sad saints fan Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 Massive Game. Early goal could be crucial. In most home games this season we have started brightly but not always converted early chances. I think it is important that we do on tuesday, this will mean Yeovil will need to change their(expected )gameplan. BUT..............if this doesnt happen it is important that we(those of us at the game) do not become frustrated and tense as I am sure the team picks up on this.

Kelvin said as much in the last match day programme.
doddisalegend Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 Early goal is vital, if we get ahead the players relax and normally start to play good football. The longer it stays at 0-0 (or god forbid Yeovil go in front) the more our players try to force it with long punts up field hoping to find Lambert. Yeovil won't bend over while we shaft them. All our matches against them this season and last have been scrapy hard fought affairs even more so if they have Wotton playing in front of the back four. Scrappy 1-0 to us, unless we score in the first 10mins in which case the game will open up and we might score 3.
West End Saint Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 Part 1 of a massive 2 games for us that could go a long way to deciding where we finish just have to beat Yeovil nothing else will do like many fingers crossed we score early i dont think my nerves can take it if we are level with 10 mins to go. We are going to have to step up & win & win well the games that we are supposed to win Brighton & Bournemouth have all season & if we are going up we have to win these games I am going to be positive 3 0 to Saints to send us into Saturdays crunch game full of confidence come on you Saints lets get this show on the road
sad saints fan Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 Exeter could do us a massive favour if they could beat Bournemouth. Is this the type of game the cherries could slip up in? Exeter are no mugs and have only lost 5 times at home this season. A draw would be okay but wins for us and exeter means we go into saturdays game only 3 points behind. It could make them a bit nevous.
Cabrone Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 Yeovil will give us a tough test but if we show some mental strength by keeping our heads and put on a professional display I can only see one outcome. 2-0 or 3-1 to us.
SNSUN Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 I'll be at this one, first game I can make since late November. Looking forward to it, but Yeovil won't be pushovers, I think they're unbeaten in 2011. We will win though, 2-0 will do.
Evil Monkey Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 I'll be at this one, first game I can make since late November. Looking forward to it, but Yeovil won't be pushovers, I think they're unbeaten in 2011. We will win though, 2-0 will do. Close. They've lost 5.
ssaints Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 I am quite optimistic, the Cherries have a tough trip to Exeter away followed by us at home and Carlisle away then home to Charlton. If we get a good win away then we have nothing to fear come Saturday and we could put a good run together. I think March is where we can kick on. Even if we don't quite make the auto's we will have good momentum for the play offs. Yeovil won't be easy but another solid well-disciplined display like Saturday will give them a lot of problems.
alpine_saint Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 They're expected to win, so if you're prediction comes true then they clear are "doing" expectation. I really wonder about people like you who feel the need to be pedantic. The "expectation" is that we will win handsomely. I reckon we will scrape it. How on earth did you get to be a moderator ? I remember you being one of the most argumentative people on here before.
DT Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 Yeovil will give us a tough test but if we show some mental strength by keeping our heads and put on a professional display I can only see one outcome. 2-0 or 3-1 to us. That's two outcomes.
Wade Garrett Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 We'll destroy them. Then we'll destroy Bournemouth on Saturday.
CWD Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 I think it'll be 4-1 saints. We seem to like scoring 4 at home this season. It'll be 1-1 at half time though, just so the people at the game can say 'cannot believe the half time comments on the match thread ffs it was half time get a grip alpine you miserable wrist slitter'. Or something like that
Wadge Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 I think we will whoop em 4-0, got that feeling. A nice early goal and then we will punish them in the second half. The feel good factor will roll on from the 2-0 victory at Colchester, then we will take that feeling away to Bournmouth where we will win again.
Thedelldays Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 we will win 3-1... then we will win 2-1 on saturday and then go on one of those winning/unbeaten runs for 5 games...we will secure 2nd spot after only having to gain a point last day of the season..
thorpie the sinner Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 think it will be an uninspring 2-0 victory but solid never the less! We will save the best for Sat though and beat Bompey 4-1!!! I know it doesnt sound like me, but I am trying a new tack!
Saint_clark Posted 7 March, 2011 Author Posted 7 March, 2011 we will win 3-1... then we will win 2-1 on saturday and then go on one of those winning/unbeaten runs for 5 games...we will secure 2nd spot after only having to gain a point last day of the season.. It's a nice feeling, picturing that happening

Saint_clark Posted 7 March, 2011 Author Posted 7 March, 2011 Any idea of attendance? I've got a horrible feeling it'll be under 20k...
saints-cris Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 Just booked my ticket, and to answer my own question, there are about 8,000 tickets left at the moment.
Saint_clark Posted 7 March, 2011 Author Posted 7 March, 2011 Just booked my ticket, and to answer my own question, there are about 8,000 tickets left at the moment. Really? Not sure I believe that, the ticket office have been wrong before...probably 8,000 tickets left before the itchen north opens, which would leave around 11,000 left altogether.
LGTL Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 we will win 3-1... then we will win 2-1 on saturday and then go on one of those winning/unbeaten runs for 5 games...we will secure 2nd spot after only having to gain a point last day of the season.. And then, being the Saints we all know and love, they'd lose to Walsall last day!
Supersubpuckett Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 I think we play better against the top sides (although I'm sure someone will quickly point out if i'm wrong) so I'm less worried about bompey etc than some of the crud at the bottom of the table - Tranmere, Walsall.....

