I work for a computer company in Sussex, f*ck me is it quiet at the moment! The phones are barely even ringing. This has been going on for about 3 weeks now. Anyone else finding their work extremely quiet?

I've booked a 2 week holiday because it's so quiet - boredom is killing me.

I work at a Zoo doing IT so Lion's roaring and Gibbons screaming and kids shouting aside....... No actually I have been run off my feet and its not even summer yet when it gets bloody busy here!!!

No money to spend but plenty of projects to be done gives me plenty to do. Your place must have too many staff ;)

Yes very.

I'm in the construction industry & haven't filled a timesheet with more tha 60% productive time since before christmas. Saintsweb, facebook, minesweeper & solitaire are my only 'entertainment'.

why would you book time off when it's quiet? That's the best time to be in. You don't want to come into work when it's all busy. You've got it back to front, you young idiot. Then again, I wouldn't know too much as I've been living off an inheritance since I was 18 :smug:

Started up a new venture last November, I am already subbing jobs out, as from tomorrow morning I will be in manic mode until this time next week..

I just wish fuel prices were lower, its now getting expensive.

Saying that there are a few days a week when the phone does not ring.

Im in the luxury end of retailing and that is always the first to hit the buffers. Still doing ok but it is like pulling teeth getting people to agree to buy.

Ah right quiet as in lack of commercial activity rather than a silent environment....no then, but it's awfully silent most of the time.

If you can find me a nice old Pembroke with a three quarter length drawer I might throw you a nifty (delivered of course)

It always busy in the Refinery, you would never think there is/was a big recession, it's just money no object continuously. Saying that, i'm only temporary until July and I don't really do too much, but the money is great. Lovely.

....and, NO,I am not experiencing a quiet period at work ATM and neither do I expect this to change in the foreseeable future. Pleased for those who are though.

i said the quality end. You should find one quite easily they are out of favour at present, although the drawer length is a tad un-usual

I have two big jobs ahead of me, a kitchen and a fencing job. Then a handfull of smaller 1-2 hours jobs (tv mounting, stuck door etc) and a couple of 1-2 days jobs. That's about usual really. Have priced up three large jobs so would be nice to get one of those in at some point.

Am in the middle of getting my website re-designed by a professional so should hopefully generate some more business.

I think the poster called Junction 9 is in a similar line of work to you and he's always quite busy - often from work that people on here have PM'd him about. He fixed a dishwasher for me once. A good lad, decent price etc. His ears are VERY large though.

Energy remains busy. My PR company is actively dealing with one biomass plant proposal (not Southampton), seven wind farm proposals, two gas-fired power station proposals and a general pro-wind public campaign in mid-Wales.

There's nothing better than being made redundant through your company going bust the day before you're due to go on holiday.
