Saint_clark Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Gotta be a win - hopefully a nice 3 or 4-0 leading up to some tricky games. I'm gonna go for 4-0, Lambert twice, Lallana and Fonte.
Saint_clark Posted 5 March, 2011 Author Posted 5 March, 2011 Could well happen, Jaidi was knackered today by all accounts, and Yeovil should pose less of a threat than Colchester.
S-Clarke Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Looking forward to this one. Could put ourselves into a great position for Saturday if Bournemouth drop points away at Exeter....
Roger Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Martin for yeovil, Jaid who has been awesome for bmouth.
SuperMikey Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 ---------------------------DAVIS--------------------- BUTTERFIELD--------FONTE------MARTIN------HARDING CHAMBERLAIN----HAMMOND------CHAPLOW----LALLANA ------------------LAMBERT------BARNARD------------- Slightly worried about our options on the bench, but that's a strong starting XI. 3-0 to Saints!
Toomer Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Fonte & Martin are the future central defensive partnership IMO, lets field the most attack minded side we can and go for the throat with that in mind I am going for 5 - 0.
Leicestersaint Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 I am looking forward to another 3 points - an early goal would be nice to keep the crowd from fretting too much.
Roger Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Fonte & Martin are the future central defensive partnership IMO, lets field the most attack minded side we can and go for the throat with that in mind I am going for 5 - 0. Yes but Jaidi for me has been our best player recently and would definately play him awy at bournemouth. His temperament is fab and what a signing he is.
saints-cris Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Early goal and we win this one with ease. At home we've conceded the least in the division so no excuses to let them snatch anything. Get some momentum going into the Bournemouth game.
Mr Dad Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 I like the enthusiasm of those predicting 3 or 4 nil! I'll be there with my sons shouting/singing for Saints. The 3 or 4 nil will be good for our goal difference which could make a difference with things so close at the top of the table. Yeovil normally bring a good bunch of noisy supporters. Could be a good atmosphere for a mid-week game!
Andy Durman Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Yes but Jaidi for me has been our best player recently and would definately play him awy at bournemouth. His temperament is fab and what a signing he is. Jaidi made quite a few bad mistakes today and cost us a goal at Walsall. Martin should be given an opportunity against Yeovil. Then perhaps Fonte could concentrate on his own game.

Then perhaps Fonte could concentrate on his own game. I think its jaidi having to play 3 games in a short space cant anymore. It was his fault on yues but a bit unfortunate and other than that was great. Hes nakered I think fonte doesnt have to do so much when jaidi is there. Jaidi is a first defender and fonte isnt. At posh font had far too much to do so dont think that. Jaidi also scored last week. There was a situation when fonte was skinned vs swindon nd jaidi put a great tackle into cover. How mny goals have we conceded since posh with jaidi in team? Hardly any what 3 in 6 games?
Cricketphilly Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Gotta be a win - hopefully a nice 3 or 4-0 leading up to some tricky games. I'm gonna go for 4-0, Lambert twice, Lallana and Fonte. Out the traps quick there Clarky! I'll happily take a 2-0
thefunkygibbons Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Solid win required It would be good to see them scoring goals for fun again
Matthew Le God Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Yeovil manager thinks it is very unlikely Paul Wotton will be fit for Tuesday. He went off injured today after 5 minutes.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Just want a win....would love a 4 or 5 nil but will accept 1 nil A win is a win... And then on to Dean Court....
WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Just been looking at our results and except for Carlisle away if we score we don't lose.In 8 out of 9 defeats this season we didn't score. So if we can score early on tuesday night I will feel a lot more confident.3 points is an absolute must and hope a couple of our rivals slip up as most of them have tricky fixtures. That will keep the pressure on Bournemouth for next saturday
David Strover Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Feck me there's a lot of over-confident fans on this Forum. Apparently Yeovil Town are only turning up and hoping to keep the score below four. I hope the players don't have the same attitude. Should we win expect a hard fought tough victory and maybe only one goal in it. Seessssh you'd have thunk as fans we'd have learned by now.

