nd went in. That matey celebrating the 2nd was absolutely ****ing hilarious. I was watching him more than celebrating the goal myself!
70's Mike Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 Lots of the internet fans like to knock us that go to games about levels of support but, as with yesterday, when the time requires it Saints fans both home and away produce the goods.
Griffo Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 Bournemouth fans on their forums seems to think it wasn't that good yesterday.
Joey-deacons-left-nut Posted 13 March, 2011 Posted 13 March, 2011 From their point of view it probably wasn't.
West End Saint Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Best atmosphere this season by far that is what away support should be like really enjoyed the day singing was constant great day out probably the best we have had in this league maybe Orient last year or MK Dons in the JPT semi good work lets keep it up
Sour Mash Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Bournemouth fans on their forums seems to think it wasn't that good yesterday. Got a link mate? I fancy a Monday morning laugh.

Can't get over how pretty much silent the Bournemouth lot were in their cup final, especially considering what a good start their team had.
Mao Cap Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Hoping that Brentford is even better. Been looking forward to that game all season!

Griffo Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 I think there was quite a few sat down in the block nearest the segregation.
dickyhale Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 Great stuff today from the saints fans. Not very often the entire away following is stood for the full 90. Yes agree GREAT day out....COYR
Son of Bob Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 One of my top 5 all time away-days. Great atmosphere and a good day out!
Appy Posted 14 March, 2011 Posted 14 March, 2011 I think there was quite a few sat down in the block nearest the segregation. Meh, i couldn't see them from where i was stood.