Saint Charlie Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 From Solent Twitter: Guly out but back in light training, Forte and Seaborne back in the squad. Adkins said "we are always looking" for players but no loans thought to be close. IMO we don't really need a loan, except if a very good central midfielder became available.
dellboypete Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 I'll be at this one, first game I can make since late November. Looking forward to it, but Yeovil won't be pushovers, I think they're unbeaten in 2011. We will win though, 2-0 will do. They have the second best away form in Lge 1 over the the past five away games, after MK Dons and just ahead of bmth so it won't be a pushover http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/aform.html so I'll go for a close/tight/scrappy 4-0 to us
SNSUN Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 Close. They've lost 5. My source has been killed. Please go about your business in a normal manner.
Jones91 Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 Lamberts gonna score a free kick... (clap clap clap clap, clap clap clap clap, clap clap clap clap, claclaclaclaclclclclclclccccccc.......... )
SaintBobby Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 In order to highlight the crucial importance of the next two games, Saints are around 1/3 to beat Yeovil tomorrow night - all of the other promotion contenders are odds against pickign up three points. For the Bournemouth v Saints, Southampton are very narrow favourites, although both sides are available at around 6/4.
Window Cleaner Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 Close. They've lost 5. Yeovil don't have a bad record away from home but they're rubbish on their own patch.
wightman35 Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 I think that this will be a tough one for us, but I am usually wrong. Beware of Mr Hill; he who is liberal with his red and yellow cards. Yeovil fans are not too keen on him, I read!

Analysis of your post: Ist sentence - Insulting statement 2nd & 3rd sentence - On topic 4th sentence - Contentious and argumentative question 5th sentence - Insulting accusation about being argumentative You wonder why people think you're a tw*t? And to stay on topic...our home form suggests that we should win...I agree the early goal will make the difference...4-1 if so - 1-0 if it takes a while to get that one.
Lighthouse Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 Only change I'd make is starting with the Martian in defence for Jaidi. Pretty sure Adkins will go with Seaborne however. MIGHT be tempted to rest AOC for Guess ahead of the Bompey trip.
alpine_saint Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 You wonder why people think you're a tw*t? Actually I couldnt give a f**k what most of you think.
Jonnyboy Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 Actually I couldnt give a f**k what most of you think. Then why reply and swear?
SamyCM Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 Hopefully we can put a good run together, it seems that just when I thought we'd turn the corner we drop points. Hopefully a good win tomorrow we can put some pressure on the top 4. Also Brighton, Posh and B'mouth away and MK dons and Charlton playing each other. Hopefully they can be the ones to drop some points.
bender Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 Tomorrow could be the day we finally make up ground. Brentford v Bton - difficult away game. They never win there. Exeter v Bmuff - another tricky away game. Exeter have positive home record Hudds v Rochdale. Dale have an away record of 5 6 5 and a positive away goal difference. Notts co v Posh . Good home record of 9 1 6. Results go our way tomorrow and win at BMuff and we are 2nd with games in hand.
Saint_John Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 Reading a Yeovil fans site it seems the Ref is card happy and they have lost all 3 games he has done for them. http://www.ciderspace.co.uk/ASP/news/news.asp?NewsItemId=14510 His record during the 2010-11 season points to more of the same - his 118 yellow cards and 5 record cards are by far the most that have been raised in the Football League this season, with only two other officials (Iain Williamson on 107 and Lee Mason on 100) having broken through the century mark for yellow cards this season. I was also reading their views on Southampton http://www.ciderspace.co.uk/ASP/opposition/southampton.asp So that is where Jim Joyce went. One minor casualty in the war was to the benefit of Yeovil Town. In the on-going politics physio Jim Joyce was forced out, and moved to Huish Park I couldn't help laugh at other fans view of our troubles (prehaps some fans need at reminder) The chaos at St Mary's reached levels of utter farce, with chairmen and boards *****ing and battling in public, coming and going within months, and then Lowe returning as the supposed saviour. If his first spell had been controversial this one was unmitigated disaster, and by the time he was ejected for the second occasion more managers had come and gone, Saints were relegated to League One, in administration, deducted ten points and teetering on the brink of liquidation. The administration dragged on and on and on, with supposed buyers popping up all over the place but mostly turning out to be publicity hungry fantasists. There was a fire sale over the summer as players were shipped out to meet immediate bills and to get them off the wage costs. Just as it appeared that for once it wasn't wolf being cried and a seriously large club was actually going to collapse completely and go out of business a white knight, in the form of a Swiss industrialist, Markus Liebherr, did gallop over the horizon, and the club survived to fight another day. They need to update some of their pub information at the end because it is out of date.

Andy Durman Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/aform.html Last 8 shows a dip in form to 1.75 per match We need to address this if we are going up automatically. My biggest concern is the teams cohesion without Schneiderlin or Guly. These are the players who link it all together. Chaplow and Hammond need to step up and Lallana has got to find his pre-injury form and fitness. I woud love to see a loan centre midfielder and leader. How much would it cost not to go up this year?
bender Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 But, given this is Saints.... I remember the week before Xmas when Brighton were at home to Charlton. I said to all my Brighton supporting chums, if Charlton dont win today and every single game goes our way this weekend (new years day) then were 2nd. All those things happened and we were 2nd.
Danbert Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 The idea that someone might think that he gives a f**k about what we think f**ks him off.
Nexstar Posted 7 March, 2011 Posted 7 March, 2011 Solent clearly aren't interested "Southampton v Yeovil: Preview and live coverage of Tuesday's game between Plymouth and Swindon in League One http://bbc.in/eyDOla"

dune Posted 8 March, 2011 Posted 8 March, 2011 Tonight could be massive. We need to do our bit and win, and if Bournemouth lose it pts all the pressure on them for Saturday.
