I'll come clean.......... 2 best atmospheres at SMS this season in the league have been Brighton and dare I say it Bompey, OK they weren't anything like a pompey match, but being local(ish) adds a bit of spice as well as a decent number of away fans. It's not rivalry like we have with the fishy few it but it's a lot more fun than Hartlepool or Rochdale coming to town. I'll admit I care enough to want saints to smash Bournemouth off the pitch tommorrow, rub their little cherry red cheeks into the pitch and right royally shaft them.......there I said it I care (a liitle bit)

Summed up perfectly. We do care, anyone who says otherwise is a liar, we just don't care as much as we do with Pompey. It's far more interesting then playing Yeovil and Hartlepool at least.

At chuffing last. I care too. The biggest disappointment this year was the 'rabbits in headlights' impression our players did at SMS. Even more than all the points we have chucked down the drain by gifting late equalizers ;-)

Crab Lungs - Thanks so much for not being tarred with that brush - but christ that must have taken some time to write.

And thanks Sir Woody - just a shame that you think ALL cherries fans are obsessed with hating 'Scummers'. I'm a bit of a stuck record when it comes to generalisations I know. So i'll get in the bunker until tomorrow.

I'll be back, win lose or draw - have fun. Soccer saturday for me - Need to save my pennies for Notts, Yeovil and Pools away..

There are a lot of you who aren't so bitter TBF . A good mate off mine is a Bompey fanatic and season ticket holder, but likes saints, he has been to st marys with me a few times and always chears when we score. I myself lived in Bmth for years , always flew the saints flag and never endured anything more than banter.

So a Saints fan writes a pastiche of a sad Bournemouth fan's moronic rant and the Bournemouth fans lap it up and can't see it for what it is. We should sit back and let it all roll over our heads whilst the Bournemouth lot disappear up their own arse's trying to out do Pompey in the hating us.

I was working in Bournemouth from November 2009 til end of last summer, I always wear the Saints Training jacket to work and where I was working nights I near on always wondered out down to a takeaway. Quite often got chatting to B'mouth fans and it was always pleasantries. I gather it's the youthful side of there fans who have had to watch us & p*mp*y take to the stage over the years and want a bit of that pie to themselves.

I have emailed him personally with my comments. However this thread just shows that some t**t of an alleged journalist can write a complete load of c**p to stir things up and sell the Echo rag(s) and people will bite.

"And so, despite the ‘stature’ of the club, Saints currently sit three points behind tiny Cherries going into tomorrow’s ‘cup final’ at Dean Court."

They really are small time. For the record, I think Adkins is spot on, I don't think 3-1 flattered us at all. Bournemouth were bullied, for the 3rd time this season.

That is by far the most juvenile, pathetic bit of "journalism" that I have ever seen. I could understand if it came from a fans forum, but from a so-call professional newspaper........

I couldn't agree more. What an astonishing article!

 What a pile of turd. This guy gets paid?

I like how he makes out all the goals - including the free-kick - were down to defensive mistakes as well. Barnards, OK it was. Hammonds, i'd say the ball was put into the right area to cause trouble. Lamberts? Apparently the wall was in the wrong place.

We can't win, they lost 3-1 at home ffs! We have played them three times this season and the aggregate score is 7-1 - what do they want us to do, beat them 10-0 with gusto and guile to rival Brazil 1970, and then apologise? This is not journalism, it is blind hated, the kind of blind hatred that winds people up and can result in violence after a few pints and some mis-timed provocation, for that these stupid hacks should be reported to the PCC.

When we got beaten by united in the cup, it was a case of the better side having better players and consequently another gear, and I think that has been the case when we have played Bournemouth this season. Had we treated united with such animosity after that match (and after all they put the nail in the coffin of almost three decades of top flight football for us), we would have looked ridiculous, just as Bournemouth and large elements of their small-minded, ill-informed fan base do now!...

To be fair to Bournemouth fans, most of the ones I know are decent and the vast majority of this is being whipped by Newsquest, a fifth rate American franchise, that happens to own both the Bournemouth and Southampton gutter rags. The reason the journalism is so poor is that Newsquest's staff are paid next to nothing (I have a number of friends that started their careers at the Echo and realised that they could earn much more elsewhere and not be subject to a regular f-word tirade - allegedly - by their stone age sub-editor - once they had "got a foot in the door"). Pay peanuts, get rubbish. I've also witnessed first hand how the Soton Echo operates and anyone who wastes their money on it really is a fool. The reason the Daily Telegraph has gone downhill so badly into a gutter tabloid is because one of the senior staffers is ex-Echo.

Strange, sure I heard their manager, Mr Bradbury, say Southampton "are a massive club" on Friday's South Today.

It gets so confusing. :p

He's paid to get a reaction, thus boosting hit-count on their website, thus boosting their advertising revenues....

Mission accomplished.