David Strover Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Yes I agree but seeing posts like four of five will do etc. it's plan stupid. I bit like we're going to beat Swindon 8-0.....we've got to get some perspective into it surely?
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Must win game make no mistake. I can feel a 0-0 coming on.
scotty Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Must win game make no mistake. I can feel a 0-0 coming on. either that or another defeat to a freak goal against the run of play.... Not likely to happen tho, I reckon a solid performance and two nil.
S-Clarke Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Must win game make no mistake. I can feel a 0-0 coming on. We'll win well.
saints-cris Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 No more home slip ups. We have to make all our home games count as our away record is 1 point off Brighton's. Home form is the only thing seperating us really
benjii Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 Jaidi made quite a few bad mistakes today and cost us a goal at Walsall. Martin should be given an opportunity against Yeovil. Then perhaps Fonte could concentrate on his own game. Jaidi did far more good than bad today. The whole back 5 were excellent.
benjii Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 No more home slip ups. We have to make all our home games count as our away record is 1 point off Brighton's. Home form is the only thing seperating us really Indeed and that's largely due to the first few home games of the seasoning.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 5 March, 2011 Posted 5 March, 2011 It's all getting very tense. Peoples perspective of where we'll end up seems to be quite fluid and seems to change game after game. We're right in the thick of it with a great opportunity but I'm a little cautious as the team could be playing better so never quite sure what to expect. But I am still positive about it all as to be where we are while not playing brilliantly for the past month is an opportunity. This is of course assuming we'll play better and there aren't bigger issues at hand. 2-0 win on Tuesday for me, even if the performance isn't there the momentum will be for Bournemouth away in a week!
Thedelldays Posted 6 March, 2011 Posted 6 March, 2011 Give me a crappy 1-0 win... It's results that matter now... Not how we get them
dubai_phil Posted 6 March, 2011 Posted 6 March, 2011 We never learn do we. The Walsall build up thread was full of we're gonna score 3 or 4 gonna be a piece of cake, blah blah blah. The Colchester Build up was worried about the game, tough team bogey side. And look back at Tranmere & Notts County build ups as well. The fact is that it seems pretty clear that we as fans change our tune according to the league position & the result in our last match, and at the same time the TEAM appears to do the same. So from now until the end of the season we have to grind out results, we have to battle for the right to play our football and we have to understand that luck, bad bounces of the ball and inconsistent refereeing will all have an impact. IF we go out with that mindset and battle then we will break down soms teams and wallop them, but more important we will pick up wins when our passing game cannot be imposed due to conditions, opposition tactics, referees or sheer plain bad luck. I don't give a damn how we win between now and the end of the season but I sure as hell would take a 1-0 win in a rubbish game in all of them.
torsaint Posted 6 March, 2011 Posted 6 March, 2011 Just to clear something up. Jaidi is there as the main first clearance defender (90% headers). Fonte should be tidying up behind him and covering breaking forwards. Jaidi is NOT there for the football. Neither Seaborne nor Martin can be relied on for the first clearing header so the defence can come under pressure and Fonte's role changes.
Deppo Posted 6 March, 2011 Posted 6 March, 2011 ---------------------------DAVIS--------------------- BUTTERFIELD--------FONTE------MARTIN------HARDING CHAMBERLAIN----HAMMOND------CHAPLOW----LALLANA ------------------LAMBERT------BARNARD------------- Slightly worried about our options on the bench, but that's a strong starting XI. 3-0 to Saints! What I don't get is how people on here already know the starting line up days before the match.
ottery st mary Posted 6 March, 2011 Posted 6 March, 2011 It all comes together and Nigel at last has the team playing to its full potential.. Pards is now the forgotten man... Saints win 4-0:) WIFM
musesaint Posted 6 March, 2011 Posted 6 March, 2011 Looking at the League, our games in hand and goal difference between us and Bournemouth .. we could do with a big result on Tuesday to get our goal diff well above Bournemouth by next Saturday ..beat them then and we may yet be spared the stress of the Play-Offs
fanimal Posted 6 March, 2011 Posted 6 March, 2011 I would start with N'Guessan and keep Alex on the bench, tokeep him as fresh as possible for Saturday where he will have more space I reckon. Bournemouth will be caught in 2 minds as to how they play against us IMO - sit back/counter or play openly and risk being played off the park?

Bournemouth will be caught in 2 minds as to how they play against us IMO - sit back/counter or play openly and risk being played off the park? I was thinking about this. I think I would prefer to start with Ox, get a couple of goals and then take him off after 60 though. If we start with N'Guesan and he doesn't beat 10 players within the first five minutes the usual synaptically challenged element of the crowd will start getting restless and throw their rusks on the floor and there will be a danger the atmosphere gets nervy. I would bring Martin in for Jaidi but otherwise start with the same team. I would look to bring Ox and Lambert off after 60-70 minutes if we are comfortable.
eelpie Posted 6 March, 2011 Posted 6 March, 2011 It all comes together and Nigel at last has the team playing to its full potential.. Pards is now the forgotten man... Saints win 4-0:) WIFM Cup overfull on Devon ale Otters? I wish I could agree. We're hardly playing to our full potential when players' form remains inconsistant, our forwards are missing too many chances, and we concede possession as we did at Walsall (according to the BBC website). And we are weakened so long as Morgan remains injured. I have to agree with FF that something is missing. When Dean is at his best, as he was yesterday, we usually do well. His role in midfield is crucial to our success. When we secure more 1-0 and 2.0 wins I will heartily agree with you.

Dalek2003 Posted 6 March, 2011 Posted 6 March, 2011 A stuttering 0-0 draw on Tuesday and a scrappy draw at bmf, that's what I think.
benjii Posted 6 March, 2011 Posted 6 March, 2011 The team I would pick for Tuesday is: ------------------------------HODDLE-------------------- HODDLE-----------HODDLE-----------HODDLE---------HODDLE HODDLE-----------HODDLE-----------HODDLE---------HODDLE ------------------HODDLE-----------HODDLE-------------- Good shout.
Appy Posted 6 March, 2011 Posted 6 March, 2011 Our own tribute to Dean Richards before the game must be happening?
Deppo Posted 6 March, 2011 Posted 6 March, 2011 Jaidi did far more good than bad today. The whole back 5 were excellent. Doh! I can't believe we let this stupid comment go. Back 5? It's back 4, stupid. Who is the 5th one? Stupid.

alpine_saint Posted 6 March, 2011 Posted 6 March, 2011 Reckon it will be 1-0. To us. Saints dont "do" expectation...
