Question for the Negative-Thinkers after the Colchester result

I'm still here.

Glad to see everything in the garden is now rosey after todays result.

People moan about the negativity and the views that go against the majority, get over it.no need for a baiting thread.

We won,let's enjoy that eh.

A win is a win and the 3 points were absolutely cruicial since all the other top teams, bar Uddersfield, got 3 points as well. But its not all positive, because we heard the commentary suggesting Colchester had long periods of dominance and ultimately 2-0 against 10 men isn't earth-shattering. I want to see my Saints' team playing the opposition off the park, and its not happening. But if we win against Yoevil and then beat Boscombe next Saturday, I will feel differently.

No its not all rosey. We have morgan out and guly and connolly and forte, first 2 more important, need them all back. Dont think midfield is right. We need a loan striker who can score to play with ricky imo. We need 4 from next 2. Can I get ticket in the home end?

Up until we scored against the run of play and they went down to 10 men we were again mediocre at best.

One game does not make a season,or your point that eveything is great actually, but a string of poor performances and results can mould a season.

I will have a beer tonight because we won,but i know there are tougher tests to come and we are still underperforming, along with Adkins.

Oh,and i tip my hat to Bournemouth and Brighton, they are the achievers in this league, not us.

Wow, which is worse - the pointless baiting or the pointless negativity?

I guess it's a bit like asking whether you'd rather have gonorrhoea or syphilis...

Thanks for that. I'll remind you of this comment later in the season.

Just as well we won, everyone else did. Good result today and repairs some of the damage done tuesday night. It's all about beating Yeovil now and getting something next saturday.

And in the original post by me Brighton was in there too, don't edit to suit.

If you don't think that both Brighton and Bournemouth have been the big achievers thus far then you are mad as cheese.

Look at what those two clubs have in comparison to us,and couple that with Bournemouths loss of thier much vaunted manager.

Whatever the final table, they have been the two top sides this season.

would have been a better result against 11 men but i will happily take it.

The way Brighton keep winning is impressive and Bournemouth too.

A win is a win, doesn't matter if it's against 10 players or 11 players.

Not sure why some people are after some sort of 100% perfection out of every game we play.

Dont get me wrong I had a draw down today. However, losing away to walsall, beating 10 men, the performance, other teams results and injuries make peole worried. I can understand it tbh. I still think we can get 4 from next 2 and think we can do it with loan signings in cm and cf.

Yep. Apologies to dune that I have a life outside this site.

It's gonorrhoea all the way until we lose, then everyone will come out in favour of syphilis. Typical

Great result today regardless of the opposition or circumstances, mainly because of Tuesday's result.

I am still 'negative' though.

Tuesday's result has drained all confidence about this current team out of me and everytime we play I fully expect to hear ...Southampton nil....and that is this team that has done that to me no one else.

So it's just a co-incidence that whenever we win you regain your life, but when we lose your life is free enough to moan on here?

It's easier to moan when it isn't 100% perfection :)

Why do you all go quiet when we win?

Because when we lose people are not happy which is quite obvious I would have thought

I watched loads of games the two previous times we got promoted but then we were hoping for promotion not demanding it so when we lost it was not such a big deal.

I expect the season will bring a few twists and turns but we are in a very good position to go up

I simply do not understand why people start threads like this one!

No one wants Saints to do better than I do - but surely I am permitted occasional comments which i see as constructive criticism? Does that make me a 'negative thinker'? People who know me would say i was generally an optimist.

Did you go to the game on tuesday?

I just watched the highlights on BBC and I have to say that some of the chances we created were top notch. On another night we would have scored 3 or 4, it was just one of those games that all teams have where the ball just wouldn't go in the bloody net. Walsall had one good opportunity thanks to a freakish deflection off Jaidi's head and scored thanks to some very poor positioning by Kelvin (again!).

I really don't know why people are so down about that game. It's annoying that we dropped points but this idea that we were just dreadful and didn't look like scoring seems way off the mark to me.

So did you go or are you basing your views on what you saw on the highlights?

Just the highlights. But they show we created some very good chances. Even the BBC commentator summed up by saying it was a really one-sided game in our favour and ended up a freak result.

We're in a OK position and with a bit of luck we might even sneak into 2nd place before the end of the season, but if anyone on here wants to claim we're a great team that is setting this division alight with its ruthless brand of dominant football then I'd be forced to take issue with them. In my view we just don't consistently play that well in all honesty and risking the wrath of the many who believe that performances don't matter as long as the results keep coming in then I'd also say that the quality of performance does actually matter because if you keep underperforming then sooner or later you are bound to drop more crucial points.

It's as plain as the nose on your face that despite having some pretty good footballers at our disposal we're not a match for Brighton (even Bmth seem to be better value for money than us) - now why that should be is a question that's far easier to ask than to answer.

All we really want is to be in at least 2nd place on the last day of the season. This is a most difficult league. Promotion will bring us a whole different ball game. If the owners truly have a plan then surely the money will be produced to acquire the necessary players and let's face it playing in the championship is worlds above league 1. With the right backing I have no doubt we will be able to attract the right sort of players. I believe the ride in the championship will be a lot smoother for a club of our calibre. I think with our set up we could go straight up into the premiership. We MUST get out of this division this season. Keep the faith, I have for over 45 years and I am confident that season 2013/14 we will be in the premiership.

i didn't go to todays game so cant really comment about todays performance and result but my thing is when ever we go behind we very rarely come back to win under NA.

When his plan a works we win but when it doesn't we lose as he doesn't have a plan b.

still back him but still not sure on weather he can be the man that takes us up from the championship.

Forty-one years. That's how many 'we were so unlucky' and 'keep the faith we'll do it' I have heard.

It's not so - you create the chances you put the buggers away.

Did you see Brighton's result today? Could you see Saints doing that this season? I don't think so. How many of the top six sides have lost at Walsall or at home to Brentford? Okay we won at Colchester and not many do that but we've also lost at Carlisle, frigging Tranmere, at home to Rochdale. I'm just sick of it to be honest.

Will we ever go on 'Norwich style' unbeaten run in any division ever? When's our flamin' turn or do I have to wait until I'm about eighty and can hardly see or hear?

Same for me. Lost a lot of faith after Tuesday. One thing will bring it back. Consistency. One win against 10 men aint it.

we're like the Man City of the third tier. Enough quality players to win our fair share of games, but without that momentum mos teams have that are near the top of league tables.

Then with respect you have no right to admonish someone else with the line "did you go".

Highlights are just that highlights - my experience in life is you learn more from the low lights.

I was there on Tuesday and yes we were the better side but we played like headless chickens, that would not have been apparent on the "highlights".

Surely theres not another fan base anywhere as divided as Saints fans, bloody hell every day on this forum its one side v the other with arguments going in ever decreasing circles

Out of interest, Walsall fans said we were the best team they had faced this season, we lost

Colchester fans said we were lucky, we won

Funny old game football

Gonorrhea = Lose against Walsall and beat fellow promotion hopefuls Colchester.

Syphilis = Beat Walsall and lose against fellow promotion hopefuls Colchester.
